I said last year I had a carb issue. Well after some investigating it has been determined time is the reason and not my modding. Since this carb looks more complicated then a typical American carb. I go over it then explain what caused the failure.

I have new wheels on my Sportcross! Follow the link below to see what I got!

I just love these carburators, I've been spending almost a year meticulously tuning mine, used to be california emissions, but i converted it to federal, new ecu, added emissions components.
They just drive so nice if you can get it perfectly tuned on top of also having all emmision components working together, I'm so close to perfecting it that it gets 40 mpg going 80 on the freeway, its not slow for a typical 4ac aisan stock setup.
My head is a 4A-E mounted to a 4a-lc block.
Keep up the good work man, your build is ingenious.
Wow this brings back memories. I was 14 when I ripped the carb off my dads 77 Toyota corola and rebuilt it. It looked very similar to yours. Thanks for posting and great tutorial!
I said it in there. You pull the vacuum secondary apart and replace the spring with a lighter one. Or you can cut the spring. When you are doing that, a lot less vacuum is needed to open the secondary. So it opens sooner.
Great video. I have 3 engines running this carb (earlier model) and they all run rich, now I know where to look. Cheers mate :)
Thanks for the video you just saved me gonna change the float coz there was too much gas when I was rebuilding my carb
i have these carbs on my 2tb from my ta23 celica i believe... very helpful video, thanks :)
Good info! There r some videos on youtube that suck for giving info. Thanks.
this is exactly whats wrong with my carb :) thanks, i might be able to fix it now!
good video, im battling an aisin on my sj413 of samurai over there.. and it seems that im going weber with manual choke.. idont know but this is my first carb car and this carburator just seems incredible complex. it runs rich and autochoke goes mad..
Thanks! It may come in handy. I'm about to buy a AE82 (maybe this weekend.or Monday) and I will check the carb right away (not that I will find this type of carb in it) . It's a pretty good bargain :
3.500 Norwegian Crowns (Kroner) for the car is about 589,45 USD.
No rust in the canals, paintjob is good, some minor rust inside the front wheel arches, the interior is in really good shape and extra set of wheels....And yes, i'm looking forward to buy the car =)
Where can I get a carb like that or one that is identical enough to work on a 93 Suzuki swift.. G13b engine
@powers057
Replace your PCV valve. It's clogged if it runs like crap when its connected.
need help on my 1984 corolla, how do i know if vaccum to distributer is well placed, and doing it's job, i feel my car a little vague on 4, and 5fth gear
@BOOOSHtube
1. It opens the secondary butterfly. Giving you more power.
2. When vacuum pulls the spring inside housing, it opens the butterfly.
3. The easiest thing to do when its broken. Replace the diaphragm inside.
@1thecarnerd
Sorry for the wait.
Could be choke. The engine stalling sounds like float issue. Check the level in the bowl. Then get back to me.
@1thecarnerd
Since it is a computer controlled carb. I would get those thing hooked back up. And for extra safety Replace the o2 sensor.
I tried to rebuild a Mikuni carb for a Dodge Colt. The rebuild kit did not have the choke pulloff diaphram (which was torn). The whole thing was riveted together so I had to drill those out then find self tapping screws to put it back together. It never was right after that. I hope the owner get a new one. Apparently the Mikuni is a throw away carb.
Good info! I'm also rebuilding my double 2T-B carb for my Carina and it certainly did explain some things. :)
Hmmm... What will replace it then? A set of mikunis? :P
@84hachi Thank you very much, I hope I'll be able to fix it.
@TICOOCIT2
I posted the pic link in the description.
hi, I have the same type of carburetor with my ae92 4af carb engine ... I'd like to know what will be the cause if the secondary throttle doesn't open at all? because I think mine is not opening... could it be that there is problem inside of that vaccum pump which triggers the secondary?
i have the same problem !!! my second throttle doesn't open at all ! i have a 1989 mazda 323f bg with pop up lights
An old man had the same 323f bg as me and sold me a lot of things for 100 euros
I have a complete aisan 28/32 the same as me but mine has 240 000 kilometers
This one has 60 000 😂 i changed my gearbox too by the way
Tank you for the explaination !
I have a 1985 Toyota Corolla (E80) with the 4A-C engine. Does it use the same carb?
+Ian Above
Yes, it is
can't wait for the start up vid. ;)
@Nivicoman
And how you can get a set of 4 on ebay for 75 bucks.
I've been fine. As for the car. You will just have to watch :D.
@JaRabbit69
My Corolla.
@BOOOSHtube
I copied that out of my Service Manual.
ok ok lol. Im guessing you put a weber 32/36 on it.
Seems the float is gone. Rebuild the car and you should be good.
looks complicated
