el Kouki con los Coqui!! El mio esdel '87 con ese mismo motor. Tienen potencial.... nunca mueren esos motores. These engine never dieand have alot of potential! A nice head job and the basic bolt on's make this engine VERY torquey.
@messer0744 Not much, about 80 hp to the wheels. But with some nice mods, weber, and headwork it can be very torquey. All that paired with a higher differential and it will give some headache to some twin cam engines ;)
I have a few questuons. I'm in the process off all of this and I'm stuck in what to do with the pre heater hose, the one that goes from the exhaust to the old carb housing. The slinky kind of aluminum one. Thanks in advance
Thanks for the vid it is very helpull. I am going to do this to my 83 corolla.I want to ask you did you also remove the charcoal canister is it something the car has to have?
@203809ct when you remove the entire vac system the charcoal canister becomes useless so you can remove it as well, just leave the line that comes from the tank open or the gas tank will become pressurized and push fuel out of the pump.

I have the same engine in my 87 Chevy nova. They had Toyota engines for a few years. Which weber carburetor did you use? I can’t find one listed under chevy nova 1987?
@messer0744 I know, I just like this engine, that's all. The twin cam is a way better engine, but I still have some fun with the SOHC one (mine has some mods and combined with a nice diff and lightweight flywheel). If it breaks, maybe I'll swap :)
I did this delete by going off your video and know when I try to start it pushes way too much fuel in the carb. Did u have to reset your float level? Also I have not yet removed my charcoal canister could that be it?
I have the same engine and I just replace the stock carb with a weber 32/36 carb but is not running right. what do you suggest that I can do if only one of the barrels open?
Rafael Almeida it should run well if the carb is setup right and isn’t in need of a rebuild. The factory jets on the 32/36 run well, maybe a little bit on the rich side, but should work ok. Check whenever your jets have been swaped.
Hey old video I hope you see this! So you're distributor vaccum has 3 ports correct? I have a 87 Rolla 4alc and mine has 3 ports. I currently run the top left port to the base of carb. Is this not correct? I've been driving it like this for a few weeks. Mileage is not bad for an old car.
If that's a vacuum source at the base of the carb, then it should be fine, maybe a bit over advanced. Those lines at the ignition all they do is advance the ignition a bit when vacuum is applied. There are ports in the carb that show a nice vacuum only at idle or when decelerating with the carb throttle plates closed.
elcano9 I noticed it felt a bit too over advance like you said so I went back to the intake manifold port. Does your distributor vacuum have 3 ports? Or 2? And which one do you use?
@@ahdasick If you notice it is a bit too advanced, just take the ignition timing down a notch. I don't recall if mine had 2 o 3 but I think all of them give out the same result. If the chamber is the same between the 3, then they should all do the same timing effect. Easiest way to know is if you need to cap the other 2 because vacuum escapes from them if they are left open. If not, then they have different timing advances. Btw, I sold this car many years ago for $2,500. They are now very sought after. I regret it, wish I still had it hehe.
there is a plastic electronic piece under the cab that the pcv valve connects to. what is that called? mine is cracked and i dont know where to find another. thanks for the help. ae for life haha.
Joshua Mueller I know its a little late for repliying almost a year after... But that is called the heater plate. It basically heats the base of the carb on winter to keep it from frosting. Not necessary if it doesn’t get cold where you live. You can get around to eliminating it, but if I remember well, some linkage stuff on the carb will touch the intake manifold and get stuck. Cheers
@@elcano9 I have diagrams bit am still nervous about the delete I seriously don't know which have to be kept the engine is out which makes it hard to understand and all lines r labeled
@@shanethompson7139724 There ain’t no science to it. The carb doesn’t really need any vacuum hoses to work. Just make sure you cap everything off and don’t end up with a vacuum leak.
I don't feel comfortable messing with carbs, my 4AC is having troubles & I'm thinking of swapping with 4A-FE (fuel injected) It gets slightly better horsepower & fuel mileage. Do you think its worth it?
I don't recall the brand but most auto parts will sell it as a universal carburator air filter assembly. This one is for imports with smaller carbs. But there are the bigger one's for big carb'd engines.
A/C keeps working as long as it makes a good idle. It could add power and fuel economy since all these emission lines are more that 20 yrs old and make the carburetor work like crap. This is not a task for the mechanically challenged tho...

Nice video, emissions stuff is a joke from the 80's, removing it is just better. As for the charcoal can, try to keep it as gas vapor is most dangerous and this can helps contain it when parked. The rest can go and carbs rule when there aren't 1000 vacuum lines.

Junking it? That’s is a little extreme isn’t it? Lol. There is only ONE fuel line in all of this and it comes directly from the fuel pump on the side of the cylinder head. And its just a common rubber-like hose found at any autoparts store. What’s the problem you are facing?
I tried starting the car and it will only run if I keep pressing the gas pedal. If I just let it idle it dies and I think gas is coming from the tailpipe. Some black stuff comes out from it.
But the car keeps dying. It shuts off after a minute of running. If I push the gas it keeps the car from shutting down, when it is parked, but when I tried to drive it and pushed on the gas the car died. What do you think it might be?

hey i have a question if you can help me out. im doing the same procedure .
This is kind of off topic of the video, but what type of distributor did you have to go with to run that Msd 6AL and blaster coil? thanks

Sonofaguninmo Weber 32/36 DGV
