Does it always sound that intense? My partner just started having asthma like attacks with a weird wheeze right at the peak of inhale like that, but it’s not that intensely loud/ long

Stridor is a bit different than wheezing. It is a high pitched sound that indicates upper airways obstruction. While wheezing is coming from the lower airway, and is what you’d be hearing during an asthma attack. The intensity of these sounds can also vary depending on how severe the airway obstruction is.
