Little House on the prairie was a Classic to watch. I enjoyed this tv show. RIP to those lost on the prairie. Thank you to those who are still here with us. Please have a blessed day and Thank you all.
I love him so so so much... he is the ultimate father to me ,,,,,when I was a very young foster child, he was the kind of man I prayed for every day and night for well over the decades. ❤️❤️❤️
Merlin was so great! He was good friends with Michael Landon and gave the eulogy at his funeral. Landon had wanted his funeral to be funny, so Merlin started it with, "Hi, I'm Merlin Olsen. I sell flowers." Because, of course, he was best known for his FTD commercials at the time.
I’ve been in love with this man, ever since I first saw him on Little House. I was I was 7 when he first came on the show, and being placed in foster care, without a POSITIVE and compassionate steady male/ father figure role model in my life, I was so enchanted by Merlin and Michael Landon. I used to dream and pretend they were my fathers. And all these years later I still think of them that way! 😊🥰
Him and Charles were the hoot when it comes to friendship. I look forward to them every day when they were all together. They made the show even better I miss them both They were great fathers men husbands and friends the way it should be nowadays
@@GeorgeCarlinWasAGod the Garveys were added to replace the Edwards family because Landon threw French under the bus over a doing another show at the same time since French wanted to be paid a little more. It’s a bad story if you want to look it up.
Merlin Olsen brought something different to the show. I know that his character, Jonathan Garvey, was suppose to be a replacement for Mr. Edwards... but lets face it, Jonathan and Edwards where two completely different characters. They could not be compared. I loved them both.
blindwatcher1 Charles asked John Jr. when he and Mary went to visit him in the beginning of season 4 if John jr. was going to visit his family in California. I think that Victor French left to do other endeavors.
On Little House when they were on the Winoka set and they had the boys play football, and Merlin as Jonathan Garvey had to help them play football, I bet Merlin Olsen loved those scenes
It's so interesting how the actors of Little House all seem to remember the names of the individual episodes. The High Cost of Being Right was a great episode.
All time favourite series. All the actors in this TV Series are legendary, loved each and everyone of them. Of cause Michael without him this LHP Series wouldn't have been possibly, so Thank You Michael for the great memories and life lessons. RIP 💚💚💚
I absolutely loved the character Jonathan Garvey on Little House and thought he was just THE best guy on the planet! Seeing him talk here in this interview sure makes me think he really must be! Love ya Merlin!
I'm glad to have found this video. I loved Merlin Olsen. I had such a crush on him and was upset when he left the show. It left such a void for me. And while the other adult actors were more polished, he was a natural at acting -- always seemed real. I wish he were still around. It's clear he was such a wonderful man.
Loved this interview, I just wanted him to keep sharing more of his special memories. I was sad when the interview ended. What an incredible addition to the Little House Family. I enjoyed his work so much!!! Rest in Peace dear friend. 🌹
I have a feeling that what you see in this interview and onscreen is the way Merlin Olsen really was which is a great person. I watched LHOTP from when it first aired in 1974 to the end.
He was handsome he was the one no tumper soft always smiles & joked funny Mr. Edward too funny those men was my favorite I always still watching the show I have collection of them😅 Bless them😂
A life well ived. We are all only here a short time. Lovely to still be able to see him live in Little House on the Prairie. His family will miss him badly I am sure.
There were no way we could tell you weren't a professional actor, Mike gave so many amateurs opportunity. Rest their souls. So loved Mike's funny little giggle.
I don’t know. When I started watching the later seasons I thought his line deliveries were a bit dull and flat. But he still had the right face, physique and demeanor and persona for the role and that has a lot to do with your performance regardless of how skilled you are. He’s no Day-Lewis or Brothers Fiennes but he doesn’t need to be. Mr. Garvey is your stoic, dependable tough guy not meant to be dramatic and Merlin Olsen fits the bill.
I love this show. I watch it everyday even tho I've seen every episode a hundred times. It drives my son up a wall but my house, my t.v.! When I get to heaven I'll b looking for all 3 of them; Charles, French, & Garvey.
You were,are a wonderful person,actor,someone who's deeply missedl,loved from the heart . Victor you're deeply missed,loved as you're a wonderful actor . Michael you're missed,loved too .
I had no idea he passed in 2010 this is another reason why I love CZcams I get to revisit great shows, movies these days I do not like T.V it's talentless INFACT the few good shows are on AMC with the Walking dead, The Preacher, EXCEDRA but, in coming back you begin to wonder is this actor or actress still alive so, you'll pause go and Google and hold your breath that there still living! Life is short, unknown to when our mortality is going I guess it doesn't hit you this morbid thought death til you start getting old 50 it start A you relize you got a good 20 yrs if that so live ! Blessings test in peace all who passed on this show including Mr.IOlsen ❤
Great man...I cherish my Father Murphy dvds season 1&2. I know they are out of print. They have never been released on Blu Ray format...so come on Shout Factory lets get them on blu ray with extras.
Merlin Olsen - just as I thought, was that benevolent, gentle giant. I think he's on the point when he says "when I played pain I felt pain". But, without being a professional actor he does some fantastic acting. I love his deep voice, and when he disappeared from the show was missed. To me the story where his wife dies and Albert being guilty for the fire is nauseatingly painful.
I have often make comments about the show and all were nothing But positive!! I have always enjoyed watching little house on the prairie🏡👨🌾👩🌾🌄🐴 and so when I could I was able to get the collection of the show so I could watch it any time I wanted 😊 and well as for all the actors & actresses I enjoyed how some episodes would play when it had a little comedy to it !! & I will always remember how much they played a certain role in my life the show and actors as well actresses taught me a few life lessons at some point & at least I like to think they did I will miss all of them😕 for the ones who passed away but will Appsaloutley NEVER BE FORGOTTEN !! That episode, was so so sad 😞 and I actually, wished it wouldn’t have been written, the way it was, with that, horrific scene, of Alice and Marys baby, in that, fire 🔥It was awful .
What I liked about the Garvey's were that they were definitely not perfect and had some serious problems. Johnathn had trouble drinking, Alice had a secret marriage. A lot more human that most characters on the show.
Wow, very few male cast members, that were adults on the show still alive now, I believe there's only Linwood Boomer, Dean Butler and Stan Ivar still around.
I suppose you could have Robert Casper (Sherwood Montague) who was in a few episodes right at the end. He is 94 as I write. But it is debatable whether he counts as a regular.
This show is not just a show, it is the most beautiful and precious moments of my life....
I agree with you 100%
Agree
Ditto!!
Amen! 🙏
I feel the same for this show, it has been a part of my life, i was 8 when the show was in the air and 18 when it ended.
Neat man! I always liked him on Little House. I just looked him up and realized that he was married to his wife for 48 years until he died in 2010.
One of the fastest 19 minutes of my life. Could listen to that man speak all day. Thanks. RIP Merlin
Yes his voice is wonderful
My favourite male character on Little House.
RIP Merlin Olsen, Victor French, & Michael Landon. We miss you.
Also, RIP Richard Bull.
I stopped after Michael Landon cos the list got to depressing to continue on. But yea, RIP to Richard Bull too.
And Katherine MacGregor.
I can imagine them in heaven having a blast with each other...laughing all day every day :-)
defiantone we sure do, I watch them every day.

The gentle giant. The man had a heart of gold.
+thebeastlacey Most definitely!
without a doubt... The other 3 members of the "fearsome foursome" loved the guy. and this was in the 60's..
Merlin Olsen was a class act and he was very good on LHOTP.
God I love this show! My 8 yr old Daughter and I are on season 7 of the DVD box set. It's been my favorite memories with her. I never want it to end!
Loved Merlin Olsen. Every episode with him was a joy! RIP Michael Victor and Merlin. You were loved and are so missed🌺💐
I really liked him on Little House. He was alot like Charles and had good morals.

@@sheoulgra I figured it was him! He was so smart! Cant wait to meet him in heaven!
My all time favorite episode was "Harvest of Friends "
I literally bawl every time
That was the very first episode.
I really liked him on Little House! He was a lot like Michael Landon and had good morals.R.I.P. Michael, Victor and Merlin.❤️

I would have loved to seen both "Mr. Edwards" and "Jonathan Garvey" in at least one episode together.

Randi Collins Yeap I wonder what happened if they actually did meet
Why did Victor French leave after Season 3? On the show, was it ever mentioned where the Edwards family was going?
AGREE!
I'm glad I wasn't the only one to notice that!
blindwatcher1 Charles asked John Jr. when he and Mary went to visit him in the beginning of season 4 if John jr. was going to visit his family in California. I think that Victor French left to do other endeavors.

the handsome gentle giant.
Very handsome
Dean...thanks for this amazing story about Merlin...
Here's a gentle giant.
This show had the best actors I've ever seen.. Because to play a character you have to feel it for real and everyone did that...
love that one with andy and albert lol
Thank you for sharing. God Bless. 🌼
Had a mega crush on Jonathan. Most handsome guy on the set of Little House.
What a lovely man.
Richard Bull is wonderful too

I wish the man was still around. Seemed to be a great man and O definitely enjoyed him on the show.
Such wonderful values of the What America once was.

Rip merlin olsen
“You’re the bouncer here? Why don’t you get to bouncin’?” One of my favorite lines of his.
He was a fantastic replacement for Mr Edwards.
He did get his own show "Father Murphy"
Lynn Wright thanks! I will search for it.
And Aaron’s Way

Herrrmosooo Jonathan Garby. Saludos de Argentina Bariloche 💓💓💓🙋🏻♀️
Thank you.
I loved Jonathan Garvey. Such a gentle giant !
Its still gives me chills when Alice Garvey died in that fire with Mary's Baby. Her breaking the window and screaming
Every time I watch that episode I tear up
The fire scene and the scene where Mary breaks the window at Nellie's and when Mary screams "MY BABY" I get scared for some reason
That episode, was so so sad 😞 and I actually, wished it wouldn’t have been written, the way it was, with that, horrific scene, of Alice and Marys baby, in that, fire 🔥It was awful .
At 0:48 notice how he says he went to work for the Los Angeles Rams instead of saying he went to play for them.
Hill Country well football is a business.
One of my dreams in life is to find a man who is “fatherly”: That means to be loving, caring, warm-hearted and responsible. Qualities hard to find.
They are there, be quietly observant you will see them.
Mi piacerebbe che queste interviste fossero tradotte anche in italiano.visto che amo da morire la casa nella prateria. 😦😯
I love this show it a real family show Michael Landon is one of the best known actors

Jason Bateman is still around, he stared in the Ozark- I don't remember his characters name in LHOTP, he was adopted with his brother by the Ingalls
Great atores Como Jonathan garwie.
Merl Olsen was good addition to the show thankyou
Him Albert and Mrs Olsen my favorites
