    John Blankenbaker's Kenbak-1 was the first personal computer. Designed in 1971, before microprocessors were invented, the Kenbak-1 had 256 bytes of memory and featured small and medium scale integrated circuits on a single circuit board.

    The first handheld calculator was a 1967 prototype called Cal Tech, whose development was led by Jack Kilby at Texas Instruments in a research project to produce a portable calculator.

    R.I.P Sir, and thanks for bringing us the Sinclair Spectrum 128k... my first ever computer which started my love affair with gaming.

    There is already an answer used over many cities worldwide... it's called the bicycle, made to the standard diamond shape frame. If he had simply made a power assisted bicycle with improved battery technology and motors he would probably have cleaned up. The reason there aren't many recumbent bicycles on the road are due to stability, practicality, and/or visibility.

    @ChrisLuxembourg I received a letter from Clive when I was about 12, I wrote to him saying the C5 should have some sort of regenerative drive system to charge the batteries

    Is a C5 (or an X1 for that matter) road legal in Britain?

  • @Azreal911
    @Azreal911 Před 13 lety

    unfortunately for sinclair the c5 was waaaay to ahead of it's time. He was thinking 10 years ahead of everyone else. It just wasn't going to fly back when gas was cheap and the car was now overpopulating the roads as much. But now this is a very ideal form of transportation.

    I love his gadgets, pitty he no longer makes computers, i'm still hoping one day his company will release a ZX Spectrum type gadget that plugs into a HDMI socket of a TV and its got 200 of the speccys most poular games stored inside. That would be a dream come true.

    When can I get one in Vancouver, B.C. Canada ?

  • @JustClaude13
    @JustClaude13 Před 5 lety +2

    The C5 was a bad design from the start. It had no seat adjustment for tall or short people and only a single gear. I like the looks, but it just wasn't practical.
    The X-1 looks promising if they've corrected the mistakes of the C5 program. I'd like to get one. I hope he restarts the project.

      +TrueBlogge777 I am surprised a genius like Clive can't see the obvious fact this invention NEEDS to be 3 wheel, and good luck if one of those tiny little tires hits a medium size pot hole (yuck). This idea would be another flop if he released it to market without some serious re-designs.

    why they have small wheels. just put normal bike wheels and make it bigger

    • @EVZebra
      @EVZebra Před 8 lety

      +TrueBlogge777
      Wrong the smaller the wheels the less torque it takes to turn them + hot electric motors are inefficient and suck more amps.
      Wrong because the radius of gyration is raised to the power 3 so the larger the wheel the more energy it takes to turn it from 2x2x2=8 3x3x3=27 so the bigger it gets the worse things become as far as energy consumption goes.
      Emotions and preconceived ideas will always clash with inventions that are based on mathematics sadly the majority of humans are emotional and uneducated so getting them on board is always a huge, almost impossible, task.

  • @mookixox
    @mookixox Před 8 lety +1

    The C5 was NEVER ahead of its time, it was a stupid, horrible idea at any time...Why not just buy an electric bike?
