    I think Peter spoke his bold message in the context of Judeo-Christianity, where people expect one Messiah who is the only savior of all mankind and I absolutely agree with it.
    On the other side, I cannot disagree with my brethern who do not care if our Lord Jesus is messiah. They have other contexts on their mind. They don't think that a messiah is required for salvation. In their view salvation is achieved with a pure mind and a graceful life.
    Well, that's what we Christian would face were we to live as a minority in a country.
    Yet they are my brethern, who I should love as Jesus loves them.

    This makes it sound very simple, but 1) protestants believe this, too (it's sola scriptura); 2) Nostra Aetate says we need "to work honestly for mutual understanding" with adherents of non-Christian religions. Relativism is satanic. Jesus is the One who resolves all paradoxes in philosophy and life. If something seems to contradict itself, it is ultimately resolved by Jesus. Sometimes I will have these discussions about relativism and people will tell me that there is no truth. That's when I tell them that Jesus is the Truth with a capital T. It's hard to explain to people what that means, because for non-believers that just sounds stupid, but it is the most concise way in which I can explain the argument. Yes, everybody has their own view on life and the world, but there is one force that binds us all together, and that's Jesus. Satan wants to drive us apart and scatter us like mice, but Jesus gathers His flock.

    • @JJ-nn8kr
      @JJ-nn8kr Před 3 lety

      I use this simple argument that the only reality is God, the Truth, and everything else are His live works.
      Faithless people are so because they infinitely underestimated God’s omnipotence, despite God rapidly evolved human minds in the recent decades in tandem with Globalization/informations.

    • @myckl287

      The only & true way for a non-believer to believe is to see God in the believer; his way of life through Christ, the change & how Christ is manifested through his everyday living. Sadly, a good many of us “Christians”has the tendency to preach yet our examples are way bad. Only we ourselves know this and can change if we will it with Christ’s help. The late Padre Pio once said, “preach the gospel, and when necessary, use words”. That says it all. ✌🏻❤️

    Dr Pitre, Protestants use this passage to back up their denial of Peter being the Rock. They say that Peter himself is testifying that Jesus is the rock (corner stone) on which His church will be built, not Peter. As the Jersusalem Temple was built by the Levite priests, the apostles will build the new Temple/ Church with Christ not Peter as its foundation Rock. Also they claim the keys to the Kingdom of Heaven are the gospels not physical keys or authority, and that Jesus gave it to 'you' plural not singular, so all disciples have the keys ie gospels as opposed to only the apostles. Can you comment or do a video to debunk these claims please?

    Jesus is the ransom which paid off Adam's sin's penalty. It is natural that we accept that ransom if we want to live on earth without the need to die (John 3:16).
    Jesus is naturally the only WAY. Even the dead who will be resurrected will have to learn about Jesus' ransom and accept it to continue living on earth.

    I wish Doctor Brant Pitre would just say that the Church of Jesus Christ is the Catholic Church and that there is NO SALVATION OUTSIDE OF THE CATHOLIC CHURCH, also it is the Catholic Church that has the "KEYS" to the Kingdom of Heaven which means this is the only way in to Heaven.

      @wesleysimelane3423 Před 3 lety

      @Luis Tamayo The catholic church IS NOT the church Christ built. Far from it! It is on the other end of the spectrum with its man-made teachings and rituals.
      The misconception lies in Matthew 16v18...and I tell you, you are Peter and on this rock, I will built my church...." see Jesus was referring not to Peter, but to Peter’s confession of faith in verse 16: “You are the Christ, the son of the living God.” Jesus had never explicitly taught Peter and the other disciples the fullness of His identity, and He recognized that God had sovereignly opened Peter’s eyes and revealed to him who Jesus really was. His confession of Christ as Messiah poured forth from him, a heartfelt declaration of Peter’s personal faith in Jesus. It is this personal faith in Christ which is the hallmark of the true Christian. Those who have placed their faith in Christ, as Peter did, are the church. Beware not to be proud of buildings but of Christ!

I'm quite surprised to see a catholic call John Paul ll "poor, bungling, befuddled" isn't this extremely insulting? And this man is declared a saint by the catholic church no?

So JP2 among all others who led the church are in good company. Just shows the lack of heart many of us Catholics have. Sadly we’re too quick to judge the character and not see the bigger picture. Thx again for defending the late JP2.
      And for the one commented of such, even Saul before becoming Paul, was reminded by Gamaliel of the respect he’s to give their religious leaders. Paul, in all his humility though he may be in the right to speak out to the Sanhedrin’s leader, apologized. Goes to show u(us) that we need to be like Paul, to know our place, with humility.
