I love modern game graphics, but there's a charm to the N64's style and Rare's style in particular that can never be beaten.

of all games this def needed a color blind mode
That's awesome they found a mid range speed run length for people to watch. I can kind of get a feel what's in the game with this run.
That banter during the intro story glitch was gold. 10/10.

Seeing that this game is only held together with scotch tape it still runs decently for casual play.
A lot of N64 games were like that. They played perfectly fine in casual play, but if you pushed against the game's physics even a little bit they just give way. Zelda: OOT is another good example
It was that period of time where the 2D games were arguably better than the 3D games...
I know I preferred donkey Kong as a side scroll, looked nicer, played smoother
@@sosomadman Yeah, cuz in the period when games like Super Mario 64 and OOT came out everyone was too busy playing their 2D counterparts instead. What era did you live through?

They should remaster this game
I wish that they would keep all of the actual content the same as the original, including the physics and the movesets and everything, but just remaster it, yeah. Get rid of any input delay or undersensitive controls, lag issues, stuff like that. This game couldn't run on an N64 game cart without the expansion pack. I'm playing on emulator recently, and it crashes at least once an hour and the further i get into the game, the more often it happens. This would not be happening if it was a remastered version designed for modern hardware
All 100,00+ views are just me watching this over and over again.

I'm excited about Yooka-Laylee, but I'd like to see a sequel to DK64 specifically - at least with the feature of switching between 5 different characters (which have their own individual collectibles).
Was weird hearing them say Lanky had the worst movement since as a kid I remember wanting to be Lanky as much as possible since his handstand was so fast.
This is one of the best Speedruns imo, i watch it very frequently. Its just so Entertaining and funny. The beginning puts me in a good mood every single time.

What are some reasons people dislike this game? I remember it fondly and probably through rose colored glasses as a kid. I just know the amount of collectibles was overwhelming.

Most dislike it because it's not exactly a Donkey Kong game. And people complain about B&K N&B.
+RocketPawnch Much of the game feels like busy work. But on the plus side, there is so much to collect that finishing the whole game is a serious achievment.
+RocketPawnch I didn't grow up with Nintendo, but purely judging from this video it doesn't really look that bad.
bit of advice when it comes to speedrunning, they usually choose games they love to play so much they know all the ins and outs. runners love to make fun of the flaws in games they run because A. they're silly and need mentioning or B. just to tease

+isbilen1000 I think by now it's a common gag at SGDQ/AGDQ (pretending that you're playing the game normally while attempting to glitch it the fuck out) so you just roll with the joke and everything's good.

i didn't hear or see it listed anyhwere, but is this run 100%? it seems that after Main menu mode you could just go straight to King K Rool.

+Templarfreak None. But having save states is like doing a segmented run and that takes the risks and such, so therefore no save states allowed.

Not really. Because if you save and die afterwards you would still have to start over from the beginning of the level, some flags reset and it does lose time whatsoever. If you savestated during a run you can just scrap all your mistakes and try again.

The banter is funny, but if you don't know what's going on then it's really confusing to watch... I generally like informative commentary at GDQ's cus runners don't usually explain the runs they do on their own streams because they assume their audience knows what they're doing... It's too bad.. I'm sure I would have found the banter more funny if I wasn't scratching my head at what was going on...

I would donate if I had cash, but my money is somewhere in my couch... I just don't know where. Now if I we're to donate I will donate to kill the frames but save the animals. it just doesn't make sense... P.S. nonexistent donation goes to commentators choice.
