I'm 65 years old. When I was 6 years old my dad being a mechanic in the Air Force had some abilities even though he quit school in the 8th grade and went on to become the senior captain on l1011 for Eastern Airlines out of Atlanta but back to the deal he built me a go-kart out of scrap metal. Back then you could not go Ace Hardware or Sears and buy one. He put Piper Cub landing gear tires on it and a five horse B&S that he hopped up a little bit and it would actually only run on Amoco White fuel. We lived on a farm and had some Old Logging roads and man we spent so much time sideways on those roads it was crazy. All my buddies started putting together carts with their dads and the next thing you know we or terrorizing the streets in 63 and 64. What a great time
My grandpa was a military mechanic and he became a high school auto mechanic teacher and even had my mom and uncle in his class. Mini bike were very big in my neighborhood and I always had some second hand 3.0 b&s that I never had fully put together. One day I’m in my backyard working on it and my grandpa pulls up in his el comino, when he’s leaving he takes my mini bike throws it in the back of his elco and takes off. About a week later I’m cruising around with him and we pull up the one of his buddies auto shops and BAM there’s my mini bike fully put together and ready to go. I thought he had taken it away from me but he had it worked on. My grandpa was very old school and a man of few words. At that age he used to take me with him and I thought I was being punished but it wasn’t till I was older that I realized all the skills I had came directly from him having me with him all the time. He passed when I was 16 and it crushed me. I always wish he was still with me to help me some more. 😢
Good balance. Fun / Disaster. Pre-Race advice: Memorize every square foot and you will be good to go. After race: Get drunk to stave off the immense pain of sand/insects/etc in the eye balls. Really nice video. You Yanks (I assume) have so much space to have fun. Cheers and a great exhibition of control. Patience and control is the key.
I guess CZcams brought be here after watching some Super Kart racing. And I thought they were crazy! Looks like a nice track except for all those trees.
Kudos on using the stock engine air cleaner assembly. They are not that restrictive and the housing at least (could have nearly any kind of filter element inside) protects the filter element from caked on mud, water and other elements that could clog an external foam filter instantly.
Any advice on how to get a track in that condition? I’ve got a field I’m trying to carve out a 1/4 mile track in. Right now it’s grass but would like to get it down to bare smooth dirt.
By the time I was 8 years old I was working on it pretty regularly and one day my cousin did a little spin out on it and it wouldn't crank anymore and it felt like the engine was weak and I realized that something must be keeping the exhaust valve opened, believe it or not at 8 years old so I took the head off and they look piece of pea gravel had gotten underneath the exhaust valve and stuck it open. Popped it out with a screwdriver Bolten the head back on and away we went. That's when I fell in love with racing. Done all kinds since then but never Pro. I look back on it and I think I missed a chance to be great at something. Too late now. Arthritis and not having the ability to trust a fart keeps me out of one of those type little seats
ThTs what I’m saying these goofballs don’t know how to flat track. Should be wide open and sliding in corners I was cringing at the slowness and the under steering.if your wide open and sling it into the corners and learn to control it sideways it be tons faster
lol i am getting old i was watching this earlier and was thinking oh this is pretty wild but why would you race on dirt it seems like it would do more damage to the little karts over time and i just realized i used to race a kart on dirt... like 15 years ago. definitely seems more dangerous with the trees i had a chain let go once and instantly lost the back end on the exit of turn 2 and slid way up the track probably a few trees deep and we had decent banking maybe 10+ degrees
@@tarpehgreene4966 they vary but you can get a good one going for 600-1000 ready to go. We have some Ultramax, millinium, and a few older ones as well. They all do about the same thing. The newer ones will have adjustable front ends and stuff though.
You can program drones that can keep pace with drift cars so you could probably program a gocart to drive itself or follow and carry ammunition fuel or remote control turrets and reconnaissance platforms for ucavs and other surveillance equipment for boarder engagements
Most epic track, at first I thought you were going down a hill until I realized you kept passing the same red truck! 🤣🤣🤣 would love to try that sometime. What hand signals have you worked out together? Have fun!
This is we did as kids! Got out & built our own stuff for fun. Not holed up in the house in front of a damn computer, like a hermit. No internet, X Box, I phones or school shooters. Sure, it was dangerous but that's how you learn & get the one thing that can't be taught but only learned and only by interaction. Social skills! (Sorry for the rant)
He turned my exhaust by putting a straight pipe on it and we ran it in a church parking lot all day and he took a hacksaw and went up to where the color had not changed on the pipe. Close to the motor it was purple out towards the end it was the same as it was when we started he cut it right there on that line and welded a big ass washer to the end of it and it was tuned to perfection
I am so building a go cart track in my yard starting tomorrow I don't care if it's snowing in Michigan If I build it go carts will come and race and race for cash MERICA!!!!
Some are set up for circle tracks and either they want to keep the setup or just trying to wear the tires out before switching to a normal right and left turn setup
These are just the harbor freight motors. 6.5 clones. We just run stiffer springs and run them until they pop then throw another one on. They last a year or two running like this
@@bargervideos with commies in office everything is illegal. I just dont listen to them and listen to Gods law and im perfectly fine. I do whatever i want to some extent except morally but just avoid the commies.

You could absolutely buy go karts from sears in the 60s even the late 50s...
I didn't realize that cuz we had no money. He used to say if it cost a nickel to take a shit he would have to throw up

My first build from my father was made out of wood.. even the tires.. 😂 good times .. great experiences
I got to admit that looks like alot of Fun !❤😢.
I race go kart with a flat head engine. I would love to try this
That is such an awesome place for a go kart race
Looks fun...real life Mario kart almost
I love the smooth verticality to the track. I dont know how but it almost makes it look unreal.

That's awesome! The course needs some left turns and it would really hone skillz! Rock on
Very cool track (albeit very dangerous...watch for trees)!
It gets a lil crazy every once in awhile. We all have to run the same exact motor set-up so you pick and choose when to pass.
give it more gas around turns they were bating you in those but great job
It feels like ur going to flip sometimes😅
that perfectly tuned engine sound is so beautiful

Clean competition and a ton of fun, so cool! Ive raced Sprint cars and Midgets all over the US, but this is Wild! Soooo Cool!
Looks like so much fun! Cheers from the Smoky Mountains!
Looks to be so much fun! Great video sir

I love the sound of the engine
took you long enough to get past those guys. good job
Badass! Looks like a blast
Definitely a good time. Thanks
Love the track ✊✊🍺🍺🍺
Thanks man. Took a long time to get it like that.

We bought them all from Craigslist and race tracks

Cool track, but need to try different lines through curves, looked like slot cars, drivers on left stayed left the whole track, and vise versa.
