- The Difference Between a Wolf and a Dog!
In 58 seconds, I try and list the physical differences between a wolf and a dog. Our wolf Honey has a tiny chest, about an inch or two of space between her two front legs and a long straight tail. Her tail looks like it's been dipped in ink, and I point out her caudal mark. She also has a triangle shaped head, golden eyes, and a long nose. Our dog Bob has a rounded head, a short nose, and big brown eyes. He's got a huge chest with lots of room between his front two legs. He's also got a cute curly tail. I also mention that dogs bark and wolves don't. 🐺 ❤️ 🐾

Pretty sure that's an alaskan husky. Siberian huskies and malamutes are the cool ones. My siberian looks nothing like that dog. Mine also has a lot of white, a long tail, and she has heterochromia.

(domesticated animals very commonly get bred into an "infantalist" state where they retain a lot of their younger traits into adulthood, there's even theories that humans sort of ended up doing that to ourselves through natural selection where less aggressive and more cooperative and expressive hominids had a higher rate of survival)

Always thought huskies looked wolfish...until seeing a wolf next to a husky. Honey makes Bob look like an overgrown puppy.
Malamutes look a little closer to a wolf than a husky, but the difference is still staggering and these are the two breeds that look closest to wolves when you compare a wolf to any other dog, it's just funny

Dogs essentially retain puppy characteristics into adulthood. Foxes that are semi-domesticated also retain juvenile characteristics into adulthood.

House cats are the same. They’re only semi domesticated as a species but they also retain kitten qualities. Meowing is actually a kitten quality that cats continued into adulthood when they learned that humans respond to it just like their mom did.

The rounded face is the most striking, and it's the biggest sign of domestication. Humans have bred dogs to mimic human babies/children, because that's what they are to us.
Wolves formed a partnership with humans for mutual benefit. Humans eventually didn't need wolves for that purpose, instead deciding to make them "cuter".

I used to work at a hotel when i was young in college and this guy who worked for the railroadwould come down to the desk a lot and talk to me. Me, im antisocial i found out- and i was always a little confused by this but looking back i see he was just being a nice friendly guy but anyways he told me about how he had wolves as pets. I saw mine discover his reflection in the mirror the first time, it was hilarious 😂😂 it was from a glass door and he barked thinking it was another dog and went back to confront him but there was none. He came back confused, saw his reflection again, barked and went back and there was no one again. This went on for like 5 mins a few occasions when he was a puppy 🤣🤣

Had a neighbor once that had a half-wolf and I noticed he would sniff the ground while eyeing me when I’d approach him. He didn’t run up and sniff me personally like a dog would. It seemed like really primal and majestic behavior. Total night and day when you compare their nature and behaviors to just any mutt.
