My Budgies and quail lived together and sometimes the budgies would ride the quail.
I'm hoping to get quail soon and will definitely create a natural home for them. Thank you for your inspiration. A question I have is do they like / need water to bathe in (in addition to a sand bath)?
@@nataliebutler No only need drinking water. they never bath in water.
It is nice to see that you can make one big cage but when needed both smaller cages are still pretty big!
That was the thing I was missing in my old cages

I'm going to get quail for the first time very soon, and I've done a lot of research already (your videos have been very helpful!), but there's one thing I can't really figure out: How much does it cost per month (on average) to keep quail when you add up food, bedding, and medicine (like the mite spray, or diatomaceous earth against bloodlice)? (In a similar setup to yours).
Since you and I are both in the Netherlands: can you share what feed, grit and bedding you use, and where to get it?
Hi, I never used diatomaceous Earth so don't know the cost of them and my quails eat the leftover seeds, mealworms and greens of my birds so I can't really give you an cost per months. I just use speelzand van de gamma and my seed is like I said a tropical Finch mixture. Most things can be bought in most pets shops or Boerenbond/Welkoop.

Sturdy grass species do work well for me. I always feed my quails live mealworms for some extra enrichment but dried will also work 👍

Can I ask what should I do when I find that my zebra finch eggs are infertile ? should I separate them and get them again together for anoth clutch or just remove the eggs and wait for another clutch
For now just remove the eggs they will start again. But it's better to find out why they are infertile. This could have many reasons like diet, surrounding or that the birds are not both in breeding conditions. Look for signs that they like each other. Who is building the nest etc.

Ok thanks. I was thinking about getting some for either my quail cage or my chicken coop.
@@MrAviary One of my button quail hens is sitting on eggs! She has gone broody multiple times before but always abandoned the nest after 2 days. She has been sitting on 7 or 8 eggs for about 2 weeks now so they should hatch soon im exited! In a few weeks I will also move them to their outdoor coop near my Seramas. I plan to build a place for them to go outside since for now hey stay in a coop.
