Thank you for including the maps and how long it takes to get there! So helpful.
Great to here you found that info useful! All the best!
Can't thank you enough Tony! Your videos have been extremely helpful
So glad to hear that, Vaishnavi!
Excellent video suggests beautiful cities near Madrid. Useful information about buses and trains departing Madrid towards the city. I loved it 😍
Thank you very much, Yara, and all the very best to you in 2022!
Tony you are amazing. I really like your videos. The way you are explaining each & everything make your videos helpful for the people around the world. Thanks for sharing great videos...
Thank you for your kind words, Nishan!
Thank you once again for your beautiful video, very well chaptered and informative. Toledo here we come!
Thank you, hope you'll love Toledo as much as we do. Kind regards!
Hello Tony, just wanted to say thank you for all the excellent videos and suggestions. My husband and I are now in Madrid. During this trip we also visited Toledo, Segovia and Alcala de Henares. We particularly liked Alcala de Henares, which, without watching your videos, we wouldn’t have visited and enjoyed.
We're glad you liked Alcalá de Henares, it's a beautiful little town, isn't it. We're planning to return to it this summer so we can record a video about it.
This is exactly what I was looking for. I’m hoping to see these places . Great video thank you!
Great to hear that, have a great trip whenever you come to Madrid!
Another amazing video! You are the best!!!
Thank you for your kindness!
Thank you Tony for the beautiful video. Best wishes to you and your family for the New Year. !
Thank you, Greg, our very best wishes for you and your dear ones too. Happy New Year to you!
Thank you for sharing this review with transportation suggestions
Great to hear you found that piece of information useful, Stefany.
Hi Tony & Cecilia! I have watched many CZcams videos for research on our trip to Spain, but yours are the best by far...very informative and enjoyable to watch! I've been through 10 of your videos so far with many more to go, but I can't seem to find one on just Toledo. I did see it in Spanish on your other channel. Let me know if I missed it or if you plan to post it in English. Thanks so much for sharing your knowledge on Spain and Portugal! Kim
Dear Kim, thank you so much for your kind words, we were delighted to hear your opinions on our work. We haven't recorded that video on Toledo yet, it is on our wish-list, one day we'll get there. In the meantime, if you want to ask us any question on Toledo, go ahead! All the best.
Lovely cities indeed !!! 👍 Any of these cities is definitely worth the visit… a feast for the eyes !!! 😃 😃
Thanks for this wonderful video and all the very helpful tips !!! 👌
Sending you both all my best wishes for 2022 … HAPPY NEW YEAR 🎊 🎉 💥
Thank you, Jasper, and a superb 2022 for you, hope the new year bring joy to you and your dear ones! All the best!
Thank you. From your video, I would definitely go to first 3 you mentioned when I am in Madrid at the end of this year.
👍
We enjoy your videos. Very helpfull. We visit Spain soon in May
Great to hear that, Ana Rosa, hope you have a great trip!
Thanks for very useful information because I’ll visit Madrid this Friday!!!
Have a great trip!
I am very fond of your videos, not only this one but the entire series. They were all 100% professionally executed both in terms of information, presentation, video, picture and music. Hats off to you for all those videos made, thank you very much!!!
Thank you for your kind words, Max. Delighted to hear that.
Super useful 🎉🎉🎉 Great for tourists want to tour around outside of Madrid
Great to hear that!
Thanks for the informations, I used it when I reached the airport to Madrid city centre
Great to hear that, hope you had an easy transfer.
Thanks!
Appreciated!
Another great video! I agree, if you have time for just one, go to Toledo. In the summer, enjoy gazpacho Toledano!
Thank you, Toledo is simply extraordinary.
Thank you.
👍
I was choosing between Toledo and Escorial. Good that I came across your video. I almost missed Toledo.
Glad you chose Toledo. El Escorial is wonderful, but it is a single monument, whereas Toledo is an impressive city.
Hello Tony. Another beautiful and informative video planning our trip to Madrid. So thankful for you! I have a question about taking the train, well more on accessibility going to the train stations. I have a handicap son in a stroller. The nearest train station is Sol. If we have to go down the subway/ or train, is there an elevator to take us up and down? Will really appreciate knowing this info. Thank you very much.
Hi Edna, Sol station was reformed recently and it is an accesible station, there should be an elevator to take you down the station.
@@ROADTRIPSpainandPortugal Wonderful news! So we can take my son to see places. Hope other train stations are accessible friendly for my handicapped son. Especially we’re looking to visit Toledo. Thank you so much Tony!
@@ednalula2980 Toledo is quite a challenge as it is a city with many hills and irregular pavement.
Thank you for letting me know this about Toledo. I will just look for places to visit accessible friendly. Thank you so much again Tony!
Hi Tony, I love watching your videos and your commentary! I'm going to Madrid for the first time and debating on which hotel to stay at. As a local what do you think of the "Heritage hotel" or " Palacio de los Duques" ? I narrowed it down to these two but open to suggestions. Thanks
Hi Glenn, glad to hear you are enjoying our content. While both hotels are of an excellent standard, in terms of location the Palacio de los Duques has an unbeatable location, miles better than that of the Heritage Hotel. All the best!
@@ROADTRIPSpainandPortugal Thanks !! I will take your advice. And of course i'll keep watching your channel for more ideas.
Tony -
Thanks for all your super helpful videos.
I’ll be in Madrid September and was able to book my train ticket to Toledo (Thanks). Not sure how to buy a ticket to El Escorial. Is there a particular way to get that ticket?
Looking forward to seeing Spain and its wonderful sights!
Thanks again !! - Matthew
Hi Matthew, thanks so much for your kind words. On 4th September we have scheduled a video on El Escorial we hope it will answer all your questions. For your piece of mind, there is no need to buy anything in advance.
Segovia is amazing! But some caution...getting to your train at Chamartín station is very difficult! If you're in central Madrid, it will require a 30-40 minute metro ride. You think that's exhausting, just wait until you have to navigate Chamartín station! Chamartín train station is no Atocha, it is a dark confusing multi-storied maze, absolutely the worst station in Spain. To go from the metro to platform takes at least 15 minutes, but bank on 25 because you will get lost! You absolutely must book the train ahead of time online, you won't have time to buy it at the station! Madrid is so amazing but dear god they need to do something about Chamartín station.
Chamartín is undergoing a massive refurbishment that will last several years and will completely change its appearance.
We actually took a bus to Segovia from Moncloa station. The bus platform is inside the metro station. It’s very easy for us. There was just a short walk from the bus station in Segovia to reach the aqueduct. There are also paid washrooms in Segovia bus station which was convenient for tourists.
@@carolleung7614 we also find the bus a more convenient way of getting to Segovia.
Me encanta Toledo! He visitado cinco veces!
Es una ciudad increíble. En breve tendremos guía completa en el canal.
Best intro
👏👏👏
Hi Tony. Thank you again for your videos. What about las cascadas del purgatorio and manzanares el real is it worth it?
Hi Rafal, if you have your own transport, have been many times to Madrid and explored all the places we mentioned in the video, yes, they might be interesting to you.
@@ROADTRIPSpainandPortugal I have not. This is our first trip to Madrid. So I think I follow your recommendation 😁
Hi, your records are amazing and very informative, thanks for each of them 👏. Let me to ask your advice; We are planning to travel to Madrid and wish to visit Toledo as well. We understood that there is a bus (Alsa) and Train (Renfe) which can be used to go to Toledo from Madrid. In addition to that tourist travel pass zone T can also be used, but how? Can you advice how to reach to Toledo from Madrid by Tourist Travel pass zone T?
Thanks in advance, our best wishes.
Hi Burak, with the Tourist Ticket valid for zone T you can go to Toledo by bus, not by train. Just go the bus station in Plaza Elíptica and board the bus. Be aware the Tourist Ticket is now valid per calendar day and not per 24 hour period. If you begin using it at 4 pm, the first day will count until the end of that same day. All the best.
Excellent video Tony, an advice on hiring a car in Madrid? I was thinking drive my young family and exploring the majority of these cities before driving down south
Hi Vlad, we tend to go for one of the major rental companies, we've never had a bad experience with them (you know, Avis, Hertz, Budget, Europcar, Sixt). Compare the cost of renting from an office in the center of Madrid compared to the airport. All the best!
@@ROADTRIPSpainandPortugal thank you tony, much appreciated
Very informative, thanks! Advice please: Should you buy the ticket to Toledo online, in advance or just on the day at the station? Also, if online, do you need to change the e ticket for a 'proper 'ticket at the station, Or like Italy, there is a QR code and that is all you need? Thanks
Thomas, everyone wants to go on the same train to Toledo, so we always advise to buy the ticket a few days in advance. If you buy it from the ticket office at the station, you will also pay a surcharge. The QR code is enough.
Hello there, thanks for sharing this. Is there high speed train from Madrid to Porto or from any city in Spain to Portugal? Thanks for your help.
Thanks Jay, no, there no high-speed trains from Spain to Portugal. As a matter of fact, right now, there are no trains from Madrid to Portugal. You can see the reach of the Spanish high-speed network on the video we recorded recently: czcams.com/video/n_M20gV04OY/video.html All the best!
Hi Tony, how do I buy advance bus tickets to travel from Madrid to Segovia? Any website recommendations? I could not find available bus tickets in Trainline, Omio
Try here: www.avanzabus.com/linea-madrid-segovia/
Some great castle ruins around the capital. Check out Real Manzanares...super dench.
Thanks, James.
Hi Tony, are the places you mentioned in the video require entrance fee/tickets? And if so can we buy them online before we visit Toledo and Segovia?
Hi Mary, are you thinking of any place in particular, most places mentioned in the video are cities with numerous attractions. You need tickets for El Escorial, as shown here: czcams.com/video/GbNHJKyfmDs/video.html We have a video on Segovia for your questions on the city czcams.com/video/L9dLOVLoPU8/video.html and should have one on Toledo soon (but no need to prebook anything for Toledo).
Hola Tony 👋 What time do we have to leave Madrid for a trip to segovia... And what time do you suggest we return?
Hello there, try to leave from Madrid no later than 9 am, and plan to depart from Segovia on the way back at around 6 or 7 pm. All the best!
Hi Tony. I couldn't find a video specifically on visiting Toledo? Could you let me know if you have done one, and if so, where I can find it? I also have a specific question - do you think the land train trip up to the Mirador is worth doing if we are only there on a day trip from Madrid? Thanks.
Hi Jenny, our complete travel guide to Toledo will air on 3 March. Let us know if you are planning to go there before March so we can help you before your trip takes place.
Thanks, Tony. We leave for Spain on 4 March European time so might just catch it! We did have a couple of specific questions . One was about whether the land train trip is worth it if we're only there on a day trip. The other was about the weekly market. I understand it is on Tuesdays and wondered if that means it's a good day to make the trip or better to avoid it if it means everything is busier. We're so impressed by your fast response to our queries! Many thanks @@ROADTRIPSpainandPortugal
@@user-vi7to5ti1o I think there's a better alternative to the land train, you'll see the details on the video. We would not spend a second in the weekly market, it's a local market of no particular interest. We would only go there if you were planning to stay four days in Toledo. The market is outside the historic centre. No impact on daily life in the centre. All the best!
Thanks a lot, Tony. We will definitely try to see the video before we leave.
Hola Tony, do you have a video specially just for Toledo?
Not yet, should be ready before the end of the year. The most important city destination in Spain for which we don't have a video yet.
Hi Tony and Cecilia, we were wondering if it is necessary to buy our day trip train tickets in advance, or if we can purchase them day of travel, since the are local?
Thanks!
Hi Larry, in the case of local trains where no seat reservation is mandatory (or available at all) you can buy the tickets on the day of travel. In the case of high-speed trains (Toledo, Segovia), advance purchase is highly recommended. All the best!
@@ROADTRIPSpainandPortugal
Thank you for your timely and concise response!
Do you have a Patrion or Go fund me account, where we can contribute support towards your continued research and public interest video projects?
Thanks, your information is giving us great peace of mind and confidence in our upcoming travel adventure to España.
Cheers!

Hi Tony, Is driving to Toledo a good idea ? How is the parking in Toledo? Do you suggest driving to Toledo at all from Madrid ?
Hi Shakil, we wouldn’t drive to Toledo as you will have to pay for a car park. If you don’t mind that, and depending on the size of your party, it can be an option.
@@ROADTRIPSpainandPortugal Thank you so much.
Do you have a video on Toledo? It mentions it in the video but I can't seem to find it?
We don't have a video yet, we're working on it, would like to have it ready by September, we can't return to Toledo earlier than that.
@@ROADTRIPSpainandPortugal darn! We are going in a few weeks. any tips on a top 3 by any chance?! By the way, we are really enjoying your videos - very informative and practical tips as well. So helpful for planning Andalusia and Portugal. I notice you don't seen to have one on Granada that we could find? Keep up the good work and we look forward to watching the videos when they come available.
@@evelynseewald2270 in Toledo, buy the Tourist Wristband and visit all the monuments associated to it: toledomonumental.com/en/save-money-on-your-visit/ And visit the cathedral. We don't have a video on Granada on our English Channel yet, if you understand Spanish, we have several videos on our Spanish-language channel.
Hi, Tony....I will be visiting Madrid in a few weeks. I am looking forward to speaking a little Spanish while I am there, but I'm always a little unsure of when to use "tu" and when to use "usted." Could you explain that? Thanks!
In a nutshell: "usted" is used in formal contexts, "tú" in any other context.
@@ROADTRIPSpainandPortugal Which should I use with waiters, for example?
@@Lucy-statcrux it depends, it's impossible to cover all the nuances of language on the commentary box of a video about day trips from Madrid.
@@ROADTRIPSpainandPortugal hahah, sorry, me referia a Toledo

We don't see Salamanca as a day trip, hence, its absence from the listing.
