Thanks for the video Dubski, I’ve been struggling to make a decision on changing my rifle and your review has removed my doubts. I only hope we can get the folding AR stock here in the UK. All the best buddy and thanks again . Bison
Getting mine today with a 300 cc bottle, can’t wait to get my hands on it. Your reviews have a very large influence on my decisions on what I buy in air guns.
Because of this review I just got my compact in from Utah Airguns. Wow, what an amazing gun. Can’t wait to hit the range and see what it can do. Great review.
Great review Matt. I love ALL of your videos. The FX air rifles are far above my budget but I still enjoy the reviews and pesting videos using them. Thank you.
Would love to know the total & folded/'no stock' lengths on dreamline tac/lite compacts.... looking at your vid I'm guessing about 600-700 mm total/ 400-500 folded/stock off?
You convinced me. I ordered one in .22 months ago… still waiting. Utah Airguns had one in .25 caliber, so I bought it thinking that I would switch barrel to .22 later. I am so impressed with the performance of this gun that I will keep it as .25. I’m getting almost 44FPE with Benjamin pellets and FX Hybrid slugs. So far I have only shot them in my 10 meter indoor range making one-hole groups about 5/16”diameter. I’m looking forward to receiving the Hades pellets to see how they do.
@@stephanelapointe1 I just shot enough to see how many shots before down to regulator pressure for the first time. It took 53 shots before the velocity dropped 10 FPS. I was surprised to get that many from 230 bar to 125 bar at 42 foot pounds of energy . Firing that quickly causes the bottle to cool down, reducing the pressure. In a hunting situation, you could probably get a few more shots. The accuracy and consistency of this gun is really impressive.
@@stephanelapointe1 That was with 27.8 gr. Benjamin pellets at 827 FPS average. I have it tuned down slightly from my initial tune for better harmonics. The Hybrids are 835 FPS, but they are too expensive to count total shots on a fill. The barrel on the .25 is long enough that you can use a .42 Liter bottle for even more shot capacity, probably 75 shots.
After buying my fx impact mk ll I am sold on the fx brand ! This will be my next gun to buy . I might get a different barrel for the fx first but I want a smaller back pack model . Was looking at the edgun leshy untill I got a look at this . Im in ! "Deeds not words"
You probably know but the 480cc carbon bottle doesn't fit with the short barrel but you can use the 300cc slimline carbon bottle. Yes you did say later on you can upgrade to the 300cc carbon bottle.
You mentioned several times that the barrel is short and the rifle is compact, yet not once stated how long the barrel is? Also how long is the rifle with the stock folded? The FX website doesn't even state this.
the barell you have on that gun what isit or whats it called? 380mm straight barrel or is it custom? as the original short barrel has a thicker shroud after an inch or so from base?
Are you running two different moderators in this video on another note would you consider reviewing the falcon optics S18i rifle scope I'm looking at one of these to replace my optisan EVX
Been awhile since you posted this and don't really expect an answer. But what back pack was that. I like that top piece that seems to just fold over the top. Assume videos you make. I bought my fx because of you and the work you do.

Hey Matt all the compact barrels I’m seeing for sale for this gun have a different shroud that doesn’t allow the use of the he plenum or a bottle, where can I get one like this?
I just received my FX Dreamline from Utah Air Guns last week. The rifle came tuned from the store shooting 15.83 grain 880FPS. My trigger hammer, transfer port are both set to Max. My regulator is set to 125 BAR. With this set up I barely make it through my 18 shot magazine with the air in my cylinder depleting to the point where my regulator pressure starts to drop as well. Mr. Trek64,
WARNING!
math follows:
((230Bar - 125Bar - 1Bar) x 14.504psi + 14.7psi) x 12" x 12" x 170 cc /(2.54cm x 2.54cm x 2.54cm) / (12" x 12" x 12") x 7,000 grains / {53.43 x (70F + 459.67) x 15+/-1shot) = 21.713 grains of air per shot for a 15 shot count.
15.83 x 880 fps x 880 fps / 450,436.6798 = 27.215 fpe per shot
So, 27.215 / 21.713 = 1.2534 fpe per grain of air.
That is a terrible ratio that can only be interpreted as too high a power setting that will sacrifice the shot count "efficiency".
230 Bar tank fill

To give you an idea of what the ratios and proportions say about efficiency, expect a 1 fpe per grain of air at around 165 Bar regulator, and 6 fpe per grain of air at 65 Bar regulator set point.
As a rule of thumb because you can play with the hammer spring compression (Not TENSION), the valve opening and valve spring closing then there is the weight (mass) of the pellet, barrel length, pellet contact area with the barrel as it travels down the bore.
You can not have your cake and eat it to. You have to decide what are your priorities such as velocity, power, shot count, precision, accuracy.
Precision is repeatability
Accuracy is hitting the target
First, close your group size as much as you can then move the group size into the target.
Start at no higher than 889 fps then tune down for better accuracy, if you go above then you will get more power at the expense of accuracy, but then more power might give you better long range accuracy at the expense of going through the transonic curtain into the sound barrier of Mach 1 where the coefficient of drag goes from the square of the velocity to the six square of the velocity, which is a very highly difficult region to calculate. I describe it as "pissing into the wind".
I kept the math simple for easy entry into a calculator without the algebraic gymnastic.
Try to work towards a ratio of 3 fpe per grain of air, which will give you the middle ground for power and efficiency, but what good is it to get a 1,000 shot count and not be able to land a single pellet on target, or do a tank dump of one shot and blow the target and holder off, if you don't spiral away, or jump off and away by the plethora of other physics phenomenon.
If you are not going to use a moderator, go for the 580 cc bottle and stick with 889 fps, or less.
Another way to calculate is to get no more than 1.7543210 fpe per grain of pellet to give you the BEST combination of Power and Accuracy at the fulcrum. Don't worry about shot count unless you are going to be plinking soda cans.
Work towards getting 20 shots into a one inch target as that will be your hunting distance. What good is it to have a gun that shoots like a laser, but you can't land a shot inside a one inch target?
As you get better, move the one inch target farther. Tune your gun to stay inside the one inch target, which means you start at the maximum power then tune down for less power in exchange for more accuracy. Of course you are not going to sacrifice 20 fpe loss to get 0.001 inch better accuracy. You will know what you can live with.
