I can’t imagine a world without cell phones. WE LIVE IN A WORLD FILLED WITH EVIL. I was mourning this morning the sad things.
I needed to go to the hospital today, first time going there in a different city. Phone wasn't working so I couldn't gps the address. It was so frustrating. I can't imagine if the the network goes down permanently in some distant future.
Makes sense. I’m in Texas and haven’t had service for hours now drove across Arkansas and it went out. I’m on Wi-Fi, but this is crazy. Phone is on SOS mode.
Hi Everyone! I'm a teenager and my mom had just gone to drop my sister off at work and we had realized we couldn't call OR text. So I took the time to see what resources I had available. If you have Microsoft Teams, Whatsapp, Google Meets, Google chat, etc. And your family has it as well you MIGHT be able to get through to them!! Do NOT panic! Look at your resources and have a clear mind and find a way to contact your loved ones. There's always a way! Let other people know this too if you're able! Stay safe out there!

Most use actual cameras and sensors with onboard computers to drive themselves. If it doesn’t, don’t get it, because then it’s glorified cruise control. You can tell which is which when it refuses to work in certain locations

Businesses issuing "refunds" would simply have the accounting dept., write-off those refunds as "expenses" so net-contributing taxpayers and therefore some "customers" will end up paying for it anyway.

I never got rid of my land line. When we had this major earthquake in VA years ago, it affected the cell phones. People could not get make calls, but I was able to use my land line without issues.

I remember when Sandy hit the East Coast and both my parents were still alive they were doing great with the fireplace and kind of living off the grid. They were kind of disappointed when the power came back, which cracked me up. We as a society take so many things for granted.
ATT has 241milliom active customers, selective targeting
its mostly AT&T, other major providers isnt having the same issue, the reports from Downdetector from T-Mobile and Verizon are because they can't reach people with AT&T. Whoever has AT&T and can't switch providers soon due to contract and deals, we all taking A HUGE L together.

@yugbirsingh1828, I had AT&T landline, long distance and internet in the past but when they were pushing the contracts and ridiculous "ETF's" etc., I could not continue with service. I didn't like TWC's "go up on cable service every few months" but eventually they pulled back a little just as they did when they considered forcing BW caps which is something AT&T employed and I also could not stand. BW caps are absolutely insane and TWC backed off of that. After they worked out the "network issues" that had to do with old cabling and cards in their systems, the service has worked flawlessly for years. Never had any issues with the data network making calls, surfing the net on mobile etc., and still no contracts, no ETF's etc. I couldn't believe AT&T would basically charge their customers hundreds of dollars "NOT TO HAVE SERVICE" if you ended your service before the contract period was up. Absolutely disgusting business practice. I saw people trying the service and after 1-3 months decided they didn't like it, didn't meet their needs etc., and then they couldn't even cancel without being hit with ~$200+ ETF....
Amazing how much of our lives is dependent upon smartphones.
I'm in Louisiana. There was a massive outage over this past weekend. I had AT&T wireless outage from Friday, February 16, 2024 to Sunday, February 18, 2024. This is no new news.
An ATM here in Daytona Beach malfunctioned and is literally spitting out money when you withdrawal. Walmarts online payment processor is down. When their payment system is down they have what’s called offline mode. That means NO MATTER WHAT it will approve your purchase with debit/credit and when their system is back online they will run the transaction against the card. This is going to be a hell of a day!

The big thing here is not so much the outage, but the lack of communication from AT&T. Customers received absolutely no notifications from AT&T during this entire situation. Outrageous.

@@KungPowKatie No email was sent about the outage either. Also, texts should get through with wifi calling enabled or texts should get through once service is restored. I heard nothing from AT&T. Also, no notification of the outage in the MyAT&T app. Total radio silence from AT&T. Unacceptable.

One of the main reasons amateur radio, also known as ham radio, is very vital to being available across the world as it can provide communications for emergencies where as commercial methods can fail.
I have Cricket, and my service dropped out last night. I don't know what time I finally got service back,but I believe it was sometime this morning almost afternoon.

omg im kinda over the addicted to your phone thing when basically everything is digital now kind of hard to do alot of stuff without using your phone, im 22 and don’t leave around any family and my mom can’t even call me! this is why its important to stop relying on technology for everything, right now i don’t even care about social media i care about my banking and reaching my family, im glad i know my way around the city without maps cause that would be terrible and i would be stuck in the house today.
I’m on Puretalk which uses AT&T towers. I’m in Ohio and the problem is widespread here. I can text and use WiFi but not everyone can.

When verizon came to install fiberoptic several years ago and there was a power outage. A few days later when there was still a power outage i picked up our land line and it was not working. I called Verizon and was told they cut the copper land line. When I inquired as to why - as that land line never failed and our alarm and smoke detector system was attached to that landline they did not care.
Guessing the ‘other’ networks may have been using leased AT&T lines in certain locales?

We left AT&T and went with Consumer Cellular..started having problems where it would go from Wifi to the 4g, then found out they are an affiliate of AT&T...go figure ☹.

This is bad bro.. it's not 32k people.. I just drove back from Virginia and it was out the entire 350 miles to Columbus.. everywhere we stopped along the way noone had service.

What happened to the point to point backup system they were talking about. Phone to phone to tower if out of range. Seems it would be a good backup for problems like this. Especially with the announcement of hacking attempts from China and Russia.
