    I feel like Honky Tonk has always massively overestimated the potential longevity and likability of his gimmick.

    • @cutekanjii
      @cutekanjii Před 5 měsíci +1

      Underestimated it more like. As Elvis will be known forever and there always will be Elvis impersonators to go along with that forever and secretly or in some cases not so secretly people have a dislike for them. They always seem to think they are the greatest one and not only are a dead ringer for but sound exactly like Elvis to the point they think they are him. However in actual fact most people think they are nothing like him, pathetic & are ridiculous. That's why the gimmick got over he was such an extreme impersonator that he thought he was original, above Elvis & Elvis copied him.

      Honky Tonk cuts a good shoot interview and comes off as a legit good guy but that WCW thing was suspect. He also had next to none crowd reaction with the brief Santino run recently which was unfortunate but you got to see eventually his poor fitness regime which is just his own lazy fault.

    • @williamfrederick5058
      @williamfrederick5058 Před 3 lety +3

      They weren't the most viewed shows because of his writing. A monkey could've wrote and had success with Austin and The Rock. It's like when Barry Switzer won the Superbowl with Jimmy Johnson's roster in Dallas. Besides, it hasn't been wrestling since 85 when Vince turned everyone into cartoon characters.

    • @williamfrederick5058
      @williamfrederick5058 Před 3 lety +4

      MS: Yeah, I'm gonna call b.s. on that. Before Vince flushed the industry down the toilet, there were no scripted promos. Guys weren't told words they weren't allowed to use. Legends like Tommy Rich, Dusty, Jake Roberts, The Road Warriors, The Horsemen, and dozens more didn't need a script and it came off much more natural. Vince's little fantasy world of "wrestling" garbage men, repo men, roosters, Elvis impersonators, monks, gobbledy gookers has been trash since the day he took over. It's hysterical that a guy like Terry Taylor, who was an accomplished professional, would reduce himself to the little red rooster character. And Russo's garbage wasn't about the wrestling, it was about what ridiculous, awkward position he could put the women in. He was a hack. If Russo is so great, why is he still unemployed?

    • @williamfrederick5058
      @williamfrederick5058 Před 3 lety +2

      I'll say again, Austin and The Rock were going to be huge even if a 3rd grader was booking it. They were going to be huge no matter what. While Vince (McMahon) has wiped his ass with the business for 30+ years, there have been some good things to come out of it. Austin, Rock, Taker. I can't stand Shaun at all, but he's probably the best worker ever.

    I don't think Bischoff knew what he was doing overall. Creating the NWO, turning Hulk Hogan heel and Goldberg are probably the highlights of his time at WCW. However, Bischoff didn't push the other talent he had on the roster besides the NWO and a select few like Goldberg. After a while, the NWO became boring because it was pretty much the same thing every week. Also my opinion, having the Hogan vs Goldberg match on an episode of WCW/Nitro may have brought them good ratings, but it would've been a big payday for them had it been a pay per view. Bischoff cared too much about the ratings.

    • @larryhenry6040
      @larryhenry6040 Před 2 lety

      @Jesse Calarco first of all what I said was my opinion. I said what I said and I meant what I said as a wrestling fan. Not to mention I've never liked Bischoff, though I do give him some credit for some of the things he did. This goes all the way back to my high school days when the Monday Night War was going on. What you said is pointless because Dave Meltzer, nor Vince Russo nor anyone else had anything to do with my views towards Bischoff. Smh. Using common sense is much better than assumption. Learn to not assume things towards a person especially when you don't know a person. Unless of course you have the gift of readng minds, which clearly you don't, considering how wrong your assumptions were in your response. Have a nice day sir.

    • @larryhenry6040
      @larryhenry6040 Před 2 lety

      @Jesse Calarco Lol carbon copy. Its more like a coincidence. Like I said my opinion and they had nothing to do with it. If it's similar as you claim then hey o well I could careless. Deal with it . Bischoff did not push alot of the talent he had. It was mainly about NWO every week. I don't need to listen to Dave Meltzer to know that, why because I watched the product. Like I said I do give Bischoff some credit because he did come up with some good ideas. The NWO and the Hogan heel turn were two of his best. Goldberg was great as well. As time went on the NWO angle got boring and stale. I agree it's because of him WCW was ruling the Monday Night War. However, though I feel the way I feel about Bischoff, I feel like hiring Russo was a big mistake because he was running WCW into the toilet. When I say that Bischoff didn't know what he was doing, I feel like he didn't try to improve on his creativity. That's just my opinion man. I mean Jesus Christ man relax. Its just an opinion based on what I saw as a wrestling fan. If you don't agree with me that's fine. No need to come off, making assumptions because like I said you don't know me. I could be wrong, but you seem to be a passionate person about wrestling. I am also. We can agree/disagree respectfully sir. Enjoy your weekend. Be safe
