IDF Ex-General Warns Hezbollah Winning War In North, Israeli Ministries Spar On French Truce Bid

- A former Israeli military commander has “acknowledged defeat” in the war with Hezbollah as tensions run high along the Israeli-Lebanese border. Yiftah Ron-Tal, ex-major general in the Israeli army, said Tel Aviv lost control over the Galilee region adjacent to the Lebanese border, as per a report by Al-Ahed News. The ex-Israeli military officer’s statement came as Hezbollah fired 35 rockets on Kiryat Shmona and the nearby community of Kfar Szold on June 14, as per the IDF. Several of the rockets were intercepted, the IDF said, while others impacted the area, causing damage in Kiryat Shmona and sparking a fire near Kfar Szold. In response, fighter jets hit several sites belonging to the armed group in Odaisseh and Kafr Kila, said the Israeli army. Amid the escalation, Iran’s interim Foreign Minister Ali Bagheri Kani has cautioned Israel against waging a war on Lebanon. Meanwhile, a rare public spat opened up between leading Israeli ministries over France’s proposal to defuse tensions with Hezbollah.
