I have visited Katsu's grave (Okumura family) in a small temple in Tokyo. Naturally I offered sake. There were other offerings as well.

No mercy , no prisoners , that's message from Ichi .
While Ichi is lethal, I think that's something he wouldn't say. That would be more suitable for someone who has no mercy, but Zatoichi does. In fact, they show it to you in the episode itself, at the beginning, when he spares the life of the samurai who wanted to kill him.
