The most heartbreaking episode was definitely Stephanie finding out about her classmate Charles' abusive father. Although she does the right thing by telling Danny, it's bittersweet in that we never hear more about what happened to Charles later on.

If you think about it, Steph went through the most issues out of her siblings
    - Losing her mom at a young age

    - Witnessing a friend (Charles) deal with abuse
    etc.

Now I’m starting to think about the equivalent of that moment in the sequel series that was prompted when Max was about to hang a fire helmet ornament on the Christmas tree until he dropped it and broke. His dad died in the line of duty while serving as a firefighter. This means the premise of the sequel series is gender-flipped from that of the original series, meaning that DJ is now the one who has to sustain widowhood while raising her three sons. The home movies in this case were shown on one of those new fangled devices like I obviously expected, as technology has come quite a long way since then.

@@MASTEROFEVIL my friend didnt show up for church one sunday...my mom made the point that my friend's parents NEVER come to church without their son. Then he didnt come to school monday and tuesday, I told my mom and we both knew something was VERY wrong. So I called him and he told me that he was trying to do homework when his father walked in and gave him a list of chores (it was literally 5 or 6 hours worth of chores, they made him clean up all of their shit EVERY DAY). My friend finally stuck up for himself and told his dad that he had to do his homework. An argument ensued that ended up with my friend's dad throwing him against the door, he had a mark on his head from the door and a mark on his chest from the doorknob. I didnt see him for 3 days because his parents were trying to hide the evidence. When he finally told me I went straight to the principal and reported it. Unfortunately they did NOTHING, the report was never sent to the police. So when I got home from school that day I had my mom call his sister, grandma, and aunt/uncle. He lived in my neighborhood so I was messaging him on Myspace (this was 2007) telling him to run over here and never look back, and if he did he would never have to go back. Thankfully he did what I asked, he ran over to my house as fast as he could. So when he was finally here my family and his family called the cops and told them what was up. The cops went and knocked on his parents door. Because his dad and stepmom didnt answer the door the cops let him stay with his aunt and uncle for the night, and eventually the court found his dad and stepmom to be incapable of raising a child, so he never had to go back, not even for one night. He lived with his aunt and uncle in a beautiful house literally on top of a mountain. He never had to go back. He got married to his wife in Paris a couple years ago. He went on a mormon mission to Mexico. He is now a successful photographer in Los Angeles. So that's what happened

Great list. I loved this show, and it did a great job of bringing these issues to light. One thing they should've added to the "loss" part (after the girls' mom) was Papouli's death (jesse's grandfather). I remember seeing that around age 10 or 11, and it really got to me. The rawness of the next morning after he died, and even the part where Jesse was trying to distract himself being busy/making arrangements etc, until the end of the episode when him & Michelle are out in the backyard and they finally cry together, letting it all out...talk about a good cry!

I grew up as a middlechild and the only daughter and I always saw Stephanie as my favorite character on the show. I was only three years old when the show started, so I understood better as I grew older why that was. Her storyline appealed much to me. Growing up it was the getting picked on and peer pressure particularly, and something I didn't connect the dots on while witnessing it, was a friend of mine who was verbally abused by members of her family. I fortunately didn't loose a parent when I was a child, but I lost my Dad when I was 22 and I can definetely relate to the feelings of loss Stephanie went through. It's a pain that never goes away, particularly when there are family milestones he will never witness. Like when my brother got married and when my niece was born. I will likely be a total wreck when I get married and he won't be there to give me away. Hashtag love Stephanie Tanner.

Losing a parent is not easy, and I wish I had been able to remember the episodes that touched on it when I lost my mum to cancer. I was 11 at the time. The first Mother’s Day without her was tough for several reasons, but mostly because of school.
A week of activities where we would write about and prepare cards for our mums. I was the only one writing in past tense and colouring a puzzle sheet because I didn’t feel right making a card for anyone else when it was supposed to be for Mum…and it wasn’t like I could just leave one at her grave because it could get blown away or ruined by the rain. Then came the day of the Mother’s Day stall. The first one I wasn’t buying her a present. Again, it felt wrong to get something for someone who wasn’t her. And on top of that, I had to deal with bullies teasing me about her being gone. “I got my mum this, what did you get for yours? Oh right, you can’t get anything for her because she’s dead.” I had already dealt with bullies hassling me for years but that was the first time I actively wanted to slap them and get them to shut up.
Then came the Sex Education night where we had to attend with a parent or guardian of the same gender for when we split into groups. If it hadn’t been for my great-aunt (Dad’s aunt who has since passed away) stepping up where all else let me down, I would have had to miss out. Even though the school knew (my teachers had attended Mum’s funeral and a notice about her passing away during the Christmas holidays was in the school newsletter), they said I wasn’t even allowed to attend with Dad.
I’m just glad they didn’t have any Mummy-Daughter activity days outside of Sex Education Night.
Then there was always that feeling of grief that hit whenever I saw my friends with their mums.
It never got easier. It’s been 25 years since Mum died, and it never gets easier. I still miss her and want her to come back, especially in my most vulnerable moments.
Nobody is ever prepared for such…

It's a fairly realistic plothole for the time though. If you blew the whistle on that, it wasn't a given that you would ever know how it was resolved.

@@KaijuganI get that. Although I haven't watched the show in decades, there was an instance from an early season where a young relative named Howie stays with Michelle for one episode and she becomes devastated after he leaves. Much later in the series, he comes back and she dismisses him for "being a boy" if memory serves. So that comes back into play over any other more serious plot. Not sure if it was even the same actor or not. Seeing Charles on Fuller House would be a stretch, though; since that storyline only existed in that one episode. But yeah, still would've been a touching surprise.
