Ram Promaster City: Front Brake Job
Vložit
- čas přidán 19. 04. 2019
- In this video I knock out some front pads and rotors on a 2016 Ram Promaster City. Pretty simple job. It does use an electronic wear indicator on the front pads but other than that pretty standard. -Enjoy!

It's not that we want to watch the brake jobs...
We just want to hang out in the shop with you.
Thanks for that!
every time a friend's dog escaped, she'd find him hanging out at the garage around the corner... I had to explain to her that it's a guy thing.
Totally agree
Yup! This is exactly it!
Yup! we all should meet up and bring brakeleen, and beer to the men cave at"sma"just see Eric o change brakes.HELL YEAH!!
@@thehemiolds455 I just did a brake inspection on my F-150 yesterday (which resulted in having to disassemble, clean, and re-lube the rear brakes). A couple of my buddies stopped by my shop and hung out. We've all done hundreds of brake jobs - it's all about hanging out, much like watching these SMA videos. Funny side note - prior to tearing into my truck, I stopped by my local Carquest and picked up a case of brake cleaner (it was on sale!) and immediately thought of Eric O.
"how many brake jobs will you guys watch??" ALL of 'em damnit!!
Eric, it's not that we need to see every brake job you do... it's seeing someone who takes pride in their work and always does the work correctly! And your sense of humor always makes it enjoyable--no matter what you are doing! Thanks for posting, and keep up the good work!
3-4 break jobs videos a day? Sign us up!
You make em' we'll watch em'
We will watch all of your brake videos Eric o
How many brake jobs will I watch? As many as you put up. Happy Easter Eric O!
This was NOT a video by Eric O of South Main Auto Repair !
The air compressor didn't turn on once during this video.
Ummmm.... brake job and NO brake cleaner?!!??! I feel cheated ;)
You got the big nasty jingle and the brand new fluid film 'bahhhh'. I'd say, for the money, it was a pretty good episode. :D
No happy ending w/out brake clean :-(
No break clean....I’m hurt.
Eric has even said a number of times that you can't have a brake job without brake cleaner. I think Russia has gotten involved and is negatively influencing Eric's stuff.
man you cant use break clean with electronic break pads lmao
Watching brake jobs is my zen... could watch you do them all day! Need a Big Nasty T-shirt option in your merch!
The RAM meets the EWE!.
More brake jobs, just for the sound effects, and more names for New York salt corrosion. From full on Can Bus interrogation to spannering.
Many thanks for sharing and best regards from the UK.
I watch ALL your brake videos 😜. But I missed the brake cleaner so I had my wife play the sound effect while I substituted using my own can. 😁
Something cathartic in brake jobs, can watch them all day.
Yea!!! FF sound effects!!! Bah Ram Euwhh!! My life is complete!! Thank You Mr. O!!!! Sweeet!!!!!!!
I wish he'd add like a cat going "Reow!" every time something crashed from falling. Like that one vid where the Mazda rotor flew across the room. CRASH! REOW! WOAH LIL FELLA!
I have done hundreds of brake jobs and I can always learn something new
I love doing brake jobs, and I love watching brake jobs. It’s just relaxing to me. 🤣😂🤣🤷🏾♂️
In answer to your question: We will watch as many brake job videos as you post. Almost always learn something new - like electronic brake pads! Who knew???????
Will watch EVERY brake job video. Learn something new every time! Ive actually gotten good at doing brakes now thanks to you. Love the FF Sheep sounder too. Bravo!
Finally I video where taking out old disk doesn't get skipped.. thanks a billion
I will watch all the brake jobs. Considering you're dangerously close to 300k subs, I'm certain I'm not the only one. Early Congrats, Mr. O!
Artillery, 357 Magnum and Big Nasty all require hearing protection.Good job !
Nothing like the taste of salty iron dust in the morning. Great new sound affects. I watch every dang one.
I was just looking for a SMA video and BAM 1 minute later a new video
Bring it on Eric, we will watch them all. Saturday night treat, just came in from the garage and there is a new video from SMA, perfect, can of beer and a video. Brakes, clutch, head gasket we don't care, we just love watching.
i like brake jobs personally. there are so many different kinds of brake assembly so it's a great thing to make videos like this.
The goat bahhing when you put on the fluid film was awesome.
It made me do a double take..
I thought it was WEAK, NO LIKEY. It should scare you kind of like the brake clean.
Sheep, not a goat. Can't you tell the difference? LOL
To those who might not remember, Fluid Film has lanolin - a product from sheep! Hence Eric's sheep noises while he sprayed the protectant...
That goat was a sheep. Fluid Film contains Lanolin from sheeps wool. It's what water proofs the sheeps wool.
@kat n al If the sheepies don't get sheered every season their wool just keeps growing. Then they have big woolie jumpers that weigh them down.
I have been there with the emergency throw it into park right before you hit your garage door because you forget to pump up your brakes. Gets the heart pumping!
How many brake jobs will we watch? ALL of ‘em!! It’s more than entertainment or information; it’s stress relief! I dare say three or four a day would keep me in trouble with the lil Mrs. for not gettin’ enough of my own projects done, tho’.
Thanks, Eric, for sharing ‘em.
He has come along way from his first youtube videos. Definitely getting more and more comfortable in front of camera.
I'll watch as many brake jobs as you can produce. By the way, your Chevy engine replacement videos save me 4K. Shop in TX wanted 6K, but I found a used one with 72K actual miles. Took me my son 3 days to swap it out. Most importantly, the boy learned tons; and he makes the dramatic "break cleaner" sound now. So, thanks 'ol boy for all the help.
I echo others, no brake clean! But we got Big Nasty in action! I too would watch every brake job. Keep 'em coming!
I've done hundreds of these Ford/Fiat/European style front brakes, I could probably do them with my eyes closed. But I still watched and enjoyed the video. 👍
I LOVE the fact the Big Nasty has his own theme song now!
As many as you put out, but I also wanna see big nasty, brake cleaner and fluid film. Great vids, love that you don't curse, thanks for keeping it clean.
Regarding how many brake job videos we, the audience, have watched, the simple answer is lots. The unfortunate part of that is so many service people who make their living doing brake jobs have never watched any videos at all and it is reflected in the quality of their work. ( The last shop that touched any of my brake systems was a Honda shop and it was my motorcycle. When I left the shop I had to go down a back alley and out onto a busy street. Imagine my surprise when I sailed past the Stop sign and out into the street in front of a vehicle because, you guessed it, I had no front brakes. Seems the Tech had forgotten to pump the calipers up in his hurry to get it out the door and on to the next victim. The shop Foreman, the Tech, and the Shop Owner all swore up and down that all bikes were test driven before being handed back to the customer. ) So you keep making the videos and we will keep watching and maybe, just maybe, some of those "techs" will learn to watch with us so they can learn how to do it the right way instead of their way................just sayin
I only watch yours, buddy! 😊 Oh, and I love the little lamb sound for Fluid Film! 😄
Interesting little truck there. I just did a car recently with a sensor in the brake pad - I was thinking to myself, "Whiskey Tango Foxtrot is this??" 😁 Think it was a newer Vee Dub - might have even been the one that's on my lift right now for a new oil pan. I know exactly what Peepaw Smith would've said regarding these newfangled sensors (TPMS and pad): "What the hell's the matter with people in the future? They stupid er somethin'?" 🤣
Speakin' of Vee Dubs ... got to get back out there & finish one - the parts just came in for it. Time to begin battle. Got the oil pan off, front member hanging. Got to zip off the oil pump, remove front engine mount, clean up the gasket surface, then install the new pump, o-ring & pickup tube/screen, then I can throw the brandy new pan back on, and wrestle with that engine cradle ... member ... whatever the heck they call the stupid thing. Might be the last one I ever do. What a PAIN. I started filming this one over a week ago - guess I've gotta finish. Going to be heavily edited for language, lol ... just like when you forgot to put the lube on the outer part of the caliper ... only alot more of that. 😜
watched at least 60 - 11 brake jobs , enjoy all your videos, thank you eric O , yes I am old :)
I never tire watching a master performing his craft. I did notice that "every HAMMER has a TOOL end". Thanx 4 the vids.
I've seen enough brake jobs, however on a newer vehicle like this with a new wire or freakin sensor to deal with it is nice to see one done. Thanks for the vid!!!
So satisfying to watch you do it not so much if I have to do the breaks.
It’s not the cars or trucks you work it’s how you work on them. You explain things very well and the views you give are great. It’s like watching over your shoulder.
As long as your doing the brake job videos Eric O I can watch them all the time very entertaining
There are NEVER enough brake jobs!
(Plus I LOVE the time lapse road tests!)
You have to do more a day in the shop videos. There are so funny your commentary is genius and hysterical. a the way you annoy your wife sometimes is also hysterical. I say every two weeks a day in the shop video should come out.
I watch/will watch all of them lol!
I like watching brake jobs. I got a list of things you do now.
brake job videos never get old, keep pouring them out Eric!
Eric the brake job videos are awesome. Never stop them!
"How many brake jobs are you guys gonna watch?" As many as you make Eric, I'll watch 'em all.
I would watch as many as you film if you are looking a number maybe a couple of thousand. Also like mattmanyam said We just want to hang out with a mechanic that takes pride in what he does. Also you are about the only youtuber that will show the mistakes, blunders and when things just go wrong in hopes we the people will learn from them. You have a sense of humor like no other You make me laugh!!
We watch you brake job and sometime get new trip from your great Mima and get to hang out with you again👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍 there is great information that come out from SMA
Thank you for calling out what special tools i needed for this job just finished this on a 2019 promaster
The return of Big Nasty, awesome new Fluid Film SFX AND a brake job... now my day is complete! The only thing that would make the video better would be a little snarky dialog between you and the lovely Mrs. O. Best to you and yours!
I could watch Eric O. do brake jobs all day.
Outstanding sound for the Fluid Film! Baa Baa LOVE IT!!!
Left scotty kilmers channel to watch this upload...
I used to kinda like Kilmer videos, once I got past the annoying borderline screaming. Is he losing his marbles? I've recently unsubscribed.
I just watch Scotty out of morbid curiosity lol
Watch Scotty so you know what not to do.
I guess he's pretty good about what NOT to buy as long as you like Toyota's or MT Honda's. I think his heart's in the right place.
Many years ago, before I even found any good car channels like this one, I started clicking the Not Interested option on every one of his videos CZcams recommended and telling it I wasn't interested in his channel. I haven't seen one of his recommended for a loooong time and I definitely haven't gone looking for him.
You can do all the brake jobs you like. I am amazed that I learn something new due to all the re-engineering that is going on.
Never gets old.... 👍
Thanks for the video.
Always learning something new.
I watch all your brake job videos. They're all the same but they're all equally good.
Thanks! Nice to be able to see what I will be getting into 👍🏼
I will watch as many brake job videos as you want to upload! Love the videos, keep up the good work!
If it's an SMA brake job I'm watching it. Keep creating the great content.
Great video, thx for sharing. Happy Easter.
Repetition is the key to learning. I think I watched Eric do that Honda Ridgeline timing belt three or four times before I got the courage to do my granddaughters Accord. There’s nothing like watching a pro to boost your knowledge and confidence. Thanks Eric!
I like to watch your brake videos, I learn a lot about newer cars. Brakes are my favorite part of automotive repair
I remember Rose, and I’m the same age as you. When I was a kid it was on tv when I got home from school. We only had 2 channels back then.
Thanks for the video today. Happy Easter to you and your family.
For me I enjoy seeing all the different ways of doing something as simple as brakes. This video was the first time I saw a wire run into the brake pad. Glad you mentioned how it is expected to work. At the beginning I was just about to back it up to see when you removed the wheel studs and why. Then you mentioned it didn't have any. I think the wheels would be a lot of fun to change a flat in the rain! Then change the wheel hub because the threads are damaged from being cross threaded. And then the excitement of you removing the rotors. Wondering how many of your bones are going to get broken. (or cut your air hose) So keep them coming apparently there is a lot out there too see and enjoy watching.
Another great one Eric O. I like the brake jobs, keep them coming.
The brake videos are awesome! Keep ‘em coming.
I like watching your brake job videos, each one has something a little different as far as hardware or fastners. I've learned a lot and did front brakes on my 2000 Chevrolet Astro van as a result. Thanks for taking time to make these videos.
Everyone of yours Eric. Happy Easter ❤️️
Can't beat an SMA brake job !
Sma brake videos never get old, keep them coming. Happy Easter eric o and family.
You did it once again Sherlock 101 points you make it all look so EASY

Never enough brake jobs--keeps the lights on. Enjoy all your videos. Thanks, Jim
Another great Brake Job.

Watched the vid to get a better idea of maintenance on the beast.
We love your brake jobs you're a soothing voice during break time first time I've ever seen a plug-in brake pad see every brake job video it's worth the time I agree though didn't see any fhaahboom brake cleaner
You keep recording brake jobs and I'll keep hanging out in the shop with you. I wrench in the south, so watching you work in the rust belt is cool.
Thank you for being a friend.... Another Great video thxs for it
