- Welcome to our MARVEL Reaction series! Meg has seen next to nothing of the Marvel movies, and Caleb has seen a bit more, and read more of the comics! Most of this series will be first time reactions, but we will let you know at the beginning of each video specifically.

IT'S HAPPENING. OMG IT'S HAPPENING. EVERYONE STAY F*CKING CALM
AAAAAAAAHHHHH
The second film in the series is The Incredible Hulk which also cane out in 2008. Iron Man 2 was 2010. While Hulk feels skippable, it isn't.
Part of what makes a reaction interesting is the perceptiveness of the reactor. You noticed a lot of what really makes these movies awesome. If you had fun with this, you'll love what's coming up, they just get better and better. 💙
Don't forget to spot Marvel Universe co-creator Stan Lee's cameo in every movie! He shows up like Hitchcock. He was mistaken for Hugh Hefner by Tony on the red carpet.
"Iron Man 2" is next chronologically followed by "Incredible Hulk" even though Hulk was released earlier. A scene from the middle of "Incredible Hulk" is shown on a viewscreen at the end of "Iron Man 2" indicating that Tony's adventure is wrapping up while Hulk is still in the middle of his. The companion One-Shot, "The Consultant", that accompanies "Incredible Hulk" is also dependent on what happens at the end of "Iron Man 2" therefore it should be seen first.
"Hulk" (2003) directed by Ang Lee was Marvel's first attempt at a shared cinematic universe. It features the Hulk's origin story and should be seen if you know nothing of the character. It is NOT part of the MCU but has enough connective tissue that one can include it if one chooses. It's origin sequence is closer to the comic origin than the MCU movie and it is the ONLY Hulk film to feature classic desert battles with the Army. It also ENDS where "Incredible Hulk" BEGINS! I recommend seeing it before "Incredible Hulk". The cast is excellent, the director is critically acclaimed, the score is amazing and the film, while problematic, has merit.
Do you have patreon or something where we could watch full watch-along reaction?
At the time Iron Man came out, Marvel Studios was on the edge of bankruptcy, and Robert Downy Junior was a recovering addict who was struggling to rebuild his acting career. This film was a moment of redemption for both Marvel and RDJ, and the start of a partnership that would see both parties flourish.
That's...debatable, especially nowadays.
RDJ nearly didn't get his last role before that (the Val Kilmer detective story "Kiss Kiss Bang Bang") because no insurance company would put up the "completion bond" (the money the studio gets if the actor can't make it through filming) on his behalf. IIRC, Kilmer put the money up for Robert, because he believed in him.
And the casting really went for proven actors, rather than random pretty faces, because they knew how much depended on this. (Marvel was trying to bring all their movies in-house, rather than selling off characters as they had in the 1990s.) So we get three Oscar-winners, and RDJ had been nominated (for "Chaplin", back in 1990) and nobody ever thought his problem was a lack of talent.
@@domidium literally not debatable, the marvel movies 1000% were flourishing before endgame, after is a different story altogether
@@kplayzxp2376 That's what I meant. That it's not flourishing nowadays. Sorry, should have made that clearer...
@@domidium sorry for the late reply but you’re all good, they are just not communicating like before endgame I think, hopefully they get it together
It's really significant that you pointed out the casting in this movie. It's largely down to the casting director Sarah Finn who has cast every MCU movie bar the Incredible Hulk. She has an uncanny knack of identifying the perfect actor for each role and has quietly fought her corner numerous times. As a result the whole series absolutely nails the casting almost every single time.
2008 feels like such a different time, just the Myspace reference alone made me feel incredibly old and dated as hell 😭😂😂😂
SAME
Me too. I was only ten years old then.
@@MegMage just wondering at some point can you play vampire masquerade bloodline ?
I was 44 in 2008 when this 1st movie of the 1st phase of MCU that led to current MCU's Spiderman: No Way Home (Phase 4). More movies from Phase 4 are scheduled in 2022-to-2023-time frame.
I was 27 in 2008 so....
Fun fact: the cheeseburger bit is about how RDJ once has a Burger King cheeseburger so bad it made him quit drugs and get his life together
Please stop spreading that goofy rumor. He may have been at a BK when he decided to finally throw out his stash, but he didn't overcome a 30 year addiction that could've killed him many times over because of a cheeseburger. Susan, Jimmy, and Eric Oram (among others) gave him the love, support, and purpose that motivated him to overcome.
31:51 no, the next one you watch is the Incredible Hulk. Then you watch iron man 2. Then Thor. Then captain America. Then avengers.
Shield is mentioned:
Caleb: 😁😁😁
The genuine excitement and investment you guys bring to these reactions makes me excited to re-experience the MCU all over again! ❤
It'll be a rollercoaster ride from here on out!! I'm so glad you guys decided to do this series!!
To this day, this is probably in my top 5 of the MCU. It's absolutely amazing what they've been able to do in terms of translating the comic books to live action film and TV. Glad you're about to be one of us.
Phase One:
1. Iron Man (2008)
2. The Incredible Hulk (2008)
3. Iron Man 2 (2010)

10. Guardians of the Galaxy (2014)

30. Eternals (2021)
31. Hawkeye (Disney Plus series)
32. Spider-Man: No Way Home (2021)
33. Moon Knight (2022)
This is the release order and the only correct way to watch the MCU. There’s some stuff that you need to watch before Hawkeye and Spider-Man No Way Home.
Spider-Man
Spider-Man 2
Spider-Man 3
The Amazing Spider-Man
The Amazing Spider-Man 2
Venom
Venom Let there be Carnage
(Before watching No Way Home)
And before watching Hawkeye you need to watch Daredevil S1-S2
o
Wouldn't Daredevil be useful for No Way Home as well? (Though I watched No Way Home & Hawkeye without the Venoms or Daredevils.)
@@johncampbell756 Hawkeye is before NWH and I said that before watching Hawkeye they need to watch Daredevil so.
@@reynaldolorenzo8409 Fair enough.
This is the one true order
I was in my 30s when this movie came out, and to that point in my life this was the best superhero movie I'd ever seen.
It's astounding how well Marvel handled this whole MCU thing.
That was before...
You guys are in for a crazy journey through the MCU. While I know more about DC than Marvel, I love both universes. I just wish most of DC's live action movies could be looked at on equal grounds with the MCU movies. However DC's animated universe is amazing. Flashpoint Paradox, Batman Under the Red Hood, Justice League Doom and Superman Red Son are just a few of my favorite animated movies. Hope you guys might consider watching DC stuff as well
Also your reactions are so adorable
I’ve watched a lot of these from different channels. This was definitely the best reaction I’ve seen!
Soso glad you enjoyed!
“I am Iron Man”. THE line that defined the last 10 years of geek cinema. Hope you enjoy this wild ride.
I am iron man
@@IronMan-jj2fd You are Iron Man.
@@fived9424 yes
PLEASE keep 'em coming guys. OMG your reactions are so great. You are going to be blown away by this journey and I can't wait!
4:40 Mark! Howdy! 🤠 I see that missing from your list is Leslie's series! Her character from this movie is the hostess or anchor of a popular culture news series, similar to "Entertainment Tonight" and "Access Hollywood" that keeps viewers up to date on what's happening within the "MCU"! 😎👍
I AM IROOOOOOOOOOOOON MAN
still a great film after all these years
& this is just the beginning
You're in for one hell of a ride
Well, thats how we call a good honest reaction. Loving how you are venturing these movie titles. I hope you enjoy them thoroughly
Gosh it is always so weird to go back and watch the first Iron Man lol
Was going through alot mental health wise this weekend and watching this was the first time I felt good again. Thank you for the feels Meg! 🤗
Terrance Howard is replaced by Don Cheadle as Rhody in future films. There's a few reasons, mainly involving payment. It was honestly for the best as Terrance has had a few unfavorable allegations against him in the past. He also inventied his own methematiacal equation that proved 1x1=3. It was heavily critisized and rejected by everyone.
He still would have been better to have in the sequels. I don't care about any of that crap.
@@gregdubya1993 Wrong. It would've created a toxic environment that benefited no one. Don Cheadle more than a great job in the role since.
omg wow less gooo!! this is just the start its gonna be a hell lot of crazy after this, you are gonna fall in love with marvel movies. Looking forward to more of these reaction videos, much love to y'all❤
She’s a keeper man. Keep her close. U guy are perfect
Amazing reaction! Can’t wait to watch this journey!
You guys are in for a treat. Such an amazing experience watching the mcu for the first time and completely worth it.
its worth to say that both Rhodey (Tony's friend) and Hulk (the next movie) are recasted in next appearences.
1 down, 26 to go!!!! 😎😁
Including all the show episodes? 😲
@@MegMage there's 26 movies not including shows
@@MegMage nope that’s just the current number of movies, you guys have a quite the journey ahead of you lol but it’ll be a fun one 😉
Then there are the 6 Netflix series, 2 seasons of Agent Carter, 8 seasons of Agents of SHIELD and the 6 (so far) Disney+ miniseries.
@@Starsaber222 7 seasons of agents of shield but yeah
This was great. Glad to see you are having fun with it!
PS: Oh! You're "Jaime Somers, the Bionic Woman"! 😊
Marvel is really good at making you care for all the characters
The nanosuit and the other compact suits are cool, but nothing beats the heavy mechanical feel of this first suit.
Welcome to adult humor in pg 13 movies. It's been there all a long. And I hope it never ends.
Is this the start of the MCU journey? These would be a very very long journey 😂
I know it will take a long time for you guys to get through the entire universe but I absolutely cannot wait for you to react to Moon Knight.
oh wow from dragon age to marvel movies how lovely!
2:51 Well, I guess that's the trouble with being an arms manufacturer: Many, many of them have your name on it.
9:34 "C'mon, men! This is you classic ambush scenario!"
"I agree! Unless, wait, are we the ambushers, or the ambushees?"
"Can you ambush someone who's trying to beat their way through metal plating to get to you?"
I am so here for this! Loved your playthroughs of Dragon Age and now this!
The SWAG RDJ had in this role was off the charts he was BORN to play this role him alone. Just like Ryan Renolds Deadpool and Hugh Jackman Wolferine and so on.
Every time someone pronounces GIF properly, an angel gets his wings. She failed.
This particular cool guy, is the chef of explosions. He made those. Of course he doesn't look. Heh
Tony Stark went from mark1 to mark 85 his last suit after his death in Endgame.
Wow I just found your channel! and I love it!
Great reactions!
I just found your channel. I'm looking forward to watching y'all as you watch these MCU movies.
Because of Pepper Hawke??? 🥰🥰
Great reaction 👍👍
Please do watch the post credit scenes in these movies. They set up the next movie.
This was before Disney, when Paramount had most of the MCU movie rights.
Hey. Old man and his dog here. You two are charming. Made me smile. Happy to subscribe. Slainte!
Hi Shawn and Ringo!! We’re glad you’re here ☺️
Nice reactions on MARVEL (I've watched some of them...) I'm subscribing now. Thanks from Sweden.
Just found your channel thanks to the algorithm. You guys are a lot of fun. I enjoyed this a lot. I look forward to following your movie reaction journey.
This is so chaotic 😂😂❤
You guys are cute as buttons. The first 2/3's of this movie is arguably the best parts of the mcu.
Missing the best line of all time by Pepper is bordering on criminal.
20 some movies later and this is still one of my favorite MCU movies.
They filmed the middle east scenes around my home town! It's always weird seeing it in this movie.
Now this is a thing I didnt know I needed!
WHAT IF THEY DIDN'T CAST RDJ? WELL CATCH UP TO DOCTOR STRANGE 2 AND YOU MAY FIND OUT.
Wonder if Full Length Watch-Alongs via Patreon might be a future thing....👀🤔🤫
With the post credit scenes, assume there's going to be more. Some of the movies only have one just before the scrawl, but some of them have three, and the last one's after the entire scrawl, way after everyone's left the cinema.
You may want to consider jumping into Agents of Shield after you get done with Iron Man 3, since it picks up immediately afterwards, regardless of whether or not you decide to film reactions to the show or just watch on your own. Not only is it a fun show that's one hell of a ride, the show and movies play off of each other quite a bit through the first few seasons. You can find watch lists online so you don't get lost or jump ahead or fall behind.
I never liked and subscribed as fast as this before!
Glad I get to watch other people's journeys into the MCU
lol your crush on tony is adorable
You said the next one is Iron Man 2. No Hulk?
14:13 look how quickly his laugh changes
Subscribed! MCU is the GOAT
oh and Mag is gonna love Peggy im sure
oh my godness here we are again on the mcu marathon
Just to let you know when Tony Stark flew away from that cave he would be dead from impact.
RELEASE ORDER IS THE ONLY ORDER, AND YOU MAY NEED TO GET INTO SOME OF THE DISNEYPLUS SERIES FOR THE FULL EXPERIENCE.
Caleb looks like Colin Jost. (That's a compliment.)
As to the cheeseburger being from Burger King, that was actually RDJ's idea. At the depths of his addiction, he found himself hungry one night and ended up munching on a BK cheeseburger. In his assessment, it was awful, but it was in that moment of clarity he realized he had pretty much hit rock bottom and changed his life from there. Get the parallel?
The next movie in the MCU is The Incredible Hulk...Iron Man 2 is after that. Too many reactors skip Hulk.
Very fun reaction!! Will yall also be watching the marvel tv shows along with the movies?
Yes!! Super excited for those 👀
Watch The Incredible Hulk too 🥺
Omg how am I just finding out about you two, you guys are great and so was this reaction, please make sure you react to all the MCU productions😁
YES! I’m so excited for you to experience the MCU for the first time like we all did at one point, how often do you think you’ll be uploading these reactions? I’m already so excited to see you react to the very first Avengers movie :)
Weekly at the least, but I'm trying to convince Caleb to nail down a twice a week schedule 👀
Great reaction! Now if you just watch 10 movies a day you'll be done in about 8 months 😂 I am so impressed with Marvel, there's almost not a single miscast role in the whole bunch. And it's SO much fun to see how all of the different movies and characters interact and play off of each other's stories. And there's only like a dozen more movies before you meet my favorite character of them all 🙂
You guys are great but you gotta watch the post credit scenes AND watch for Stan Lee cameos!
AHH we noticed Stan this time but I completely forgot to include it! Hugh Heffner!? Iconic 🤣💗
They watched it but didn't show it on screen
MORE FOR KIDS, NOPE, GET READY FOR AN EMOTIONAL RIDE. NOT FOR KIDS.
NGL, was a little sad this was winning the poll you put out, for reasons I don't want to get into because I was wrong! Great reaction, I loved your guys' analysis on the themes and character moments. It was great seeing your enthusiasm for this world, and I can't wait to see your journey with these characters.
Hey guys! Welcome to the Marvel Universe :D really excited to see ur reactions as well as inspired to re-watch everything too from the beginning too lol. Hope you will consider reacting to other great TV shows on your channel too such as The Expanse especially if you like Sci-Fi and Mass Effect ;) Altered Carbon on Netflix (if you like Cyberpunk 2077), Game of Thrones (if you like Dragon Age, The Witcher) and Squid Game, in the meantime.. have fun!
I DON'T KNOW HOW MANY WOMEN YOU'VE SLEPT WITH BUT DRESS SHIRTS ALWAYS HAPPEN, AT MY PLACE.
The Incredible Hulk is the next MCU movie.
29:49 - Ask Edward Norton
"Doing a piece." He and "Pepper" have an even BETTER exchange about "Christine" in "Ironman II" while in Monaco. Classic...
Great reaction. You are a very cute couple. Enjoy your Marvel journey!
If You wonder what to play next then here is the answer: MAFIA 1 and 2, you WON'T regret it!
Supposedly a genius engineer who doesnt know how much is 10% of the power output is.Its not guess work, its Engineering lol
Subbed for mass effect, stayed for, well, everything else
The serious tone in Iron Man is something that is so missed in todays marvel films/shows. Which are basicially comedies.
All of the films are not comedies man stop it
@@rashadwalker8218 Well there are way to many jokes in them nowadays, the early mcu movies were better at keeping a balance.
If you're doing reactions and get tired of the mcu, watch The Princess Bride if you've never seen it. Also I loved this. Your reactions were great.
i am so excited for this!!!!
Is there a reason you guys stopped with the MCU after Endgame?
🎶"cool guys don't look at explosions"🎶. I've never looked at an explosion myself, just saying. 😏
Congrats, you're a cool guy
And if you ever going to do some movies reaction, then you have to do some noire movies! For example Double Indemnity (one of the best classical noire movies ever) or my favorite Chinatown which is really really great!
You and your husband are so nice together, really sweet. Just had to say that lol :D
Peter Billingsley, who plays the engineer that Obadiah yells at, was the central kid in the movie, "A Christmas Story." He will reappear in a later MCU movie.
love you guys! excited for this!! i want to say that some people are very uncritical with these movies, even though the mcu has its share of white washing, jewish erasure, military propoganda, etc, and a lot of that just has to do with viewers not having read the original comics and not knowing these things, which is fine! comics are crazy complicated lol. but i think its still important to agknowledge when these big movies mess up topics that are really important....
idk you guys are super smart about what you watch and i loved your discussions about arcane so im sure youll have smart insights about these movies. idk i might delete this comment later, i dont want to be a buzzkill.
again, love u guys, finding your channel has been one of the best things ive done in 2022 so far 😅
