  • In this episode I am making a folding ladder. I needed one so I though I could make one. This ladder is heavier than a aluminium one of the same size. It’s made from a pine wood. The treads are attached with 4 screws. Enjoy!

    I felt a lot more comfortable watching after your hair was tied back. I've seen some nasty injuries with dangling hair and power tools. The ladder looks solid.

    Very good. I would like measurements. The angle of the steps is 66⁰?

    You should really have keyed the steps into the side rails. Those screws won't hold forever as they are taking the repeated strain of stepping on and off.

      Yeah better keyed in or at very least glued and screwed timer supports under each step...

    Looks a bit iffy to me.The strength of this ladder totally depends on the shear strength of the screws!

      @mechaman3287 Před 3 lety +2

      same goes to the standard aluminium ladder which depends on the strength of the rivets to hold the weight.

    Very nice! I wanted to make a 14' step ladder out of wood. I'm wondering about the safety factor... Thoughts? Thanks for the great video and info. !!!!

    Hi,
    Very nice job and final achievement.
    I really like that double ladder and I would like to make one similar for my self.
    Could you please send me the blue print of that ladder or more detailed technical explanations?
    Thank you for reading my message.
    Sincerely yours,
    Dan

    At what angle did you cut the bottom of the board?

    Nice work.
    I thought it was smart of you to use ear protection. Most other people either forget or disregard the importance of it --until later, when they're hard of hearing.
    Question:
    Could you please tell me the device (by name) that you were using to mark the stair angles along the outsides of the ladder?
    I'd like to purchase something like that.

    Ha Sebas, mooie ladder hoor. Heb je toevallig ook gekeken of het mogelijk is om één van de ladderdelen omhoog te klappen zodat je één lange ladder krijgt i.p.v. alleen een A-ladder?
    Hoor t graag als je daar al meer over hebt nagedacht!

      @SebastiaanMollema  Před 6 lety

      Hi tuur! Dankje! Dat zou wel kunnen. Wel wat extra ‘hardware’ nodig. Ietje zwaarder. Wel minder sterk als bestaande alumium met die functies. Zou die willen zien dan?

    • @MadebyArt_Ehv
      @MadebyArt_Ehv Před 6 lety

      Sebastiaan Mollema nou als het niet te veel moeite is voor je om het ontwerp aan te passen.. Het is natuurlijk altijd fijn om ook verder de hoogte in te kunnen. :)

    • @SebastiaanMollema
      @SebastiaanMollema  Před 6 lety +1

      Ah ja begrijp me niet verkeerd. Ik denk ik vraag het. Het zet me asn het denken, het mechaniek maakt het wel anders in opzet. Het is niet zozeer een kleine aanpassing. Ik denk dat dat een nieuwe video wordt.

    • @MadebyArt_Ehv
      @MadebyArt_Ehv Před 6 lety

      Sebastiaan Mollema denk het ook. Vraag me ook af wat het doet met de hoek van de sporten/treden als je dat deel 135° verder draait dan wanneer je het als A-trap hebt..

    That's dangerous. Screws are brittle and likely to fail catastrophically under sheer load.
