  • The Camaro's 1LE handling/performance package is the easiest way to make the most out of your V6, V8, or Supercharged V8 2016+ Camaro. It features, for just $6,500, Brembo Brakes, an electronic LSD, Magnetic RIde Control, dual mode exhaust, upgraded seats, short throw shifter, and subtle aerodynamic improvements. For those who value handling dynamics, the 1LE package, available on all Camaro models, is the way to go.

      D LG heel toe feels awesome when done right. it can also make you loose control of your car on track if done wrong at the limit. if you daily a manual you can get the hang of it in few days. it's one of those "seconds to learn, but years to master" things in life.

    I may be alone in this opinion, but I don't mind hard plastic dash stuff so much any more. The hard plastic they are using for dashes these days are much better than in the past. It usually has better texture and feel, but what I like most is that it's easy to clean and doesn't eventually crack or tear like soft dash covers sometimes do.

    As a 2017 SS 1LE owner, this review is spot on!!!! I also recommend you override the steering to always stay in touring mode as it has just as much feel as the other modes without feeling fake heavy.
    I waited from late 2015 for this car to get here. I ordered one the first week they were available and now it's my daily driver with 6,200 miles on it. I have driven it on a 1,000 mile road trip to and from Daytona for the Rolex 24. This car lived up to all the expectations I had of it! I have yet to feel the need to mod anything. I originally thought I would upgrade pads and tires but even the OEM Ferrodo pads and GY Supercar 3's are KILLER!!!

    • @ryanm3797
      @ryanm3797 Před 7 lety

      You said artificially heavy when the sportier modes are selected, but how does it compare to a decent hydraulic rack? Is it numb and disconnected? I like to feel the road through the tires and suspension translated up to the wheel, even if it's just changing lanes on the highway.

    • @MJK8TheSimRacingDad
      @MJK8TheSimRacingDad Před 7 lety +6

      I think it feels great! The road feel doesn't change with the modes, only the weight. However you are able to notice the road feel more in tour since you aren't having to work harder to turn the wheel.

      EPS can be done well. NSX (1) is revered as one of the finest handling/feeling cars ever made, Senna helped develop it and it was based on the feel of the McLaren.
      S2000 is also highly regarded in this department.
      Guess what most motoring 'journalists' don't know?
      They both use the same EPS system. So Honda did EPS in the late 90s/early 00s perfectly. Everyone else just didn't put in as much effort until recently... this is why I laugh when I see people mock EPS. Most don't know that the 'godfather' of them all, the NSX, is EPS.

I hate to think what the 1LE ZL1 is going to offer up, closest you get out of Germany (in the same category) is the BMW M4 GTS at a bargain price of $150k..... of which is already being beaten/matched by the GT350 at half the price. Mercedes-AMG C63 S again at double the cost, They are being trumped by the Yanks on the track, in the looks department (IMO) and by price point by a country mile. So I think we already there, just a shame the EU market has so many road blocks, expensive fuel, tax etc.

    Just so you know, Chevrolet is not "artificially adding" weight to the steering in track mode. Any lightness in the steering is due to electronic assist. Therefore in track mode, it's just closer to the real weight you are feeling. And on the track, that feedback is necessary and useful. When canyon carving, it can be annoying though. Track mode steering is for the track. And it seems like you guys don't know that, I could be wrong though (sorry if I am).

    How's the low rpm PARTIAL throttle response? The C7 I owned for 3 weeks had poor low rpm PARTIAL throttle response. The throttle was like an on and off button. Wondering if GM has improved that in this car?

    • @vernonprice5986
      @vernonprice5986 Před 7 lety

      I own a C7 Stingray Z51 7M, and I have never experienced what you're describing. Low RPM partial throttle response is fine.

    • @prazzy4712
      @prazzy4712 Před 7 lety +1

      people seem to have very different perceptions of this. When I first test drove the C7 I felt the same sluggish, laggy low rpm throttle response but I linked this to the fact that there was a 300lb salesman in the car. When I had my C7 delivered I felt the same way. FOR ME, the c7 does not offer crisp immediate throttle response at lower throttle inputs, at least compared to other cars I have driven/owned. It is not a linear progressive natural feeling throttle. My main motivation for getting a C7 was low end torque and instant response. But it didn't offer that for me.

    • @vernonprice5986
      @vernonprice5986 Před 7 lety +1

      +Lava Peter - "FOR ME, the c7 does not offer crisp immediate throttle response at lower throttle inputs, at least compared to other cars I have driven/owned. It is not a linear progressive natural feeling throttle."
      I understand that you're trying to frame this in the context of your own experiences, but my experiences are different. I have not experienced any of the lag you're talking about, and part of that is because of the direct injection which gives it much more response at lower RPM than for example the non-DI LS3 in the C6 Corvette.
      Part of it may also have to do with which mode you were in at the time, as response is softer in touring mode than it is in track mode. I'm assuming you tested that already to verify.

    • @prazzy4712
      @prazzy4712 Před 7 lety

      Vernon Price i kept the car in sport or track mode and still felt this same lag/unresponsiveness...in 2 seperate cars...and for 3 weeks with the one i owned...but we all perceive differently

      @vernonprice5986 Před 7 lety +2

      Well, I know what lag is, and I can't really apply that word to my Stingray's low RPM part throttle response. Mine is quite responsive. But just as a benchmark, what car, in your experience, does have good low RPM part throttle response?

      GM cost cutting is what that is. Rather than having two different steering wheels they just change what the paddles do on the manual cars. As it was said above, they turn the rev-match on and off in the manuals.

      rbeaton16 actually its better than that. The paddles are programable, like most of the functions of the other buttons. Just like the rotary style climate controls; A 1LT uses the right for fan control, a 2LT uses it for dual climate.
      If you have the right software you could get the paddles to do whatever you want
