  • First time flowering this plant. I love how huge and red the flowers are. Very cool. And I'm getting a second giant starfish flower. I have never been into typical garden flowers. I like the scary, creepy and gross looking stuff. Funny at most happen to smell bad too. I can put up with that for cool and creepy looking plants. Luckily nepenthes don't stink but these cactuses do.

    Love these pitcher plants. You really have some cool plants! I would never be able to pronounce the names of them. Succulents are my favorite plants. It's all I have. I do put mine outside during the spring, summer and fall until we get frost. Awesome video Des!❤🌵😎

      Aww thank you. Pitcher plants are cool but they can be hard. Some can grow indoors as house plants but you need lots of light. If they don't get lots of light in a south or east window then they'll need a special lamp. Some have very specific requirements but there are easier ones.
      These Stapelia succulents are great. I do recommend them. That's good your bring them in. Mine can handle a light frost so they stay out year round, but I think further north they need to be brought in for winter.

      These are amazing plants. You should definitely get one. They are fairly easy to find on Ebay. That's where I got mine.

      Believe it or not the local Kroger store had three of them. Such a rare find I couldn't pass it up.

    That burgundy flower is neat. I hope the starfish still has its flower when I visit you or has another one. And a second huge pitcher.

      I don't think this bud will be around when you come but there are more on the way so I hope it will be in bloom for you. I hope this one makes another flower for you too. I'm glad you like it.

    • @ScaryFear
      @ScaryFear  Před 3 lety

      I have never tried to grow these from seeds. I got mine as cuttings and that's how I always see them for sale. Good to see you're still around.

    Yeah I think that could be considered weird 😁 I had a reasonable collection of hallucinogenic plants both in pots and dried (in the long long ago) not one tropical plant, collected them all near where I live. You'd be amazed how many plants use that as a defense mechanism (not for consumption by the way 😎 I'm strange enough as it is

      I like plants that are creepy and frightening. These flowers smell to attract pollinators which are flies and beetles looking for carrion. It's not for protection.

      @@ScaryFear I know I meant the plants I've collected, the trippy ones 😁
