    The only blade I've seen that closely resembles what a viking might might have carried and used. Pattern welded mosaic steel isn't even close to true form. I like the natural look of the bone handle and simplistic approach that you created. Great craftsmanship!

  • @Gdwmartin
    @Gdwmartin Před měsícem +2

    Lovely job on the seax. I was wondering if anyone is doing seax that are not broken back seax. The broken back is, I've been told, from the late medieval period and used by the Anglo Saxons the Germans and the southern parts of Sweden. The "Viking" style seax knife had a slightly different shape.

    • @theriversexperience9383
      @theriversexperience9383  Před měsícem +2

  • @Warang_of_weles
    @Warang_of_weles Před měsícem +1

    Good job. Although not historically true. After all, sax or long sax were knives made from sword fragments. In particular, the long sax was not made by locksmithing and sawing off half of the blade, but on the contrary - by forging and stretching one edge. Because high-quality steel, such as on swords, was very expensive and rare. And that's why they couldn't afford to simply waste half of the blade.
    However, you have a good job.

    what a stylish and brutal thing it turned out to be. Fire!
    to be honest, it confuses me when Viking weapons are made of mosaic Damascus. It's like a lace armor looks.. It seems to me that either a historical twisted Damascus or something similar to yours is suitable.:)

    @theriversexperience9383 I like it, but I have to say even though the little rant at the end about just cutting a 45 and calling it a Seax is true, you also inadvertently called out every other Seax maker in this challenge 😂🤣. They’ve almost all done a straight edge with a 45, even though all the patterns are stunning.
