- Here are the warning signs of vitamin D deficiency most people ignore! Over 40% of American adults, and approximately 1 billion people worldwide are deficient in vitamin D. That’s a lot of people walking around lacking in this vital nutrient. As you may already know, lack of vitamins or a vitamin deficiency can cause serious health consequences if not addressed.
Because low vitamin D levels are affecting so many people across the globe, it’s important to learn the signs and symptoms of vitamin D deficiency. Since vitamin D has receptors throughout the body, it’s imperative that you get adequate amounts in order to stay healthy.
If you suspect that you may need more vitamin D based on this list, it’s best to talk to your doctor and get your blood levels checked. The good news is that a deficiency of vitamin D is easy to fix if your levels are lower than adequate. You can either you get more sunlight, consume more foods high in Vitamin D, or take a supplement.

I was diagnosed with depression at a young age. rarely went outside, developed agoraphobia, and stayed home almost every day barely leaving my room. once my old doctor retired I was replaced with a new one. she brought up vitamin d deficiency to me after doing lab tests for the medication I was taking. she told me to start taking vitamin d. and it’s helped me improve in a lot of areas. it really has made a difference to me.
Thanks so much for sharing this! For the past 2 years I’ve been really depressed. I rarely leave the house and I’ve developed agoraphobia. I’m glad to hear that you’re better after increasing Vitamin D. It gives me hope. I’m grateful for this video and your comment!

Hey did it help with the hairfall too? I’ve been facing major issues
@@angelesjohnson9635 you should try it!
I can definitely tell you Vitamin D is SO IMPORTANT! Vertigo, hair loss, weight gain, and especially for mental health. I was depressed and crying everyday over the silliest little things and even if I detected a tone change in my husbands voice. I was never like this before. Fast forward a couple months and I decided to book a surgery that would improve my health and weight loss. During all the steps for screening I had bloodwork so many times and it was discovered my Vitamin D levels were beyond the “low” point and I needed it pronto! Within a week of receiving the correct dosage everyday, it’s improved 10 fold and I don’t feel how I did. However, since I cannot absorb iron, B12, and Vitamin C either I’ve been diagnosed with malabsorption syndrome. I beg anyone whom has even one vitamin deficiency, to get a full mineral and vitamin blood panel done. It could save you months of depression and even save your life.
Awesome Advice
Thank you for the advice.
Someone named Laura asked how to get the full blood panel done, and you would have to ask your Family Doctor or a walk-in clinic doctor here in Ontario, Canada. It’s free under OHIP but there are a few here that we do have to pay for regarding more screening for blood disorders (which can contribute to deficiencies and isn’t limited to anemia). Hope that helps 😁
So true in my case.
Vertigo?? I have vertigo issues
At last, I controlled my dandruff and hair fall.
Step 1: Apply hair oil and let it overnight or for a minimum of an hour for it to work.
Step 2: Rinse it out with shampoo.
Step 3: Apply conditioner of your choice to the roots of your hair.
I used a mild and natural hair fall control kit by littleeextra cococonion for these steps as it's mild and natural, and is considered gud for hair fall control.
If you also have dandruff, use lemon juice on your scalp minimum once a week before shampooing and rinse it out about an hour later.
I worked 16hrs a day in a underground subway platform i hardly ever saw the sun. All of a sudden i couldn't take long walks or climb stairs without feeling like i was about to die. I came across this video and started taking vitamin d pills within a month my problems were solved.

If your doctor doesnt bring up finding a deficiency when you explain your symptoms, then find a new doctor. Unfortunately most doctors immediately start thinking what prescription pharmaceutical drug would address the symptoms rather than finding the root cause of what’s causing the symptoms in the first place
This! I've been prescribed anti-depressants in the past.. my new doctor tried to say I have borderline personality disorder due to my low extreme moods. I had to push for bloodwork and I am low in both vitamin D and iron (ferritin). I've connected with a naturopath who I feel is actually there to support my best interests. My current doctor does PPR and when I went to her about my hair loss she tried to offer me that service rather than doing bloodwork. Unfortunately accepting doctors are hard to come by here.
@@rahelabebe4 good news is we don’t need to go through a doctor to order our own blood tests :)
@@FLP90 I believe we require a doctors referral for blood work here in Ontario Canada.
Some doctors have said having patients come in routinely for appointments to renew a prescription that only treats the symptoms is their “bread and butter”. Great business model for them if you think about it. You need to research yourself, get tested for Vit D, and discuss with your doctor. If you bring up the discussion they will try to help you. If not, find another. Most doctors go into the profession to truly help people, but some are drawn in by the money.
@@tomunderwood4283 absolutely makes sense. My doctor refused to let me test for vitamin D last year despite it being a test I pay out of pocket for. She finally agreed this year and I’m low in both ferritin and vitamin D despite her saying I’m fine. We have a doctor shortage in my province so finding a new family doctor has proven difficult. In the meantime I’ve been doing my own research and working with a naturopath who actually listens.

My new naturopath has just diagnosed me with low vitamin d, and said it’s been low across all my blood tests over the last 18m, but the GP would just say “you vitamin d is a bit low but that’s normal”, I’ve been having complaining of fatigue and all these things for years, and recently had an arthritis test because my feet bones/muscles were aching so much, I’m now taking a lot of supplements and it feels like my feet are hurting less.

The one thing you're leaving out is that taking vitamin K2 with vitamin D helps your body store it better and deliver it to your bones, along with calcium. Do you feel depressed? Or low motivation ?
@@missmichelle2201 yes, unfortunately. But I’ve been going through that for some time and I noticed that my hair loss was very severe and happened again the exact same time of year..in the spring. When I started looking it up, I found out there was such a thing as “seasonal hair loss” which occurs from being indoors and not getting enough sunlight. The body says you don’t need that hair to protect your head if there’s nothing to protect it from. I had been in college classes the past couple of years and cooped up inside studying so much. Never in my life through anything had I lost this amount of hair. And never had I been so cooped up. My 16 y/o son has struggled for 2 yrs. It began w/anxiety but became so much more. What was tricky is that he’d exp life altering events & trauma that any adult would struggle w, let alone a kid. We attributed all of this to mental health but his psychologist suggested a full physical. (Mind u he’s 6 ft 3” healthy looking boy). Boy, was I shocked w/the labs. His Vit D was 4! Def not “well, but after 2 yrs, it brings me to tears to know he has even a small amount of relief. And I will forever regret not realizing sooner that there were physical causations beyond any of the mental health. Do yourself a favor & have the labs run.

My doctor seriously told me that he never test for vitamin D deficiencies because he thinks it’s a “trend“. I just found out I had vitamin d deficiency in November 2020 after having a blood test. I have read that Vitamin d deficiency is often overlooked by GP’s and a blood test is not automatically given for Vitamin d deficiency by your GP, unless you request that to be done. The blood test for Vitamin D Deficiency was taken by a locum doctor at my GP’s surgery without me known and not by any of the partners at my surgery and I’m so grateful to her that she did that blood test. I had heard of Vitamin D Deficiency, but I never knew about any of the symptoms until I had that blood test in November 2020. So for anyone in the UK who has similar symptoms, request a blood test for Vitamin D Deficiency. It could be caused by other medical issues as well. But if it is Vitamin D Deficiency it can be medically treat very easily. Although I’m still not feeling 100% fit and healthy as of yet!

Colleen Fitz what’s the difference between vitamin D3; and calcium??
@@juliekane7210 Vitamin D helps your body absorb Calcium.
Calcium is one of the Major Minerals (aka macro-minerals). Adults need 1,200mg daily. Here’s some info about calcium deficiency: draxe.com/nutrition/calcium-deficiency/
Vitamin D3 - is one of the fat-soluble vitamins, meaning your body can store excess of these in the liver and fat tissues. The other three that are fat-soluble are A, E, and K2. Vitamin D isn’t always thought of as a vitamin since we make it ourselves. Humans produce vitamin D when exposed to sunlight. A daily dose of about 20 minutes of sunlight provides all we need. Vitamin D3 is the most effective kind, the same that comes from our own skin and lichen. We should get 5,000-6,000 IUs daily. During wintertime, people get very negligible sunlight due to low daylight hours and low light strength from the sun as well as being covered up most of the time, so your statement is totally null and void I'm afraid..
Very clear voice and very informative, consice and clear explanation. Thank you for this very useful video. This feels like home schooling and so useful especially for housewives and Elders around the globe. God Bless you.

Since of quarantine I’ve been stuck doing online school and being mostly inside, I do dance but that’s inside as well. I just went to my doctor and the normal is 30% and I was at 18%! Please remember to get outside, I thought I had depression and anxiety but it was my vitamin d levels effecting my body
I just had my checked it was a 9 omg so I’m taking now
For my daughter it is 4. She too feel low and lot of mood swings
How are you now?
@@corinnameans3021 what was your symptoms
I felt tierd and tingling all over my body headache. So now I just take a supplement vitamin D with vitamin K everyday. Three months later I went from a 9 to a 39
How refreshing to hear a clear, easy to understand, no nonsense medical guide.
Before taking VitD I endured lethargy, aching bones, low mood, fear of coping in social situations, difficulty concentrating and other problems mentioned in the video, to a lesser extent.
The strangest thing was I had many bouts of what i believed was labyrinths or vertigo as it is often wrongly labelled. This is when you, wrongly, feel your body is in motion after getting to your feet.
I was never advised that a deficiency in VitD could be the cause and was never given drugs that could relieve it.
I have been taking cod liver oil capsules for about 6 months and the dizziness has never returned. This is also true for the physical symptoms mentioned above, but not the psychological ones, in my opinion, but they definitely haven't worsened.
I had never been aware of a link between VitD and labyrinths but am now convinced it treated it successfully.
VitD shall remain part of my daily supplementation with this knowledge as, regardless, I have nothing to lose and everything to gain.
I would add the only other supplements I use are Omega3 and 6.
Note. When I studied bioscience at university in the late 80's/early 90's, I asked my physiology and food science lecturers about possible unproven nutrients.
Both of them mentioned Omega3 and Omega6 compounds, which I had encountered in membrane structures, but I never forgot that they both said, if they were to bet on the next big thing, it would be a fat soluble compound and the liver might be a valuable source of it/them.
It might be proven they were wide of the mark, but I would be inclined to listen to them as opposed all this pseudo science we see in the media and online.
How much vitd dou you take dayly... Thanks
@@belfedhaltayeb8958
I take 10 micrograms daily in the form of cod liver oil, which is 200% of RDA. I also take 5 micrograms as part of a multivitamin supplement and whatever I get from my diet on top of that.
Hope that helps.
Edit. Ensure it is vitamin D3 you are getting. D2 plays some part in metabolism but D3 plays the largest role.
About a year ago I lost all my energy.
I literally was too weak to walk . Turned out my vitamin D levels were very low. Doctor put me on a high dose of D2. when my levels went back to normal I started taking D3. Made all the difference in the world in the way I feel.
hi Shirley, what vitamins did you take
Healthy education! Thanks❣
Had a vitamin D blood test done 8 months ago ...doctor rang me to come in to see her ..my vitamin D was dangerously low and the cause of my pain in my joints/muscles and the brain fog, severe tiredness was significant symptoms and had to take tablets pronto! Take zinc with vitamin D as it is needed for vitamin D to absorb better. I’m 64, and have been taking vitamins C, D, multivitamins, Magnesium, Nac, zinc, omega oil on a daily basis. Never felt better in my life. I’ve been taking vitamin C since I was a child.
I've also been taking most of the vitamins as you. Although I recently found out about over dosing on magnesium. I guess it's 500 m a day is needed, the problem is the bottles of magnesium have 500 m. So we now take one every other day, just letting you know because I didn't. It's really helped with my blood pressure
vitamin K2 m4 or m7 is the actual one you need.
@@RudyG210 The actual one of what exactly. Thank you for your comment.
You maybe 64 but your not wise as I'm 24 you should have suggested us to go to sunlight daily morning and evening for better health instead suggesting for tablets.
There's no alternatives for sunglight vitamin d and many benefits it comes with 👍🏻
Son darang, we go for 1 hour walk each day with the dogs, but not all people live in sun filled areas. I live in Europe now, and there’s not much sun like in Asian countries. Even then you have to be outside all day, and still won’t get your needed vitamin D. The darker skin peopke will get even less as we have a natural sun block. Yes, I should have said I exercise each day, plus eat minimal amount of sweets.
Now the part about who’s wise, I’ll leave that to the GOOD LORD. 😏
An academic lecture in just ten minutes. Good work. 👍
I have every symptom! When I told my doctor that I thought I had low vitamin D she kinda blew me off, but did a blood test anyhow. You should have seen how surprised she was to find I was right! I'm on supplements now and try to get some sunshine, too. I'm prone to basal cell carcinoma, so I have to be careful not to be exposed to the sun's harmful rays too much. I hope my symptoms will go away soon. I'm so tired of feeling bad.
As you were describing it I was checking off the boxes. I was just diagnosed with Vitamin D deficiency.Thank you for the information you provided. It's greatly appreciated.💖
I suffered with fibromyalgia and thought I was having this strange feeling that my bones ached. My vitamin D levels were nearly nonexistent; my bones were aching.
Did you have acne? They say people with low vitamin D are most likely to have acne.

Like many here I have almost all the symptoms and have been telling ALL my doctors for years how lousy I feel. My main complaints were unexplained muscle pain, bone pain, and extreme fatigue. Top three symptoms mentioned here. After seeing this video and self diagnosing my cardiologist ordered blood test and sure enough very low Vitamin D levels. Thanks for this wonderful video!!
Follow up: After being diagnosed with low vitamin D I immediately started taking 2000 mg daily of Vitamin D3 and made a conscious effort to get more sun. It didn’t happen overnight (actually close to 3 months) but I now can take walks pain free and without restrictions. I may not feel like I did when I was 30 but great compared to where I was at. I used to dread walking from the parking lot to the grocery store. Now I take long pain free walks every day. I had blood work done just last week and my vitamin D levels have doubled to put me within the normal range. Please pay attention to your body and this video and perhaps it could have the same positive impact on you!!

Great information ...🌞
Recent bloodwork showed that my vitamin D level was all but nonexistent. I was prescribed 2000 units a day (2 gel pills) but was still completely exhausted all of the time- felt as though gravity had increased so much that I just couldn’t fight it. I had a virtual appt the other day and the specialist prescribed me a once a week mega dose of 50,000 units of D. Took my first megadose yesterday and this morning I woke up feeling like a brand new person.
I'm working on getting my D up through supplements and sun. There is a video( very poor quality, podcast have better sound quality fyi) of Dr.s Mercola and Sorenson where they even advocate using tanning beds. It's interesting to watch. They talk about Vit D and the sun's protective factors against cancer. It is mind blowing and goes against every Dermatologist recommendations I've ever heard.
I’m in the same boat! Had some of the lowest vitamin D levels my Dr has ever seen. I was prescribed 50,000 units and took my first dose yesterday. Here I am at 6am awake and thinking about going on a hike! I know it will take time to build up in my system but the fact that I’m feeling so much better this soon is amazing, I felt completely hopeless, exhausted, depressed, and achy for the past 6 months.
@@franklinthompson7336 it’s crazy I know! Once the 4 week period of the mega dose was over I was put back on a daily small dose of 50mcg. And that brief period of energy was gone. Just had bloodwork a week ago and my D is really low again. Thanks for commenting on this, cause it reminded me of how much better I felt with the mega dose. I need to follow up on that. My D level last week was 13.1.

Hey guys, and thank you for making this video, I too have experience a lot of these symptoms, one thing I experienced was forgetfulness, I couldn’t remember people names that I went to grammar school with, next I was experiencing hair loss all my edges had fallen out, I was always tired, I could plan a date with friends, and change my mind and wouldn’t have the strength to go, my victim D level was a 11 in may, in December it went up to a 21, not from taking the vitamin D pills but from eating nothing but fruits and vegetables, but now I’m taking vitamin D I can’t wait to go to the doctor and receive the good news that my levels are normal ❤🙏🏽 praise GOD

Thankyou so much for this
Thank you for saying “Bone Health”: strong/brittle are often misused and misunderstood.
Sleeping during the day is also linked to low vit d levels. I had most of the symptoms mentioned pretty severely but I was also sleeping all throughout the day and was only awake for 2-3 hrs in the late evening (10pm -12am). Had a blood test and my vit d levels were really low. The year before I had a pretty significant folate deficiency. GP now prescribed vit d for life. Calcium deficiency can be appalling too...had that a few yrs before.
Damn I think I’m going through that right now.
That's because you were to be out in the sun and not indoors the whole day.
