Remarkable interview - surpised to see so little interest for this.
The director says that he presents images and footage with no commentary, because he wants to give the viewer the opportunity to witness objective reality.
Why this approach? Because coming from a Soviet background, he says, 95% or 99% was propaganda, telling people what is right and wrong.
He likes to stimulate the ability to think critically for themselves, in people.
Now - German audience, he said, seeing Ukrainians sing their anthem in the crowd, reacted on this with: "We are not ready for this."
He says: "They think about their own German history, when seeing this."
Interesting remark - so true. Any image or footage will stimulate many things in us, very different from person to person, or even from nation to nation.
Thank you, for the gift of this film - giving us an opportunity to take part in so many moments of this fundamental European revolution.
Knowing about the long slavery of Ukraine from Moscow rule - the unbelievable condescension and the deadly policies of collectivization and anti-ukrainian measures of the bolcheviks, which led to a decade long deadly silence in Ukraine, knowing about the revival of Ukraine, its happiness to be free and become more and more solid in this freedom, developing towards a free nation in a European continent of equal national partners, coopeerating in peace, knowing about the terrible sickness of Russia, who is under the spell of imperial desires and suffering from many delusions, most of all the delusion of believing in violence to master people inside and outside of their country - this film is a wonderful opportunity to just get a glimpse of this revolution of dignity.
And in 100 years and more this fight for dignity and freedom will keep inspiring us.
Glory to Ukraine and all people who brought their life to this fight - in order to make possible that the children will live free.
