    Don`t forget Spain has being robbed many times. For example, WC 1934 versus Italy; WC 2002 versus Corea. The final versus France in 1984 was also robbery, with a non existent foul for Platini`s free kick. Spain was better than that great French team. You can watch the game on You Tube.

      En Chile 1962, en la fase de grupos contra Brasil, iba ganando 1-0, el árbitro pita falta fuera del área cuando era un claro penalty a favor. Después del saque de la falta hay gol de chilena de Adelardo que incomprensiblemente anula el árbitro. Sería el 2-0 y Brasil ( de Pelé, Garrincha, Didí...) habría quedado eliminada. En los últimos minutos Brasil remontó y el partido quedó 1-2 y España eliminada
      Como consencuencia, las autoridades españolas erróneamente prohibieron los extranjeros en la Liga lo que a partir de 1966 llevó al peor momento del fútbol español: ausente en México 70 y Alemania 74 y los clubs lejos de los trofeos europeos.

    Very good consice analysis of Spanish football history. A good place to start if you are young and want to find out more about it. I remember "La furia" days and they were horrible, very basic. I watched Spain play live twice in the 1978 world cup! From the mid 80's onwards they started to pick up. They had some very good players and teams but not enough to win anything. Then the tiki-taka era was sublime. Now this shift in identity feels like a new dawn, an inteligente move. I think the difference is that now they have belief, and legendary performances like that one against Germany in this euros, will instil more belief into the future generations. A truly remarcable footbal history. But Argentina is better though.🙂

    • @XanderVJ
      @XanderVJ Před 19 dny +1

      "I think the difference is that now they have belief"
      Yeap, you nailed it. As a Spaniard I can tell you that mental block was HUGE. At the beginning of every major competition people, and most likely players too, went with enthusiasm, but there were always this little nagging thought in the back of out minds that said "we're gonna be eliminated in quarter finals again, aren't we?". And that held true for decades.
      However, then Tiki-Taka happened. And that generation gave us something that is even bigger than 3 major world competitions in a row: they gave us hope. Hope that we could do it. And despite the fact that we got a few rough years after the Golden Generation passed their prime, this new young team is reaffirming that hope. That what happened 15 years ago wasn't just a lucky generation. It can happen again. And there's nothing more precious than that.

      Not only Xavi. It was the whole posession concept. I remember when Morocco beat us in the World Cup. Spain had a 77% of the possession with a 91% of successful passes of more than a thousand and... one shot to goal in 120 minutes. It was boring and ridiculous. I mean, having the control of the ball does not make any sense if you do not do anything with it. That's what Spain is trying to change: finding a balance between controlling the ball and attacking. Also having a plan B and variations on the initial formula.

    Spain still plays like barcelona now let's say they're using xavi tactics against teams with 0 chemistry.

      Soy Catalán y Culé, pero lo que dices es simplemente absurdo, menguar el trabajo de Luis Aragonés y compañía en su día y ahora el de Luis de La fuente es que es de ser un Fanático ciego. El mismo Xavi dijo varias veces que su entrenador más influyente y al que más le debe es Don Luis Aragonés.
