FWD and bought it coming from an AWD car that was making nearly double the power. Way more fun. AWD would be heavier, less efficient / less power to the wheels and worse MPGs, more expensive, and simply wouldn't have the same amount of hooligan-inspired driving dynamics. Perfect the way it is!
Yes, you nailed it! Completely agree, I LOVE my KN. 🥹
Exactly. If people want AWD so bad there are other options
Bought a 2022 Kona N for my wife, I am grinning ear to ear every time I get the chance to drive it. It is such a FUN car. Re: your question, I would prefer an AWD version personally.
The people that mention the lack of AWD being an issue are the people that may not be familiar with performance driving...as in track experience. Unless you plan on turning back the clock and racing in the BTCC series then AWD is unnecessary. If you want AWD because of where you live and are worried about winter months, then this isn't the car for you...simple as that. This car is for drivers looking for a bit more of a visceral experience. If you're a true driving enthusiast, and can honestly appreciate all of the available sports cars available today, then you know this is basically in the discussion of great driving machines like the Miata and GTi. Every media outlet from around the world agrees. No need to make it something it is not. Enjoy it for what it is.... the best bang for the buck driving experience available today.
I get the sentiment brother and I purchased the car but I would have at least like the option to pay extra for it. XD
@@carloscervantes836 Because there isn't an option for AWD on the N you're feeling Hyundai slighted their customers? I'm sincerely curious....what would AWD in the N achieve that would satisfy you? Buy the N-Line AWD if you need it. If you want the power and AWD then buy a Golf R or Mini Countryman All-4 JCW. Problem solved.
@@flyin18t AWD for snow of course.
I have a 2022 Kona premium, I am going to look at a Kona N tomorrow. I am 72 years old and I think this car gets me close to my best car ever, A 1965 Mini Cooper S - and that car was in a class of it's own way back then. Everyone: move over!
I own the car and it handles impressively well. It’s definitely a sleeper.
It's slept on HARD.
Wireless changing inside a cavity with no dedicated A/C duc is such a head scratcher. On my 08 IS250 with dual zone, I dedicated a passages side vent to cool my phone and I noticed battery health stayed strong much longer.
you have done the Launch Control right brother :)
Will that color be offered for 2023?
One of my favorite Hyundai’s is the Kona N 😁
I would totally buy this if it was in AWD because I travel within and between Wyoming and Florida. My work takes me on all kinds of back roads, far flung ranches in all manner of weather. I have spent 2 years investigating the Kona for its small size and bang for the buck and really want the N but I need the AWD, especially in Wyoming winters and Florida heavy rains. I'm driving a manual transmission Hyundai Sonata Limited 207k miles and I LOVE my car. Zero, Zero issues, mechanics have offered me $$ for the car because of the manual trans. But I can't part with it until I find an excellent AWD replacement because at 62 yrs old I plan on keeping this car for at least another 10 years. I want the N for the performance since I still love a stiff, sporty driving car. But I gotta have the AWD.
😁😁 I love it!!!
Active (own electric motors in the rear axles, which only assist in strong accelerations... Haldex) AWD system. 🤔
The vehicle is already 3,340lbs. Adding awd would almost 300lbs. It would hurt performance
Nice driving man 😅
Been lovin' my KN since I picked it up! I think Hyundai did a great job on these N's and glad I could pick one up before the EV Ns takeover. Thanks for making this video!
AWD version please and some higher end interior materials.
It’ll cost at least 43,000 usd if that’s the case
Why is it when I search Hyundai Kona N Line on their website to build a 2023 model it doesn't have the buttons on the steering wheel that are shown in a lot of these videos. Also one video said over 260 horsepower and all I see on Hyundai website is a 190 horsepower motor with no other options
The N Line is just a appearance package on the standard Kona. Make sure you are building the actual Kona N
+1 for AWD, I had to purchase the 2022 Kona SEL for that reason and I am not as happy as I should be because it's not sporty enough....
Why wouldn’t you buy the Mazda cx30 turbo instead? Really strange you had to buy a Kona 😂
Certainly, buy one tomorrow if had AWD option
Agree
I like it when you wear shorts ... 🤣
If it becomes AWD I’ll buy it that’s the only reason I haven’t bc the Konan n is like a wrx but I like it way more but it’s not AWD so I can’t do it
Debating whether to wait for the 2024 EN or get the 2023 Kona N. Kona has more room and fits my lifestyle more than the EN. 🤔
Get the Kona N if you dont track the car much. It's more fun. Also, Hyundai is doing amazing things, but they still haven't been able to shake the depreciation value because of their former rep - so buy used N's vs. new. Best bang for your buck.
I wish it was awd tho
No adaptive cruise 🤨
Thank goodness.
Awd would ruin it, it would add too much weight, complexity, and most importantly price. It'll keep up with the awd just fine. He'll the type r beats it's awd competitors around tracks so I'd be happy just keeping up with them for 30k less
This is a 2022, Hyundai has no N series vehicles in 2023, only N Line. Kona comes with a 1.6 L. with 195 torques and horsepower
I just bought the Kona N and the paper says 2023 Kona N
@@tylergarcia7002 wow, well we don't have it in Canada, so you got the 2.0 with the 276 HP
@@drivingnbandbeyond We don't have it in the US either unless they're selling it and not advertising it. It's not listed anywhere on their site.
@@musedrainfall it’s not listed on the site and I’m assuming because it’s the same car, but I guarantee that I have a 2023 Kona N. I have papers and even contacted Hyundai to make sure it wasn’t a scam. I got from a verified Hyundai dealership as well.
@@drivingnbandbeyond yeah it’s the same exact car which is why I assume there are no videos or info online about it, I thought it was strange too that there was no information.
Does Kona N need..
I’m a stop you right there: YES
AWD is just one of the many missing features that would improve this car. In the US, let’s first start with no ability to purchase all the missing features our EU friends get.
I agree. Traction was a problem when I test drove
A manual

Kona N is only made for 2 years..2022 and 2023..the new Kona N will be electric because of emission standards..🫏😪
