The more interactions I see between these two the more I desperately want more romcoms that cast lead actors who are longtime friends and collaborators. It's clear the chemistry just hits differently when the people involved have been working together for decades, and I can't imagine OFMD working nearly as well if Stede and Ed didn't have that "in-character we just met for the first time ever, yet we fit together and interact like we've been in each others' lives for longer" vibe

This is probably the most I've ever seen Taika laugh on video, he's most of the time the one making people laugh so it's nice to see him laugh
I get a feeling that Taika is not always a happy person. Seeing him so happy here is a joy! Rhys seems to be a steadying figure in his life and it's wonderful.

I’d like to think it’s the combination of how long they’ve known each other + being comedians. They clearly seem to understand each other/the other’s humor in a way I don’t think I’ve seen in Taika’s other works.
I think he's just so genuinely fond of Rhys, and he just relaxes around him. Plus their sense of humour lines up completely, so it's easy with them :)
@TessAvelland he's one of those people who doesn't seem entirely comfortable with all the attention in the room on him when he's just being him, and not playing a role. And writing and directing is a behind-the-scenes thing. With Rhys he seems much more at ease.

I just finished shooting a project with Rhys Darby (I was on the crew) and he is JUST as awesome as you think he would be. SO funny, humble, and hardworking. Kind to EVERY crew member. My favourite person I've ever worked with.
