Our spirit is saved now (new birth, when we accept Jesus' finished work), our soul is being saved (renewing our mind, working out our salvation), and our body shall be shall be saved (the resurrection, putting on immortality). We overcome by the blood of the lamb (God's grace) and word of our testimony (renewing our mind to God's word and speaking it out). Keeping my body under is hearing and obeying God, not self-effort! Jesus overcame for us, the kindness of the Lord leads us to repentance. God already extends His favour towards us, we cannot earn His favour. We love Him because He first loved us. We obey His commandments out of love for Him because He loves us without condition. We were sinners until we became born again. Now we have the power by the Holy Spirit to live a holy life, we are no longer sinners and God sees us as righteous because of the finished work of Jesus. "The only work God requires us to do is believe on the one He sent", says John 6:29 that is not a fight, as in our ability, that is a rest in His ability.
What about loving others, showing humility and speaking by the spirit, are these considers works of the law that we do mistakenly try and do through effort? Are we supposed to put in effort to love others or just have the faith and let it spring forth effortlessly?
