Just a quick note to say thanks. I appreciate your videos. These are jobs all of us 928 owners will need to deal with at one point or another. Great service for the community!

Hopefully it helps someone. To be fair I'm going off information mainly from rennlist.

Two things. cables should be greased but the track should be dry and grease free. If you decide to clean the tubes then make sure the seats are covered or out of the way. crap will drip from the ends of the tubes. It's probably just the switch that slows down but I had the clean the brushes in my motor too. Please edit out the coughs.

I did spray a bit of wd40 through the cable tubes before. Also ran the cable through a couple times when it was cleanand it wasn't getting crud on it, so didn't seem like it was full of crud. I didn't put much grease on the cable, but I did put a bit of grease on the very tip of it before installing. I also took the motor apart and lightly sanded the brushes and the commutator to remove crud. Since it turns perfectly well with 12v applied to it directly, it seemed to me like the motor was good.

You can buy new shoes for it, but I was impatient and 3d printed them so I could fix them that day.

It was 3d printed. I think you can buy replacements from Roger at 928srus or other 928 parts places.

Great Video! Were you shocked how heavy that sunroof was? For a car that was supposed to be built of lighter materials...and have aluminum lug nut....I was shocked at the weight of the sunroof panel and rear hatch. LOL

I’m not sure if you will see this but I have pretty much followed this whole tutorial. Now I have put in two relays and wired everything correctly but when I use the switch the sunroof motor doesn’t work. Would you be able to explain how you wired up the relays?

The 30 pins on the relay normally used for power go to the motor wires. Normally closed goes to ground and when the coil is energized the relay switches that side of the motor to 12v. Only one relay gets turned on at a time.
