    Billy Powel was their roadie. They had no idea he played piano until one day he told Ronnie "If I was to play Freebird, this is how I would do it. They were blown away. Ronnie IMMEDIATELY fired Billy as roadie and said "you play piano like that and never told us?" Billy said "This is a guitar band man". Ronnie said "Not any more". The rest as they say is history.

      Yes, Billy was a classically trained pianist. He could play everything from Beethoven to Zeppelin. Magnificent talent. RIP Billy

    Right out of the gate, Ronnie is speaking against social injustices and concern about the state of our environment. He’s alluding to the politicians that until they make things right, he hopes they never sleep at night. It hurts me that because of their use of the rebel flag (in the early days), that they are perceived as racists. These lyrics reveal their hearts.

      Research the the truth of the flag. Beyond the mainstream lies. Lines right up to their message. That flag represents more freedom than the American flag.
      Just about everything you ever thought, was a lie. Seek truth. It will make you free.

      He was way ahead of his time, all they ever gave us was great advice. I hope people still take the time to listen to their messages.

      @@everykneeshallbow Can you elaborate more on how the confederate flag represents more freedom than the American flag? Can you also tell me why the confederate flag was brought back out after Robert E Lee and Jefferson Davis both said to the citizens of the confederacy never display it again after the defeat of the south in the civil war?

    If you like this give 'I Know a Little' and 'You Got That Right' a spin. Of course, there are at minimum 25 other Skynyrd tunes that will have your head bobbing and feet tapping. A band that just about everything they did was great.

    PG, have you considered reacting to the live Skynyrd album One More For the Road? If I'm not mistaken that was the last album they released before their plane crash. I think you are a southerner but didn't know it til you reacted to Allmans and Skynyrd. Love the reactions

    • @stevea3271
      @stevea3271 Před 4 lety

      Close- they released Street Survivors a couple days before the crash. One More From the Road was before that one.
      I agree, though, a whole-album reaction to OMFTR would be awesome. My favorite on there (besides the "big ones") has to be T-For-Texas. The way the guitars "talk" back and forth is just a joy to listen to.

    • @matthewdrake4385
      @matthewdrake4385 Před 4 lety

      Think he’s done that song before. But having him react to Skynyrd that close to the crash, let alone live recording, would be emotional.

Someone told me that Irish men can start growing a beard just as soon as their balls drop. I'm not sure what that means but I was growing a beard before my voice completely changed lol
