    Get a jug with a handle like a juice container or laundry detergent jug and tie off to the handle. That way you don't have a compromised cap with a hole in it. Cheers, #SeattleRingHunter

    One problem I had was losing sight of my float when wave action increased, solved by having some weight in float to make it stand up.

    I use the large bottle and put an eye bolt with washers and nuts through it to tie my rope to. I prefer to use Paracord with a taught line hitch so you can adjust the depth easily. Thanks for the videos. Keep up the good work.

    Fill the bottle with expanding foam then you don't have to worry about water ingress and the yellow foam should be more than visible.

    I use the big bottles like you have when I go out fishing for catfish. I use a ziptie like you use to hold your hook on your rods, one with an eye on it. I time my line to the eye. For the jug I leave it clear and put a glow sticks in it, since it is mainly used for night fishing.

    Hi Steve,
    If using mono, just put a small(lure-making small) hook-eye into the cap. Attach your mono line with a snap. Easy-peezy.

  • @kantill
    @kantill Před 4 lety +1

    Why wouldn't you add a snap swivel on the one you use mono on? That way you can change it easily and it would also help from getting twisted up.

  • @adventureswithfrodo2721

    Get one of the heavy duty punching ballons and then you can carry it deflated until needed, bots of bright colors. Or use Mylar ballons.
    Use dacron cord for the line.

      @Kayak Hacks Fishing Hi, I was inspired by your ideas, and I'm working on 4 markers to use while practicing at the local pond. Rather than painting the inside of the plastic trail mix containers I picked out (I like them because they are square and have a larger cap, so you can reach your hand inside if necessary. Also, they will not bob around) am just going to put colored aluminum foil inside. I'm referring to the kind they use to decorate potted plants. It comes in many bright colors. Perhaps I'll use red and green for obvious reasons. The thought behind foil is that it could be replaced. The paint will eventually fade or crack and fall off. Also, it would be fun to add a small battery-operated LED light for night sailing/motor cruising/parade of lights fun. Foil is one option. Left over wrapping paper or a discarded t-shirt would work. Use your imagination. That's what this original video has inspired us to do! Thank you!

    With a soda bottle like the on you have you have a natural plastic ring below the cap just slip the mono under the ring and tie it off as you would with a fish hook. No need for CA glue or passing the fishing line under the cap threads or teflon tape. Remember the soda bottle was designed to hold more pressure than it will ever experience floating at the surface of the lake. Cheers, #SeattleRingHunter

    I have never used a float for marking a spot on the water, but my first thought was how to keep the bottle in place if say the water you are in is 30 ft. and the line you attached is 15 or 20 ft. Or, how about 30 ft of line in 5 ft of water. The bottle would drift some 20m ft or so from where you dropped it making the whole setup useless. My only idea for that would be to make several markers with various lengths of line for the depth of water you are in. Thoughts/comments?

    • @KayakhacksFishing
      @KayakhacksFishing  Před 3 lety +1

      I would not use a marker in moving water unless it were really shallow. Most folks use these on lakes. As you point out, if the marker drifts - pushed by the current or wind - then it's not worth dropping.

    • @Subsessor

      anchor buoys are usuallay equippped with a very small pully (for light aplications you dont need actually need one though) and a counter weight to pull the line straight. the caveat is, that your line has to be between 1x and 2x the water depth.
      so to mark your spot you need to roughly estimate the depth and you need to have two weights. obviously the heavier the counter weight, the less your buoy is affected by drift. but if its too heavy, it will start to loosen your main anchor weight.

    Why not use a bottle with a handle and tie the rope around the handle. Tide has orange bottles you won't need to paint.

  • @oceandeepfishing4555
    @oceandeepfishing4555 Před 3 lety

    Only problem i see here is you have to tie an exact length rope for the depth you fishing. Also if you wrap the cord around the bottle and you have 50ft of line but the water is only 10 ft. Your buoy will unravel and float off the spot and will not be where the structure is you marked
