Today I will show how to create your own bar chart race video for free and without coding using Alien Art Charts. Together will create a racing bar chart video of the top browsers over time. We will gather the data, customize the chart and get a video ready to be uploaded to CZcams.
To get started, navigate to alienart.io and sign in via your favorite option. You can create a new project via the button in the top right corner. Now, let’s name the project, select “Bar Chart Race” as the type, choose “Landscape” orientation and finally click on the “Create” button.
We have a working chart, but we need to find the data to fill it. Let’s open gs.statcounter.com in a separate tab. This website shows the data we need but only for the last year. Let’s click on “Edit Chart Data”, change the “From” value to “Jan 2009” and click on “View Chart”. Now we can click on the “Download Data” button, the output will be a file in CSV format.
Now let’s get back to the chart we created. Clicking on the “Data” tab from the left will allow editing of the spreadsheet attached to the project. We can use the “Import” button to utilize the CSV file we just downloaded.
Let’s go back to the preview tab and see the result. It seems like the bars are moving too fast. Changing the duration of the entire video will make them slower. To do that we can go to the “Layers” tab and click on the “Duration” toggle. This will allow inputting the length of the video. Let’s click on “Save” and preview again.
As the next step, we can add browser icons. For that we can google the name of the first browser and then switch to the “Images” tab, find the image you like, then right-click on it and find an option to “Copy Image Address”. Now, let’s go back to Alien Art Charts and switch the tab to “Data”. Under every browser name, there is a “Choose” button which will open a panel on the right side, you can paste the image URL there and “Save” it.
To customize the video we can use the “Layers” tab and, for example, select the “Background” layer. From the options of this layer, you can change the background color or set an image as the background.
Finally, let’s go back to the “Preview” tab and click on the “Download” button in the right bottom corner of the screen. It will take a couple of minutes to create a video and it will be downloaded automatically.

Do you mean on the left side? If yes, you can go to the "Layers" tab and select the "Bar Chart Race" layer, in the properties of the layer enable "Secondary Image" after that you will have the "Image 2" field in the spreadsheet which will be placed on the left.
There is a way to change the background for something else? Like a picture ou another video?
You can upload an image from Layers - Background, videos are not supported yet

on the website you showed is only data for the browsers, where can i find other data ? like most used social media apps, most played games, most followers etc ?
You can try searching for data in a search engine, data research is generally one of the most time consuming parts in this process

You can take a look also on the statistics section on the website, there are multiple other website with data for example www.statista.com/ If you know the you can basically try using a search engine to find a dataset

Unfortunately, that feature is in implemented yet, but it's one of the upcoming items in our backlog, so it will be added in upcoming versions

If you scroll down on the homepage of statcounter there are buttons linking to other datasets like Search Market Share, OS Market Share, etc. Even so there are only 9 datasets on statcounter

I want to break a tie but it only does it alphabetically, is there any way to do it manually? I'm trying to do sports standings but it only allows me to enter a single value.
I figured it out. I just added decimals and made it so it doesn't show decimals. I wanted to do it for NHL team points so I just did 2.1 for one team and 2.0 for the other, and it only shows 2 for both.

Hey, there 2 limitations, the image size should be less than MB also the image format should be png, jpeg, or gif. Please check if your image matches those criteria. Feel free to reach out to me via internal chat on the website.

Hello, unfortunately, we don't have the option to make the bar chart vertical. I will create a feature request for the development team

For example, if a box above put 4, and a box below that says 6, it would automatically change the box in the middle of the 2 boxes as 5.

Sure you can, you might only have copyright clime if you upload exact copy of a video from another channel or use background sound with a copyright

1. CZcams will not monetize videos if it's a copy of another video (this might happen with bar chart videos that are using the same data)
2. CZcams will not monetize videos if it thinks that it's using a well-known template or if the video is automatically-generated
You need to try making videos to see if it works for you.
Note that there are also other formats that you can try: Comparison, Slideshow and soon we will also have Chat History

It really depends on the content, I've reached out to multiple bar chart race channels and most of them were monetized. Even so, there are some videos on youtube of the creators that got rejected.

I want to make the sub count of a CZcamsr called IShowSpeed, I went to socialblade and copied the link and pasted in the way back machine but it's only showing me 2022 archives I cannot find the 2019 archives, do you know any solution? Hi, can you do this with data expressed in minutes and seconds ? I try to make a video with the 10 best times of a race (the best is like 30 minutes and the worst 1h15), all the days from 2006 to now. I tried a while ago with another site but it seemed impossible to use data in another format than integers. In this case I have date expressed on mm:ss format in excel and it considers the ":" like a division.
And if possible, reverse the axis so the biggest bar correspond to the lowest time on top of the chart, from 1h15 on the left to 30 minutes on the right.

Hey, we have added a couple of features for you (All of them in the "Layers" -> "Bar Chart Race" layer settings):
1. To reverse the order you can change the "Order" value to "Low to High"
2. To have values like 1h 15m in the chart you can change the "Value" -> "Value Type" to "Duration", note that it changes the value only in the chart and still uses simple numbers in milliseconds in the spreadsheet, so 1h 15m should be 4500000 (in ms) in the spreadsheet (not ideal but this was the fastest solution at this point)

1. Is it possible to custom the bars with different colors ? Adjust the width of the bars ?
2. I have the date in a format like "2021-12-31" in my excel file but it looks like it's not understand, I have some numbers in place of the date like 41275 instead of 2013-01-01. Is it possible to show the date in a 2021-12-31 format ? (or 31/12/2021, which should be the best for me).
3. About the duration mode, can you update to have a visualisation like 1h 11m 14s ? I have 71m 14s instead, which is not very disturbing but not perfect. (Also the number of hours should appear only if not null, and remains xx min xx sec for values under 1h)
4. The horizontal axis is configurate with the maximum value, in my case 71m 14s, so it goes from 0 on the left to 71 min on the right, but in the totality of the animation, even if the 71 min disappear. At the end I have only values between 33 minutes and 38 minutes, but the x axis still goes to 71 minutes, and the bars looks the same. Is it possible for this to follow the maximum value of the chart from the beginning to the end ?

1. Yes, it's possible to add color to every bar, you can go to the "Layers" -> "Bar Chart Race" layer and enable "Bar Colors", this will add the "Colors" row to the spreadsheet.

You can do a long tap on the image, and it should show a popup, in the Mobile Chome the first option is called "Open Image in new tab", when you tap on it you can copy the URL of the image from the address bar

There is a statistics section on the website that provides data about CZcamsrs and CryptoCurrencies, for the other data the best way is Google it, data research is quite a time-consuming task

@@noevlys you can search for the CZcamsrs who are playing the specific game and then check for their analytics separately. You can check both on Alien Art Charts (we have only the top 200 channels at this point) and on Socialblade. For Socialblade we have a tutorial on how to copy the data.

You can use Export Video button located under the video preview to generate a video, once it's ready you will see a Download button in the same section. After downloading a video you can upload it to the CZcams
