- Hi guys, this is a short film that I made for my A2 media coursework. I'm awful at storyboarding so it took me the best part of 2 months to come up with this Edgar Wright/ Wes Anderson inspired storyline. Therefore, yet again I ended up filming and editing the whole project a week before the deadline! Anyway, I hope you guys enjoy it!
That is AMAZING, love the fast cuts and brilliant depth of field.
Thank you dude!
bro stole his dead nans flowers, did not expect that ☠
I'm watching all these and realising how shit mine is. Surprised they allowed you to send it to the exam board with swearing in it! :')
can’t emphasise how incredibly well put together this is… the videography, the plot line, the punch lines… every single take blends together oh so well, brilliant
this almost made me regret not opting for as and a levels ahh
Awh thank you! Honestly though, don't even worry about not choosing it as an a level... I learnt no production skills at all from college media studies, the skills came from my own learning through youtube. If you're interested in making a career out of it college won't change that :)
An actual good short film, very Edgar right.
Thank you! It was intended to be Edgar Wright & Wes Anderson inspired :)
@@LouisJonesFilm i love wes anderson, have you seen Grand Budapest Hotel?
when you said shit i laughed so hard lmao this is really good
I've filmed all of mine, but haven't started editing... lord I hope mine turns out well.
This was amazing!
Love it! also love the fact he needs glasses and doesn't wear them when he's driving ahaha
Thank you! I honestly never even thought about that! Well spotted haha
This gives me such Scott Pilgrim vibes haha!! I love this! Just doing my research for A Level Media :) wondering if I’ll enjoy it.
Did you make this, looks so crisp! good stuff!
Yes, and thank you! :)
This is so good! I've been getting into film making as an adult and just randomly searched about a level media/film studies and this popped up. Very Edgar Wright style with the editing and story. Loved it! What was the brief you were given?
Thank you! I can’t actually remember what the brief was as this was a good 4 years ago now - I think we just had to create some form of media content, whether that be a short film, commercial or magazine. Then I believe we had to research and write a 5000 word essay on it.
2:10 when you work on a group project alone
Can't believe its taken so long for someone to comment on that ahaha XD Yeah I needed a way of pushing the video over the 2 minute mark so that was the answer :p
lovely little short, well done!
stumbled on this by accident, this is class lmao
What editing tool did you use to make this? By far the best one I've seen :)
Thank you! :) This was edited using Adobe Premiere Pro
Just about to start film studies and if i have to do all this I’m so done for
Good job Louis,
Could I ask you what is your camera model?
Thank you! It’s a Panasonic Lumix GH4
Many Thanks Louis
This is so amazing, would it be alright if you did a blog on your coursework to insert a link :)
Amazing! I come back to this often
Can I ask what sound effects are used like when he realises. I’m not sure what they’re called
Hey, Thank you! The sound effects were actually made for the project. I just did a load of random stuff and recorded it in a quiet place on the camera and then ripped the audio from the video files. This includes smacking flowers on the floor multiple times until it sounded like floors hitting the backseats of the car 🤣
Hey Louis, awesome film, can you please tell me more about post-production work? How did you do sound and colour correction and colour grade?
Thank you :) and everything was done in Adobe Premiere pro
This was too short, I loved it
Thank you 😁🙏🏻
Shaun of the dead vibes 😂
Thank you! 😂 I was actually going for that vibe 🙌🏻
outstanding acting performance
What camera did you use? this is so good!
Thank you! Just a GH4 and an old canon t5i at the time
what camera did you use to film this? it looks amazing!
Thank you! I believe I used a Panasonic GH4-R for the majority of it. They’re a brilliant camera for the money - think you can pick one up on eBay for like £300 nowadays
Lmao this was filmed on my street😂
Can you give a link to the blogs of this project?
i liked the cinematography but the plot and acting sort have dragged it down for me
please what device did you film this on? I've got a short trailer to do for my coursework
This was shot mostly on a Panasonic GH4 - pretty old and cheap camera nowadays :) I’d say rather than focusing too much on the camera, focus on the story, composition & lighting of your shots - if you can get these right you can shoot on anything and make it look good believe me
so that was astar,whatever then
Lol funny end
Mine is due like last week ago and dunno what to film, any tips? Sick btw
It really depends on what you coursework was aimed towards, like i studied the techniques used by Edgar Wright and Wes Anderson, therefore my film has to follow a similar narrative and editing style to theirs.
Louis Jones mine is just to create a short film 2 minutes long, is not a level so there isn’t anything else to it, I just find it weird filming my mates and struggle to think of an idea we’re I only film myself
Kieran LittleTA I get you, it’s just one of those things you have to get used to... it’s always weird telling people what to do. However, thats literally what it’s like directing music videos/ short films in the industry so you just have to adjust to it. Once you’ve done it a few times it gets a lot easier 😊
what lens did you use?
Panasonic 25mm 1.8
how do you do the glasses shot? great short film.
Thank you! and I literally just got my mate to mimic his head movements, He held his glasses in front of the lens and we moved together + to get the out of focus effect i held the glasses up to the camera and then focus for the inside of one of the shades, then when we pulled the glasses away the picture was blurred
oh fuck do i need to get a camera for film studies
i got an A* by copying the half life lore
Not gonna lie... no clue what that is geezer.
What software was it edited on?
Premiere Pro
@@LouisJonesFilm yeah thaught so, avid media composer is better xD!!
Nice short but 35 seconds of it is unfair to use considering it’s copyrighted
The copyright has no stand in this video as it was a school project made with educational intensions - which were set out by the brief my college provided. If this was being distributed to festival etc then yes... but since it’s literally a project I’ve uploaded to help other people the contents mean nothing.
what’s the actual title of this ?
The anniversary
KKKK funny thank you
