- San Jose Mayor Matt Mahan and former Mayor Sam Liccardo wanted to rally behind the small business that recently had a large order from Tesla canceled, and the community decided it wanted to join in the support as well. abc7ne.ws/3TlDnbr

It's the community that gives back, not corporations and billionaires whose greed is bottomless.
More welfare for striving business in the corrupt failed Democrat controlled Charcoal State of California!
Yet we are the ones that pay billions in taxes that go straight to the government that helps the community .. Stupid people I
Except for Elon Musk. He is NOT motivated by greed. Rather, by the power to do good. He stepped in to make good for the bakery.
LMFAO HAHAHHAHAHA LOLOL HEHEHEHEH LOL ROFL SMFH @@carlkelley4566
I don't understand why she needed to mention it is a "Black-women-owned" store. I feel this could have been handled directly with Tesla, but they smelled a nice media opportunity. Don't take everything at face value.
New Policy: Prepayment. No Refunds On Large Orders.
yup. or pay 40-50% upfront.
There's a local burger joint i used to go to having very good ones. I used to call in orders of 6 or 10 frequently but one evening they said theu couldnt any more. Turns out they were disputing w 2 other eateriea and they had started to get flooded w spam calls as well as false orders. Reason it sucked was cause you had to wait 10-15mins even when u ordered jist one but i guess that was also a good thing being made when u order it
That actually make so much sense, your a genius.😄
Exactly that's what Most business do😅😅ppl do prank calls and cancels...
most bakeries have some sort of deposit system before paying full amount on big orders, surprised she didn't have one🤔
That tesla employee that doubled the order and then canceled should be suspended or fired. Total lack of regard for their actions on a small business.
Maybe the business should have gotten a deposit or a purchase order before making all those pies?
@safeandeffectivelol maybe the multi billion dollar company should know not to fuck over small business
The way to run a business is to get a deposit on big orders. I get 3-5 cancels a year and it’s like free profit and mostly no work. She has no clue running a business.
I have dealt only twice with Tesla employees (About 4 years ago) from the former NUMI facility. It was not a great experience. Thankfully we'd not dedicated any product toward the two occasions. Mind you this is corporate behavior. Dealing with Facebook and Google employees has generally not been positive. Oddly (perhaps) the half a dozen times I dealt with Apple employees the interaction was high powered but ok.
@@bearmerica6668: Sounds to me like she’s running a very successful business based on trust and faith in the goodness of most human beings and not basing her life on the Trumps, Bankman-Frieds, Madoffs and the trickle-down attitude of certain corporate CEOs and other executives.
Tesla already gets a lot of bad press these days, and yet that employee decided that it would be a good idea to get more.😂
😅I'm sure that idiot lost his job
Learnt first hand from his boss...
90% of their staff is from the 209.
Not the brightest bunch.
And their management are coke addicted clowns.
So good decision making choices is literally a foreign concept to them.
Hmmmm sounds like fake news but ye...😅
Tesla=💩! …. Elon Musk=🤡!…… the next Mike pillow!
What a jerky move whoever that employee is who cancelled!! A reprimand or suspension is warranted!
Kudos to the community!
In an earlier report it turned out the employee misspoke and wasn’t authorized to place the order it was supposed to just be get a quote or something…
@@Littlebit1031 But how long did it take for the Tesla employees to notice that they actually placed an order? If you weren’t authorized then you would definitely know that prior to calling the bakery. And why didn’t they call them back right away to correct it before the order was started?
Amen!!!
Tesla paid her so she got their money and the communities money.
Calm down, they just didn't want them
This only happened because of media attention. The text message the Tesla employee sent was disgusting. "ThAnKs fOr YoUr SupPorT!"
Nothing wrong with media attention in this case if it helps the little guy after they get dinged by corporations and their mistakes.
Y r so many ppl disgusting like the OP comment. Crazy how y guys LOOK for something to hate. Ur pathetic
Yeah and what's wrong with them getting media attention after the employee at tesla behaved the way they did? It's a good thing that the community is supporting them the way they deserve!
I think whoever brought this very bad publicity for Tesla and Elon Musk has already been dismissed. 😅
@@shizukagozen777 I was thinking the same. That's the worst case scenario when the top boss notices and has to publicly comment on an extreme negative community problem caused by a peasant worker.
next time she better get a deposit that covers her supplies at the least.
Yep
it's sad but true. unfortunately too many people pull this crap, and it sucks to prepay, but that is the way of life now, and I support it. Especially because I support so many small businesses
Business mogul here
pretty basic business practice . I won't go out of pocket for materials for any job . Pay me for labor after the job , fine . But I am not paying for material costs . Too many people change their minds these days , like this . Too many times I built stuff and the owner had a new brain fart and wanted it changed . They tend to stick to the original plans when they are on the hook for materials to change it . This lady should have got a deposit , 100% . Tesla or not . Corps are the worst for ripping little guys off .
Great job citizens of San Jose!
Thanks for outting them. Musk won't do sh*t. His ego got bruised.
Probably wasn’t even his fault. But The Tesla workers
@@Odyssey636 made the comment when I saw it. Day after Tesla did a half @$$ way of trying to make good. I’m glad she’s busy and doesn’t need them
Funny enough he wrote a check for $2000 for this woman AFTER he heard what happened. She forgot to mention that.

Love to see this. I’ll need to support this bakery too. The pies look delicious! Community support is where the heart is
Try one of the lemon pies and one of the apple crumb pies, and get back to me on how they are. They looked absolutely delicious!
I have been to this shop several times over the past year. They are great pies. Every time I went there the business seemed slow. This “Pie gate” fiasco put them on the map . Great advertising!!
Sigh.
Is this supposed to be an intentional/non intentional douche comment? Jealousy maybe?
Wow, shame on that Tesla employee.
I used to work at a small bakery, large orders like these take so much time and manpower to get done on time and small quality businesses like these make everything by hand. Plus we have to tend to customers that are walk-ins and make bread to sell in store at the same time.
Beautiful story. Nice to see the community supporting one another.
This brings a smile to my face. What a beautiful community!!! Good on the mayor and former mayor as well as everyone who came for her!!! You’re all wonderful people!💖💖💖💖
Elon Musk has a reputation for puliing out of big commitments at the last minute, with the only exception being his interns.
Were you one of the interns?

If usually that’s what happens its definitely you. everybody isn’t going to wanna kick you unless you are a horrible person. that deserves to be kicked so stop looking at everybody else and pay attention to yourself and why you are such a horrible person that everybody don’t like you
Those are the kind of people who tear down others to build themselves up. A real friend is one who will laugh with you amd not at you.
You and I share similar experiences. I don’t have a whole lot of good luck, but I never wished others didn’t have it either. However, at same time as being happy for this great proof of humanity, I’m also sad. It’s a bit hard to be forgotten.
The employee who placed that order should seriously face consequences for their lack of compassion and being incompetent when working with partners and vendors. Really happy to see the community all come together though. Also, can’t believe a mini pie in CA is like $3; they’re like $8+ here in CO. …and I keep getting told everything is more expensive there 🙄
You're right about that!!!
For a large order I'm sure she gave the consumer a break.
Fr, because it's a bad look for Tesla's reputation even though it's only one employees fault.
Prepayment for big orders. Simple.
Right, that is common sense for any business to do that. Or even orders.
Most folks wouldn’t do such a thing, I don’t blame her.
That's exactly what I thought. Imagine if it had been a prankster.
But it wasn't so no, yeah
@@RobertJohnson-hp4gz- You should. Anyone in food service or catering knows she didn’t have a real Purchase Order
You don’t ask for a deposit for large orders? If the client cancels you keep the deposit. It’s a win win if you know how to run a business. I get 3-5 clients a year that cancel and I sometimes are glad they cancel and it’s easy profit. Don’t ever trust people’s words, get a deposit!
Your business sounds a bit fragile if a few cancelled orders are a serious issue. I run a construction contracting business and I get very occasional cancellations, maybe 1 a year, and I’m already overbooked anyway so it’s not an issue. What do you do?
And landlords can’t collect deposits if tenants don’t pay or screws up their property?

That's crazy af. I would have asked for half if not full payment. A big corporation screwing over a small mom and pop shop.
Are you surprised? This is what horrible corporations do to small businesses unfortunately:(
No. It was one employee that messed up. They were supposed to get a quote, but the person accidentally placed an order. Then when they eventually found out they cancelled it. Elon gave her $2,000. Double what the order was.

No, if you think about it. The business owners do not know how to run a business. It's common sense to ask for a deposit for large orders to prevent losses from situations like this. Customers are paying for the stupid mistakes of the business.
@@stelity Lol shut up. She probably doesn't get huge orders like this all the time n knew that the order was for Tesla. Ofc she didn't think to charge a deposit

Ok but why would she have accepted an order that massive without a non refundable deposit?
bad decision but not every small business owner is business savvy unfortunately and she probably got swept up in getting such a large order
It's called trusting the company placing the order
@jennifergarnatz6860 not an order that large. No way, I would have charged half up front. That's too much of a logistical risk and a bad move protecting yourself. I wish we could just trust companies not to pull out of stuff like this but us small business owners can't afford to.

F c k Tesla. Having a small business spend time, effort, and resources on an 16k order to cancel. How dare they.
What goes around comes around. She cancelled other customer orders to make the big one. Honestly she doesn't deserve any local support at all.
Greta, is that you?
Welcome to the real world. Its cutthroat. She should have taken the deposit to protect herself, that was the foolish move, she assumed "its all good". This should of never happened but could have been mitigated.
@@geoffh1 Use your ears, she did not. At 0:52 you’ll hear it. She didn’t cancel any orders, she turned down other orders. There’s a difference. So she could dedicate her time to this one big one.

When I first heard about this, I thought: "Elon Musk - what a no good SOB". But then someone on the inside told me that he called the person associated with this transaction and told them in no uncertain terms that this kind of thing would not be tolerated. the internet has trained us to see someone's hard time and point out what they should do, when the move is to see someone's hard time and think about what WE can do.
someone can do every single thing the most cautiously possible, having no faith in humanity and no trust or corporate manners, and a problem might still happen. this is why we need each other to show up, not just point out what you should have done with hindsight and no context
No matter who you are , if u get such a huge order you need to take half the payment upfront imo .

Always take a 50% deposit on large custom orders. That's messed up they texted and cancelled the order, so glad the community helped!
This sounds more like an employee without the authority to order the pies, ordered them and canceled when she went to get the money for the order and they laughed at her. In large companies, even small purchases have to go through , at least, a few people in different departments. It prevents theft and waste by not allowing one person or one department to spend money. Even if the purchase was paid for by an item in a budget, say for office parties, it still needs to be approved. You need someone to issue a purchase order and then you take that purchase order to someone else who you usually have to beg or maybe bribe with one of the pies to get them to release the funds.
So some of you say that you are there to support the business, and yet you show up for this one day claiming that you are caring and show support, then be a true supporter and be a regular customer, more then just showing up for this one day.
That employee is one who leaves a hotel room trashed and won't tip the housekeeper, or throw trash by the garbage and look at the janitor to pick it up. No empathy or regards to their time and efforts. Dock The employee check
