  • The Motorhome search continues. We had wasted time this weekend after twice visiting a Motorhome dealer and them being closed, Onwards and upwards though as we had a great visit to Camper UK Lincoln.

    We have a Rimor with 2 drop down beds and it has a garage under the rear lounge. We can certainly recommend them and the dealer M&C in Hull as well.

    We had same issues and ended up going for the kon tiki 675 high - turned out to be a great choice. You can still use the lounge when the kids don't want to get up as the over cab bed is quite high, the lounge / dining area is big enough to cater for bad weather ( 8 people will fit in comfortably!), the bathroom is a good size and has privacy doors on the kitchen and bedroom side, the rear bedroom has 2 single beds that can be converted into a huge double if you prefer and the bonus is the massive garage which easily swallows up bikes, chairs, table, BBQ and even an extra fridge for my beer. We usually do rallies and have driven it on a month long trip through France, Italy and Spain with no issues. There is a 2019 one available on flea bay if you want a look at some photos

      Great advice thank you, we always need that extra fridge for the beers!

    go for fixed rear bed layout/front bed and you won't regret, garage space is often undervalues and not needing to make up beds every day is great especially if you plan on touring.

      @campingrallies  Před 3 měsíci

      Yes, Natasha is definitely swaying towards this, not wanting to make up and put away the beds everyday.

    Our preference would be the fixed island bed, but then again, we're old gits and don't have any kids to tag along.
    The center drop down bed would do my head in I couldn't live with that, we also don't like the rear facing seats in the dinette as we like to sit in the front seats and put out feet up but there is only 2 of us. You pay your money and take your chances and hope that you have it right. Good luck with the search.
    Have you tried Prestige motors near Bawtry?

    • @campingrallies
      @campingrallies  Před 3 měsíci +1

      thank you, we haven't tried that but we are not far from Bawtry at all so will have to go and look. Yes totally agree fingers crossed we get it right!

    Glad you have decided to look post 2016, that way any future sale will always be compliant and will not be pushed back by age.. When we first started looking for a Mh back in 2008 a bit of advice given to us.
    Sit down and between you all set out your main MUSTS. Then add Nice to Have and then list Nos. Then apply that to the layout of the van as Must Nice and No.
    Once you have worked out what your settled van layout and spec looks like sit down on the web and look at a list of manufacturers Select one and look at all thier respective layouts that they offer and then you have identified a specific model number. that fits your wants and needs Many manufacturers over the years have the same layouts model numbers but just upgrade the finish and on board toys so that particular model will probably go back a number of years to 2016. At the end of the research you will have a list of targeted models that fits your wants.
    That way it is then a case of searching the stock of dealers through the Uk for your desired van models. That will save countless hours time and money visiting dealers who may not have anything that is on your want list.
    Also contact the dealers giving your details and tell them what model you are looking for. Any decent salesman will have you on file and when a particular model is traded in he knows to give you a call.

      Thank you, yes we definitely agree post 2016 is a must. We are currently waiting for the sale on our house to go through, so we have a bit of time to visit dealers to experience the differences between males and models, however it is a great idea to sit and distinguish between what we want/need thank you for taking the time to comment.

    We definately benefited from hiring our first ever moho.... We went for a rollerteam 747 but didn't get on with the drop down bed as it closed a lot of the van off when it was down. We know we wanted a rear lounge and nothing was going to pursuade us from that. We went for a rollerteam 746 with overcab bed which we love (have a look at them from 2020 onwards. Very smart machine). The only downside of an overcab bed is in France you have to pay class 3 on the tolls for anything above 3m high and they've got laser cameras to confirm so difficult to argue with them otherwise. Good luck in your search but you deffo need to look at the rollerteam 746 👍👍

      @campingrallies For the Sake of a few hundred pounds hire fee, you could be saving thousands in the long run.. I personally know a few people ego bought what they thought was the right layout for them only to find when living with it, it was the wrong choice after all... Could be an expensive mistake. As I said look at the 746 as I think it'll tick most if not all of your boxes. Good luck in your search.... 👍

    Don’t underestimate how useful a garage is under a fixed bed you will be surprised how much you use it 4 people travelling with no garage to store 4 chairs a large table bbq even bikes. I had a van no garage and would never go back to a van with out one or a fixed bed look ar Adria matrix layouts 😀

    We have a carthago, we have an electric drop down bed, and two singles at back of motorhome, if I’m honest I’d prefer if the drop down bed was manual, we’ve had the motor go on ours twice, they are expensive to replace . Good luck with your search ❤

    • @campingrallies
      @campingrallies  Před 3 měsíci +1
