AHHHH GAVIN 🥹🥰 I can’t even explain the joy watching this vlog brought me. It was like reliving the entire trip again. I’m so glad we got this time together, this really was the trip of a lifetime for me and I already miss Japan sooooo freaking badly!!! I’m forever grateful for this trip and I had the best time ever with you 🥹🥰 can’t wait for all our future adventures!!!

The lovely sequence in the beginning masks the fact the tension Gavin probably had while packing at such short notice.
Don't apologize for not reading, this was just pure fun! When you go on your trips don't be pressured to read just enjoy your holiday, we won't care, we're having fun watching you have fun. The shrine in Kyoto that's all gates was in the movie Memoirs of a Geisha so I recognized that. Japan is beautiful and if I wanted to go it would be to Okinawa to visit history, my grandpa fought as a Marine in the battle for Okinawa. I want to step foot where he did.
The last two weeks have been very busy because in the States my boys started back up with school. My oldest is in middle school, he's a sixth grader and my youngest is still in elementary as a second grader. So, we're all getting back to a routine and all the fun stuff. Reading wise has been a bit slower, but that's because I discovered Stranger Things, yeah, am late to the party and am now watching Squid Game. I highly recommend Episode Thirteen by Craig DiLouie for spooky season if you like paranormal and watching ghost hunting shows on TV. This book is also mixed media.
I will be anticipating the one in Egypt. I would have loved to go, but it wasn't in the cards. I am looking forward to more adventures and loved seeing Jesse, they are so much fun. 😊💕💕💕

I'm so glad you had such a fun time in Japan! My last year of Uni has started and your videos have been keeping me company while I do homework. As for some of the books that were in shown in the video, I highly recommend Heaven's Offical Blessing light novels. They are amazing, but I would warn you about the body horror that happens in it if you are a bit squeamish to that.

When I got to the fish spa part I gasped in horror. Literally just saw a story on Tiktok of a woman who got a horrid infection from those and lost a couple of toes.

knowing that you liked the tea ceremony makes me think you would love the manga called skip beat a contemporary manga about a young girl who moved to Tokyo with her friend than realized she was just being used for a house keeper while her friend got to be a j-pop star, she decides to go into the showbiz scene, also I loved this video so far it feels like I am back in Japan while watching this. dude you were hanging out with a bunch of new people and some faces we as a bookish family recognize and getting to know everyone better don't stress not reading while on this trip I am just happy you had a good time.

I’m so glad you enjoyed Japan! I went there last December and absolutely enjoyed it. I can’t handle heat so going to japan in winter is the best for me. Please visit Tokyo next time, I think you’ll love it. But don’t forget to prepare your wallet because you will be blown away by the amount of one piece stuff you can buy there especially if you visit akihabara

Totally fine about not reading. This blog is yours! Do what you want! You DID go manga shopping, so I give this blog an A+ on the book content. Sometimes, it's not about where you go in the pages- sometimes, you gotta go to the places where some of your loves originated, and see what influenced the writers to write what they do. So, you just went on an origin story for some of the manga you enjoy! I call it a win!

Loved watching this trip! And honestly, I just recently got back from a trip this summer and had such a similar experience (sunburn, bug bites, walking fatigue, and an illness as soon as I got home) and it sucked! BUT it’s crazy how that still doesn’t take away from the magic that is traveling. Glad you survived and had a good time!

I was going to go to Japan with you but I ended up doing a solo trip around New South Wales, Australia visiting a few towns and our National capital city. Was so good bought lots of books. Was annoyed that I drove past a town that had books from floor to ceiling in it. But going back again in two years time. So much to see in my Country.

You probably didn't get sunburnt on the plane, but just wanted to give a quick reminder to all travelers that ~1 hour next to the window on a plane at 30,000 feet is equal to ~20 minutes in a tanning bed (in uv exposure) so don't forget to wear sunscreen!

I'm honestly surprised u didn't spend more time in cat cafes in Japan given how much you love Ash and Tobu Gavin. But this was amazing to watch. That series you were curious about with the mask is called "Choujin X" I've never read it so i can't say if it's good or not but that cover to vol 1 is very memorable.
Loved this feature film!! And the music especially!! By the way, there is a really cool cozy mystery/slice of life light novel series called „Holmes of Kyoto“ that I think you would really enjoy now that you‘ve been in Kyoto yourself.

@ min 53:14 is the realist thing ive ever seen... fellow lazy person here, and i can attest that those 20k plus steps a day are just murder on the legs.... i went for 2 weeks in july, and i think by day 4 i was walking just like that😂😂. Idk how i pulled it off, but once i was out for the day it got less noticeable... but japan was totally worth it😊

You should check out second hand book stores in Japan. When I was there a few years back I remember buying a lot of books and manga for like 100 yen each lmao and they looked NEW NEW, some of them were even wrapped and were not touched lmao. I only went to Tokyo and Osaka tho, so idk about other cities...but I bet many have those stores...
Edit: damn, finished the video and just realized you already left Japan lmao, oh well...you can visit those stores another time...

Funnily enough the merman BL you picked up I own and have read with a translation app. It's fun but a lil questionable. I'm still gonna get volume 2 and have an acrylic stand for it to as it came with my copy XD
The video is amazing how far I have got in so far. Where you are on about sun cream that is fantastic the problem is you have moisturised after and that is why it will cook your skin. Next time moisturise first as soon as you have washed face and then apply sunscreen and keep applying it throughout the day. Definitely remember that ready for Egypt as that is going to be a whole different heat xx
