Watching this while painting my bedroom because after years of renting and living in houses that are not homes, I’m finally in my own place and able to make it the home I’ve been craving and it’s so nice to see other people going through the same thing 💕
I'm late but I need to write this, please please don't let your cats out, no matter the neighborhood. I follow a few rescue groups on Facebook and the pictures of cats that are being let out of homes and had some tragic accidents are a lot to handle. Your kitties seem to be amazing and they love you a lot and they really don't need to go out to have a good life, quite the opposite. There are too many things that could happen, poisoning, car accidents, people harming them, them getting lost.. It's not worth it honestly.
I really enjoy the life bits and whatnot in between the book updates, Gavin. They always puts a smile on my face. The Parent Trap accent swap made me cry with laughter!

I clicked instantly when I saw Merphs face, and then was like ' if he doesn't pick up Locke imma cry'! Thankfully you did and I'm so happy you enjoyed it ! Along with Jurassic Park, it's one of my favourite recommendations of Merphs ^^ As a non native English speaker it was a real hurdle to read, especially the first third, but once the story gets going you can't put it down

I love the vloggy parts of this video! You can definitely make content out of your every day life and house updates and similar, if that's something you feel like doing. I know that I would watch it and perhaps it could help a bit your conflict of what to prioritize (channel vs you).
We moved into our home 12 years ago, and when we started renting, I was like this is just temporary until we can find a place we love. Then we bought the house 10 years ago and I was still like, ok this is temporary.
Yeah, we're still here. So I get that thought of, why go through so much to decorate and really make it feel like home, but now I'm like whatever, this is my home right now, so I want to make it peaceful and welcoming and cozy. With 4 children and multiple animals, it's not very clean or peaceful haha, but it is well lived in for sure.
You should vlog “Reading Booktube Friends: sequels” since it seems like a lot of these are series
I am so happy you liked Red Rising!!! ❤❤❤ I love the themes of Roman and Greek! I describe the series as Rome in space! It is so much more than that, though! After those first 70 pages or so it feels like non stop action, and manipulatetive machinations just to survive. I love it!

I’ve been trying hard to get out of my slump lately and seeing you also go through a similar situation, really helped me feel better about this whole thing. I genuinely think Red Rising is the best once you hit Iron Gold and Dark Age (exceptions for me being the final scene of Morning Star and Mustang’s “moment” near the end of Golden Son). The way Pierce Brown expands the scope by adding points of view and how he manages the extra plot lines is just SO GOOD. Mostly though I love how you get to see post resolution politics, which you basically never get in dystopias. And also getting a window into Mustang’s brain is absolutely primo, iconic, no notes. Haven’t read Light Bringer yet and I will be very very upset if anything worse than what has already happened to her happens.

this was so fun to watch! with what you were talking about with the beginning plot of red rising -- i thought it was a spoiler when i first read it because it took a while to happen, but now i know that's a trope that people can love or hate, so it's good to know abt beforehand
i also struggle with noisy neighbors (in my case, kids screaming all day and most of the night), and i use airpods, a fan, and rain asmr to drown them out
I loved The Lies of Locke Lamora, I was surprised too. It feels like you can read it as a standalone almost.
Ooooh if you like the formatting and layout of Sleeping Giants, you should also read World War Z. It was seriously so good and a very quick read.
The Themis Files is one of my fave audiobook series.
omg this vlog just gave me flashbacks to listening to the Sleeping Giants audiobook at the beach with my eyes closed and losing it at the scream. i read the second book physically and definitely enjoyed it much less without the audio.

I think it's hilarious how you use this video as an opportunity to do house Chores while I use it to do mine too!
I also prefer to go into books blind and if you're referring to you know who getting cut from the story, it does happen in chapter 6 so it's not really a spoiler. I will say though, the ending to the Golden Son messed me up so highly recommend continuing with Red Rising!

Red Rising is a great series! And it's long enough that you really get your heart kicked in a few times as you get to know and love the characters. I don't think *that* plot point is a spoiler for book 1 - it happens early enough on and is the catalyst for the events that happen for the rest of the series. Plus, Becca says the "spoiler" every time she mentions Red Rising, so I think you're safe 😅
I also really enjoy the slice of life parts in this video, It kinda gives a personal touch. Also, if I ever become rich, id buy you a house. I also got very giddy when my comment came up, even if it was for just a moment, it made me happy. I hope you feel less stressed now gav, please tell me if I can do anything :)
For me locke lamora felt like if you took robin hood, mistborn, six of crows and oliver twist and shoved them in a blender then thats what it sort of is 😂 i recently finished it and i loved it

Probs just me but if my neighbours were making racket past 11pm multiple times a week, I'd be calling the landlord (if possible) and the police (by law you can report them between 11pm and 7am for Disruption) every time. Also I'd be getting up at like 7am to wake them up in revenge. I don't do "noisy neighbours". Fuck 'em.

Please please please keep reading Sleeping Giants. The audiobooks are amazing and you HAVE to read the Lost Files along with it. Only Human is different from the first two for sure but one of the best sci-fi series out there. The interview format makes it all the better.

Oh lovely, it’s heartbreaking hearing how you do not feel safe to out down roots in the house you are living in. I completely understand that feeling and uncertainty is just crap.
The only thing that I can say about furniture is that you take it with you. So investing in things to make this house feel like a home will also work to make the next house feel like a home too.
Investing in pieces for your peace of mind is so so important and they will help ground you whenever you move by making the next place feel like a home for you faster. Only good things can come of this decision to prioritise yourself 🤍

We seem to be going through a similar thing with our homes! We’ve been talking about moving for a year and it’s just not possible atm so we finally bought some big furniture pieces and rearranged things and it’s made me feel so so so much better! I hope you get that relief and that your house becomes a home 💗 the sofas are very beautiful!! Love them!
