Alternatively, just stick with Nate and Nora, and save yourself an hour designing a character you initially think looks good, but eventually realise kinda sucks. At least there's a face/hair change option in game....now if only there were a respec.

I turned my female character into a raider. I used the shaved pony tail bleached. Then used face paint white and diamond/harley quinn face paint red. Looks really good.
I think Hispanic tees are pretty cool, but I always struggled to make a character that accurately looks Hispanic in this game, facial features and stuff
All I do is use Male Preset 1. I get a nice-looking hairstyle, and change the type of the jowls, nose, and cheeks to get rid of those wrinkles. And then I have my character for the game. It looks pretty nice, but later I always decide to visit DC to lift the jowls a little bit.
It would be amazing if a future dlc resurrects your spouse and you can have them as a companion. How cool would that be. Basically giving us the chance to create our own companion
Would ruin the whole story honestly but the snyth idea makes sense. Buy the dlc (or get a mod honestly cause it may already be in the workshop at the point...hmm I bet making your own mod just for this would be quite easy as well) and then give a certain part/parts to a worker so then can construct it. Even better: Make a robot with your wife's peeled off face screwed onto it 🤖💍
Fallout 4 is the first game I've played with the default face. I hate this character creation system. I know they were trying to re-invent the wheel. But sliders give you far more control and let's people share exact instructions on how to create a look. If it was possible to make hot people like BG3 I'd be ok with this system, but you can't. You can either make a 5/10 person or a 1/10 potatoes faced person.
