DiscountJuicers.com will you do a review on entry level juicers one day? Eg: Breville Compact vs Hamilton Beach Big Mouth?
Thank you in advance, and thank you for sharing your wealth of knowledge on both channels. I've learned a lot from you.

John I love my Green Star Elite and I mostly juice fruit. I have found that the fruit knob works good with the softer fruits. In the end, I always run the pulp through juicer with the normal knob at full compression. This way I always have the driest pulp and most juice. Fruit like oranges I prefer to eat for convenience.
I do all my melons with the rind which yields between 80 to 90% (by weight) of the fruit as compared to about 70% when just eating the fruit without the rind. I have also found that cleaning the screen before it becomes fully clogged helps a lot. These double auger juicers make great quality juice, but can take some time. If I can not get the backup to clear by loosening the knob, I just take the knob off till the backup clears and then run the pulp slurry through with higher and higher compressions till the pulp is the driest.
You have also said in the past that it does not do well with apples. I have found I get great trouble free apple juice with fuji apples. Juice on! Thanks for all that you do.

Good points! The Twin Gear is not my "every day juicer" so I dont have all the experience that you would! thanks for sharing.

I've had the complete opposite experience of John. I juice oranges and cucumbers on their own no problem with my Green Star Pro. Just loosen the knob 2 or 3 turns from full stiff after 1 cucumber or 1 or 2 oranges and then leave it their. You hardly loose any juice - the pulp is still as dry/wet as high-end vertical and horizontal single auger juicers. Also, you can always put the pulp back in and at full knob stiffness but that'll also get you more pulp and "globs".
Another thing I'd like to mention was I had the same thinking as John when it came to fruit and the coarse screen but it was a disaster when juicing oranges. The bigger holes just made thicker chunks or globs of orange get stuck and it was a disaster of a juice and the screen was surprisingly more difficult to clean.
Regarding pineapples, I only juice them with the skin and, again, have had no problems but John didn't use the skin in this video so it therefore wouldn't be fair to compare.
On a final note, please check out this video of the soft fruit knob (which I don't have) doing a fantastic job: czcams.com/video/8yeaxJ6fjJs/video.html

Hi John! This video demonstrates why I adore you and your mission to educate mankind to our highest health. Great demo showing your philosophy, "The right tool for the right job." "Pros & Cons." I just bought the VSJ843 from you. I love it! It replaced my SlowStar. Thanks for all your time and effort to educate the world about juicing and juicers. Angela

A coworker of mine owns the Green star pro she loves it though she wanted the same one I have the Super Angel. She love the idea to save on produce to maximize yields and its not much of a yield difference between the super angel. So she went with the green star pro and she is very happy. However for soft fruits and no veggies it can backup as what you shown. Sometimes busting out a centrifugal will do the trick but sacrifices yield and quality of juice.

JOHN, with the oranges i would have put the pulp back in, it may have helped the flow.

Thanks, I just bought one of these from you. I tried to make sorbet with frozen raspberries. The motor had a hard time, it labored. Do I remove that small end piece when I make sorbet? Mary

When making sorbet, there should be NO outlet adjusting knob used. You should leave it off.

think if a pusher with a silicone flap was provided like the Angel juicer has, you would have had a much easier time juicing the cucumber

This video explained in 5 seconds: Use hard produce (like carrots and celery) to help the soft produce through the juicer.
