Paramount usually drops their trailers on Tuesdays and Thursdays so if we ARE getting the Sonic Movie 3 trailer either next Tuesday or next Thursday,the Sonic Movie Twitter account would have to make tweet about the upcoming trailer the day before its release and show its poster.

Releasing the Sonic 3 trailer before IF makes complete sense as they are both Paramount films aimed towards a general audience. What better way to promote a movie than to market it before another big release.

They put the trailer before IF so the people going to see that can get interested in the movie. The target audience is similar, both family films. It's not to get people to see IF to watch the trailer because it will also be available online.
Summer Games Fest viewers are more likely to already be interested in seeing a video game movie to begin with compared to that general audience.

It sounds reasonable to put it in Summer Games fest, but the people watching SGF are gamers. Paramount has a big focus on general audiences with these films, so sticking it in front of their biggest Spring family movie makes sense. I think it's going to go viral either way.
Yeah I'm not understanding the Venn diagram showing Summer Games Fest viewers as having a small overlap between people who would watch the trailer regardless. It's a video game movie, SGF is the big gaming event of the summer. They aren't the priority for marketing because they're likely already interested.

It's not too early. The Lion King movie coming out the same day has had It's trailer out for around a week, and this is presumed to be the same teaser shown at Cinemacon, where we don't even hear Shadow speak. There'll be another couple of trailers that come later.

It worked for illuminations migration when that came out. They dropped a minions short before the movie so people wanted to see that. Perhaps the trailer will in fact be before the IF film

The reason they would do it before the Paramount film is because that trailer will likely play in theaters during the IF movie release as well. The summer game fest may have additional stuff, but this really shouldn't be considered "early" release compared to last time where stuff felt announced a whole year in advance for Sonic Movie 2.
Well they did do Sonic Movie 2 Trailer 4 months before release so its a bit sooner than the last film, which was shown at TGA which is the winter equivalent of SGF

If they were to release a trailer now, it would be played infront of alot of the big movies coming out during the summer. It would get alot of eyes on it as a result, so yes it would actually be very smart to release a trailer sooner rather than later.

To be fair, the audience for IF is not only going to be people who are sonic fans, and there’s definitely going to be other general audience who will watch the movie as a big break in the summer. So if they are releasing it that time, there is audience for that too. Either way there’s going to be a lot of new audience

Makes sense, IF has Ryan Reynolds in it so you know it's gonna have a lot of eyes on it. And we JUST got the second full length trailer for Paramount's other big movie A Quiet Place: Day One the other day and that movie is coming next month. Essentially two out of three of thier biggest movies coming out back-to-back, of course they're gonna wanna show their other big movie Sonic 3 before both.

The only people that watch summer game fest are people who play videogames so it would be dumb to release it then. The movie needs to appeal to the general movie audience so its likely before then. At this point a full trailer has to be ready and its got to be before the If movie in just a few days.
Honestly I think more gamers are more likely to watch a video game movie rather than people who dont usually watch video game movies.
