- EDIT: The voices at 12:57 (screaming) are unfiltered versions of the sounds that the biolizard makes. Yep! Those roars are really just Sonic and Shadow screaming with a bunch of effects added.
Sonic Adventure 2 has a lot of things that either go unused or have interesting connections to the game's development.

@Daniel von Strangle possibly as a reminder that things will turn up on behalf of the people that the 2 rivals protect as a whole; the video here shows something i've personally never heard of before, which is the president's newfound aspiration of the heroic selflessness that sonic and shadow display in their final stretch to prevent the ARK from destroying the planet. though it does make sense. i don't know why it wasn't used in the game though.. if it was, it wouldn't've later been used as sonadow fuel to the extent it did in shth. but hey, y'know.
i mean,it does not explain how he got shadow and sonic to pose for the picture after sonic heroes,but it explains why the guy took the picture at all and was like:"those heroes saved our world,so we have to protect it nomatter what"

touched on when the photo might've been taken, during the time of sonic heroes, but then there's the questioning of why shadow never bothered to ask anyone about his past in that specific period (2:22). now that i think about it, maybe that's bc shadow knew the answers he was silently searching for -- everyone who could possibly know about such events have either not turned up yet, or have been long dead, over 50 years ago. that and the present cast only learned about it, as abruptly as shadow did, in sonic adventure 2 (and then himself in shth). not to mention shadow wasn't even there when everyone else was watching the recording of gerald's execution.

@@ehuante2561 Hmm in Heroes there could have been a time where Rouge told him some stuff but just remembers bits and pieces of the events. I believe one of his lines were "Hmph. Somethings never change" when Rouge was talking about stealing the Master Emerald. It's kinda sad that detail never got fleshed out after Heroes or SA2.

Dark the Eagle I’m assuming the one about the core looking like the Master Emerald Altar considering that’s when the Biolizard appeared. Apparently the roar in that cutscene is made up of the audio clips of Sonic and Shadow screaming.
A cool thing to note is that the scrapped scenes with the President from the ending of the game were actually adapted into Sonic X, almost word for word for some of it. Guess the dialogue didn't go unused for too long. :P

Genya Kozlov what? I feel the exact opposite, and never seen someone praise the English one so much. How could the English soundtrack possibly be better? The Japanese soundtrack is awesome and one of the best Sonic soundtracks out there. The dub has generic tracks, replaces great Sonic music from the games, has worse intros and outros, and even does stupid stuff like replace gun noises with laser beams! And that’s just the music alone. Maybe people’s nostalgia for the English version is catching up, but it was pretty accepted from the beginning that 4kids completely screwed it up. Funimation should have got the gig

Wow, Eggman's unused ending lines with Tails sure create a different tone than the ones they settled on! Here, he sounds ready to continue his attempt at world domination, but in the final game, he sounds almost as though he's having a change of heart...
This stuff kind of creeps me out as well as being interesting. That there’s all these weird hidden things that are incomplete or incompatible but are still just floating around in the game somewhere.
Shadow' intense screaming probably would have scared kids but it would've made me laugh if it was in the game

So the Biolizard's roars are actually just edited versions of Japanese Sonic and Shadow screaming? That's pretty creepy! It makes me think that the Biolizard isn't roaring in anger but actually is in terrible pain, maybe hoping for all its agony, and maybe even its life, to come to an end. As if SA2 needed to be any darker!

So THAT'S why a lot of Eggman's voice clips are weird, I thought it was just limited to him saying "yosh" when petting a Chao or completing a level. At least now we have an explanation for why it sounds like he's saying "olé" when using his close range attack, or why it sounds like he's just saying "put" when he puts something down.
Also nice channel you've got here, I've always been interested in lost/unused content/odd things in Sonic games, or just games in general, and this is the most indepth video I've seen on Sonic Adventure 2 so far. I wouldn't have ever guessed the odd object placement in White Jungle's sky was meant for an early Green Forest, nobody else has mentioned it/figured that out from what I've seen. I've also never seen it be mentioned before that Cannon's Core is actually missing some tracks, I wonder what the rap for Knuckles's section would've sounded like
IIRC the story is that the voice director was Japanese. The VAs tried to tell him that those kinds of vocalisations don't make sense in English, but he wasn't having it. So they just had to do it, and now the game sounds weird forever.
I have to say, the voices they chose for both regions are pretty good.

I miss when sonic games were a huge spectacle like sonic adventure 2. Ever since the end of the Dreamcast the sonic franchise has been like a stroke victim. Its been getting gradually better but it'll never be the same.
Same. Sonic Adventure 2, to me, was the last good Sonic game, where I cared about the characters and the world they inhabited. It's always just a cluster F of randomness now, completely different from game to game.

Thank you for dissecting deeply into one of my favorite games of all time. This is like a blast from the past and I can't tell you how awesome it is to see others that love this game as much as I did and do today. Sonic Adventure 2 is amazing, perhaps the best in the series, but one of my biggest stamps in life as a kid. It means that much to me as a game, nothing else like it

I'm kinda glad we didn't get an expanded and more complicated Meteor Herd. However, I am disappointed that we didn't get that D-pad camera in the Chao Garden.
Hey, a couple of interesting rumors I've heard about SA2.
* The character models are apparently very highly encrypted and buried under lots of DRM. So much so that to this day no one has managed to get into them and tinker with them.
* If you pet a Chao as Amy, the Chao will actually become a Dark Chao.
I was wondering if there's any truth to these rumors.

From messing around with codes a long time ago on the Gamecube version, I seem to remember the game assigned alignments for the race and emerald hunt 2p characters just as it did the regular ones, with Amy and Tikal being Hero aligned, and Metal Sonic and Chaos 0 being Dark aligned.

Another thing I've noticed, is that when Amy hangs off of something, she says "Well, yeah", which is re-used from a cutscene!
In Japanese she just says うん there, which doubles up as a generic grunt a lot better than that line does.

@@SPEEPSHighway I remember one time I was in the neutral Chao garden with Sonic in the Gamecube version of SA2B and Sonic said an idle line of dialogue. He said "What a peaceful place," which is the same as his Chao garden idle clip from SA1, but it was in his SA2 voice. I never heard any idle clips from any characters in SA2 in the Chao garden other than that one instance, so maybe there's a bug that keeps idle clips from playing in the Chao garden? It's really strange that that happened once but never happened again.

19:33 Sonic's VA at the time explained the japanese producers of the game wanted the english cast to do the same grunts as the jp ones as they were watching over the recording sessions. He tried to explain it's done differently in the west, but they didn't listen to him.

There's also dialogue that Omochao says about "taking chao for a walk" (a obvious reference to Chao Adventure) in SA2B which is referenced in MainMemory's "Omochao edition" mod for the PC port.
That's bizarre seeing dialogue mentioning "Chao Adventure" exist in the Gamecube port of Sonic Adventure 2.
The only extra thing that can be done with Chao in SA2B on Gamecube is transferring them to the Tiny Chao Garden and back.
The chao transfer even works with Sonic Advance.

This video just made me remember how much I love SA2 music.
That's lame the 2 player Green Hill was never put in the final. That would've been such a perfect reward for the daunting task of 100%ing the game, unlocking it for 1 and 2 player
Wow, this is cool. I actually found something I haven't seen documented anywhere while messing around with the Chao Key glitch on the ps3. I beat one of the 2p battle Mech levels 100 Rings Challenge (might've been Mission Street, but that might show up as blank) and then checked what level showed up on my save file for what was last completed. To my surprise, it showed Tails' character icon! I found it fun to beat that level as tails so my save file would show two Tails icons. Know anything about that or why it happened?
Other things I saw were the drowning animations for the mechs and hedgehogs, but they're nothing special.
