- The Battle for Epsilon III from B5's A Voice in the Wilderness (episode 18 & 19, season 1). Please note this is all the relevant CGI extracted in order from the episode.
I recently started re-watching (yet again) my Babylon 5 DVD box set collection. Figured I'd do a favour to all my subscribers that did so because of the B5 content I uploaded in the past.
Although it's entertainment, we can also consider it educational for anyone studying CGI of the mid 90's.

I was really surprised this planet did not play a bigger role in the Shadow wars.
If it had, it would have been one of the first Death Cloud targets.

the real let down here was that babylon5 could have became a research station for the great machine on planet.even if eathforce got no more than spectography on distant worlds it would've been immense. The interstellar alliance would've benefited greatly too.a hundred thousand yrs of knowledge in a structure at least 500 yrs old but nope let's pretend it doesn't exist and destroy the station above it 20 yrs later

Trying to find a bathroom in the middle of a lost alien under ground city is not easy.
Depends on your outlook really, anything can be a toilet with the proper can-do(do) attitude
epsilon 3 required an organic life form to keep its machines running. can't remember if it ever said who the people were that created the machines inside Epsilon 3.
There are theories: Vorlons (a bit too obvious; and why wasn't Kosh involved in the whole thing if so), Varn's race (he was in the machine, after all, and the enemy "Varn's race" folk were searching for it for 500 years, which implies some sort of civil war, awareness of the machine at least, or both), another either named or unnamed First One race, or Valen convincing an unnamed First One race to build the damned thing in the first place, 1000 years before . . . Take your pick; I'm not sure Strackzynski has canoned any single theory yet.
If you play close attention to the hangar entrance, its walls resemble Shadow nanotech. Hence the great machine needs a living CPU hmmm 😅
Kinda wonder if this battle would have played differently if Earth Force had sent a an Omega or even an upgraded Hyperion.

Quite franky omega, and hyperion would fuck them up, since omega was considers among the the more powerfull ships of the younger races
@@AnestNightroad I would think so too. Sheer fire power from the particle lasers alone would tip the balance to Earth's side. Throw in the 36 Thunderbolt Starfurys that Omega carried and it's game over.

The Great Machine was a homage to the machine on Altair 4 wasn't it? Among other references (like the 'human race in a million years' line).
Points one direction “Twenty miles.” Points other direction “Twenty miles.”
Except the old 1950s glass mattes, models and animation blow the doors off this early CGI

I don't know how you think I can help you with this other than recommend buying the DVD box set like I did. The only free way I can think of is to download it with a Bittorrent client. Of course that's technically illegal in most countries.
The aliens who approached Epsilon III must've been brainless to approach the planet after being warned not to do so under penalty of death.
Just be glad no one else tried to. Drall has a temper that's exterme even frightening for Mimbari. But impressive to a New Yorker.
