  • [At 0.25 the name Kaeya coming from the Tamil language seems to be incorrect and actually comes from the Hindi language meaning "monsoon festival" as pointed out by Kavinth in the comments. Hopefully we can change the wikia to correct this. Also at 0.19 Kaeya is the Cavalry Captain, not chivalry, missed that while editing sorry!]
This video contains spoilers for the Genshin Impact manga as well as speculation on Kaeya's origins and future. If you haven't read the manga I'd suggest giving it a read before watching this video, it's really good.
In this video we'll be looking into Kaeya's lore and story, his personality and the relationships he has with the few people he has gotten close to. He's a mysterious one and a lot of the information on him is veiled until we progress in the story. I hope he's involved in the meeting with the Abyss Herald.
I hope you enjoy the video.

Which side do you think Kaeya will choose? Mondstadt or Khaenri'ah?

I assume he will change sides for at least some amount of time throughout the game, but ultimately choose Mondstadt! I fear there will be some kind of 'truth' that he'll and the rest learn, which will cause him to question his loyality all over again.

I’d honestly prefer him choose khaenri’ah over mondstadt, i’d hate for him to remain in diluc’s shadow for the entirety of the plot. It just seems more satisfying if he wouldn’t choose mondstadt twice and instead go against them

    • @MiharuNana-san

I think Kaeya would always want to choose and stay loyal to Mondstadt. But for story purposes, something will come along that will force him to side with Khaenri'ah.

Looking back at kaeya’s story quest, he made claims about his grandfather having “treasure” (which he claimed to be a pirate, another lie). This “treasure” turned out to be a sword, which may or may not foreshadow something related to the “sword” or dainsleif in this case. It doesn’t make it any better that alberich, the “king of supernatural beings”, was a dwarf and Dainsleif (the sword) was made by a dwarven craftsman, Dain. It all seems to align too well. It might seem far fetched but it’s an interesting thought.

      @dainsloaf9261 Před 3 lety +63

Wow this is epic! O.O you are on something!
It's really possible, since King Alberich indeed a dwarft that guards the treasure of royal family. That treasure could be a sword.
I am confused about this. Dainsleif is thd name of the sword. It's created by Dain, and he serves King Hogni in Germanic legend.
Do you think Dainsleif is a real sword that can take the form of human..? Or he is a royal guard of King of Khaenriah?
What makes me think he is a sword?
      1. His name.
      2. It make sense he is immortal. He couldn't die unless broken. That's how he survived since the day of Khaenriah.
      3. He doesn't have a vision. A magical sword doesn't need a vision to use magical powers.
      4. It also explains he used to have a traveling partner. That partner could be his master. (A sword usually needs a master to be used)
What makes me think he is a royal guard?
      1. A sword could mean he is a knight.
      2. His named is based on a sword that served a king, so he possibly work directly under a king. Possibily a royal knight.
      3. He has a high class taste when it comes to drinks, he even mix his own drinks, as mentioned by Diluc. Quite possibly he is someone of great status.
      4. He looks like a noble.

I doubt the cryo users are the ones to face the worst reality...Kaeya got his vision by being honest and feeling free because of it, even though he ended up in a fight with Diluc. It was a positive experience to him. Chongyun didnt seem to have a horrible reality, sure he may have had a bit of a boring life due to his condition but its hardly the worst reality. Nor does fighting for love or duty match in either...Qiqi sure didnt fight for anything, she just desired to freeze time so she could be with her loved ones again. Im starting to think there just isnt one criteria that all vision holders have to fufill... Maybe its just people the tsaritsa find interesting...

I am actually very excited with the plot. I am assuming dainsleif is a celestial being and intends to eradicate the abyss order and since he is a celestial being it is highly likely that he will be an enemy to tsarita and harbingers. Can you imagine what if they make multiple endings to this game, you either side with celestial beings and dainsleif. Side with tsarita and harbingers and discover their cause and history as to why they revolt, Or understand the purpose of your sister and her army of monsters. Each has an ending and consequences to go with it. But the bottom line here is......who is the evil one. Is it dainsleif? Are the harbingers one of those villains in movies that actually have a point? Will you understand your sister on why she does what she does? So many questions that need answers.

  • @englishbreakfastisrllygood1908

i think the reason Kaeya likes putting people in situations where they have to make tough decisions is bc he wants to know how people make their decisions and why. most likely bc he’s battling with decision himself, and is secretly seeking guidance from others so he can finally make up his mind.

Hmm if you have info on Diluc around this that be interesting. I’m a semi new player but recently hit AR50 but kinda like to geek the story and theories. Like does anyone know why Diluc is so against the Knights of Favonius, is also aware of Keaya possible betrayal. Is Diluc related to Vanessa because of the red hair connection? But Vanessa is maybe a dwarf, who I’ve heard is still out travelling but then in the manga I’m aware she’s ascended into celestia so won’t ever be coming back for Klee?
Sorry million questions. Future content ;)

@@Cloud-df3hy Oh yeah he's probably my favourite character.
Diluc is against the Knights because after his father Crepus defeated Ursa the Drake using a Delusion, the Grand Master at the time would not allow him to be recognised as having done so and told the people that it was the Knights who did it. He even mockingly says that if Crepus hadn't died, they would have finally let him join the Knights.
      genshin.mihoyo.com/en/manga/detail/574?mute=1
Diluc may be related to the Muratan tribe Vannessa is from but there isn't a clear familial connection between the two that I'm aware of right now. Haha I don't think Vannessa is a dwarf, she's been turned into a hawk that watches over Mondstadt after she ascended to Celestia.
Klee's mother is Alice and another character entirely. She seems to be from our world as she tells Barbara about Idols in magazines and has knowledge of things not native to Teyvat.

This one is really a msytery.
      1. We don't know the details of Kaeya's mission.
      2. Everyone assume Kaeya will destroy Monstadt because his story mentioned:
" If Khaenri'ah and Mondstadt went to war, which side should he support? To whom should he offer his assistance: his birth father, who had ruthlessly abandoned him? Or his adoptive father, who loved him and raised him?"
Kaeya's mission is not to destroy Mondstadt. He is placed there as an agent.
The one who will wage war is probably his father, but there are possibilities that Kaeya will be forced by his birth father to side with Khaenriah.
      3. I believe Diluc is not cool with it. Diluc is a very upright person, if he see Kaeya's motives doesn't align with his (We all know Diluc loves Mondstadt the most), he would already report Kaeya long ago.
The thing is, he doesn't do that.
So I think Kaeya's mission has nothing to do with betraying everyone.

One thing I find interesting is how in Klee's story quest Kaeya writes a survival guide for her and the writing is so messy the Traveler wonders if it's really Kaeya's handwriting. But while everyone is looking at the poem Kaeya wrote in hilichurlan, no one makes a comment like that at all. This indicates that Kaeya's Mondstatian writing is bad but he is a lot better at writing in Hilichurlan which makes me think Hilichurlan really is the language of Khaenri'ah and Kaeya learned it well when he was growing up in Khaenri'ah. He probably taught himself how to write in Mondstatian because he didn't know how and so no one knew he couldn't write Mondstatian because it would be suspicious. Because he taught himself, his writing in Mondstatian is sloppy whereas his Khaenri'an writing is good because people taught him. I know Kaeya only wrote a single sentence in Khaenri'an and could have still forgotten much of the language of his youth, but he does still remember some and that indicates that Kaeya has been writing in Khaenri'an after his father abandoned him.

Here's something i’ve noticed about eyes and eyepatches:
    - kaeya’s namecard suggests that the peacock (kaeya) is not missing an eye
    - kaeya’s constellation shows the peacock’s right eye: the eye that is covered with an eyepatch
    - his c1 “excellent blood” corresponds to that eye
in norse mythology, odin, the god king of asgard, sacrificed his eye in order to see everything that happens in the world, or in other words, gain enhanced perception.
fischl is also said to be a reference to odin due to her eyepatch and raven, through which she “sees the world”
fischl summons power from the eye that she keeps hidden. perhaps she is not the only one who does this.
in her case, she gets this power from her vision, but since people in khaenri’ah don’t have visions (kaeya got his while in mondstadt) their source of power seems more eerie.
in other words, it’s possible that
    1) kaeya hides a certain (perhaps evil?) power behind his eyepatch
    2) hiding this eye somehow gives him the ability to “see”
kaeya literally has a talent called hidden strength so he’s definitely not at 100% of his power level.

Have a read of Legend of the Shattered Halberd if you haven't already as that's got some great connections you might find interesting (main character of the story is named Mir Mi which seemed an obvious nod to Mimir to me).

I love to theorize and love simping for Kaeya, so here's my take!
I'd like to add more to what you mentioned about peacock feathers. Peacocks mean a lot, as they hold a lot of symbolism in many cultures and religions.
..."nobility, guidance, holiness, watchfulness, and protection."
"self-confidence, self-esteem, dignity, refinement, knowledge, sexuality, pride, and beauty."
"the peacock is a sign of rebirth, renewal, and rejuvenation. It stands for immortality."
I'd like to point out a few key words: nobility, protection, self-confidence, self-esteem, knowledge, rebirth and immortality.
Nobility: The theory of Kaeya being the Prince of Khanre'iahhas been getting pretty popular, and is gaining more significance due to Kaeya's screentime as of late. There's a lot of reasons to back that up.
    - Kaeya's voiceline of Fischl. He mentions her eyepatch and mentions her status of "princess." The last sentence I think really impacts it the most, is, "royal progeny."
    - Jean's mentioned to the Traveler she'd talk to us about the "King of Khanre'iah. Although Kaeya isn't mentioned here, it does imply that there is royalty.
    - (Take this with a grain of salt, because I haven't spoken to this NPC in a while) Vile, an NPC in Mondstadt, tells us that she calls Kaeya "Prince Charming" and I THINK Kaeya tells her to not call him that.
Protection: What you said about how Kaeya could possibly be trying to protect the ones he loves seems very possible. Kaeya has not revealed much, or at least revealed vague descriptions of his past. It could either be he simply doesn't want to recall the past (which is very possible, since Mona's voiceline said that he made a clean break with his past) or that he is protecting the people he knows, by not revealing information.
Self-confidence and self-esteem: Kaeya's a pretty laid-back and confidant guy, who's always got the upper hand and he knows it. He's slick with the tongue and he is able to gain information out of people with his smooth-talk. He holds himself higher than others, and it shows. Personally, I think, it's actually quite possible he's like this, is because himself has witnessed and faced absolute agony, that he deserves worthiness.
Knowledge: Kaeya is said to be the "brains of the group." I mean, he landed himself as Calvary Captain in the Knights of Favonious, which is pretty significant. He's smart cookie. He also managed to orchestrate the whole quest of his fake pirate story and a fake sword, just to arrest some thief. But it isn't only intelligence that makes him whole, it's what he knows. Khanre'iah.
Rebirth: For Kaeya, I connect "rebirth" as in Kaeya being reborn as a new person-- a Mondstadian. From Mona's voiceline that tells us that Kaeya has made a break from his past, I feel that this contributes to being reborn.
Immortality: In Bough Keeper, Dainsleif's mentioned Old Monstadt, which was 500 years ago. I believe he specifically said how Old Monstadt is different from the current one today. It always made me wonder how Dain is able to recognize that. That's when I began thinking that Dain could be immortal. And that may also contribute to Kaeya. However, I don't think Kaeya is immortal, as in the comic, he is seen as a child. I think immortality simply contributes to Kaeya and his background. Those who were plagued in Khanre'iah were transformed into monsters (the hilichurls we see today). It isn't confirmed, but I think the monsters are immortal. It also contributes to Dainsleif's arm. If you remember, it's all black and blue, and not human-like. I think Dainsleif could be part monster, and that's allowed him to live forever. Since I don't think Kaeya's immortal, I don't think he was ever plagued like Dainsleif. I think what hides under his eyepatch, could be a mark only royalty has, if the Prince of Khanre'iah theory holds up. Appearence-wise, I still don't know what it could look like, but I do know that it's some mark that only his lineage could have.
Random notes and theories (some spoilers):
I think why Kaeya takes pleasure in seeing people make hard choices, and have to experience fear and pain, is because he himself has experienced the worst pain and fear, or simply experienced a lot of pain and fear, that it can't compete to their own agony.
Also, Kaeya can speak Hilichurlian. That's obviously a sign. It makes me wonder how many of his own people he's killed. If he can understand Hilichurlian, he probably understands the agony they feel. Which makes it more heartbreaking, knowing he has to kill them.
I also have a thought that Crepus wasn't the man we thought him to be. As in, he could've actually been a bad guy. But I wouldn't consider him evil, but I think he has the right goals, but has questionable decisions. It's a stretch, but Crepus could have been a Harbinger to obtain that Vision and operate it. Take this with a grain of salt, but someone told me that Khanre'iah tried making Visions, but that backfired. If this was true, it's possible the Khanre'iahns were later forced to make Delusions by the Abyss Order, or the Fatui, and one just so happened to fall into Crepus' hands. Lowkey hope this theory won't be real, because I love Crepus to death
I feel that Kaeya's father may have been plagued, and was going to become a monster (a hilichurl). So, to save Kaeya from this grief, he'd tell him he'd get some grape juice. And of course, he never came back.
For Kaeya's talents, one of them was changed from "Heart of the Abyss" to "Glacial Heart" instead. That talent was for his decrease in stamina consumption.
It's not confirmed if Khanre'iah IS the Abyss, or if they are separate. I honestly side with both.
Abyss Mages (especially cryo) Kaeya have a lot in common.
    - Have icicles that circle around them
    - Have that fur on them
    - Intelligent (abyss mages > hilichurls, Kaeya > other people)
    - Can teleport
I had a theory that the Hilichurlian language was actually Khanre'iahn's language. But since it's so outdated and almost no one ever used it anymore, everyone forgot about it (and also Khanre'iah's seclusion to society, rarely anyone contacted any Khan'reiahns at all). Glad to see someone had this theory as well haha
When Mona mentioned in the voiceline, of "greatness and grandeur," it might mean his ascension to the throne (if the Prince of Khanre'iah theory is correct). It's possible that since he is the heir to the throne, he would need to take reigns of his kingdom, Khanre'iah. However, since he has sided with Mondstadt his entire life, he is truly in a position of difficult.
Kaeya's clothing holds a lot of significance
    - Stars. So. Many. Stars.
    - The fur on his shoulder, similar to Cryo Abyss Mages
    - Someone mentioned the cuffs on his ankle and wrists. They said something about him being a prisoner, or that he was restrained to prevent him from escaping.
    - The sleeves he has. Look at the ends of them. They look quite similar to Paimon and Dainsleif's clothing, which have that thing on it.

      ---
That was a detailed analysis and I find myself agreeing with a lot of your conclusions. The part about Dainsleif's monstrous arm granting him immortality wasn't something I'd considered but makes sense if the Abyss Mage Landrich was once human and is now over 1000 years old. Makes me wonder if the "sinners" of Khaenri'ah may have purposely infected themselves to gain this immortality even at the cost of their own humanity.

I'm not sure Crepus was a Harbinger and likely just used his wealth and influence to obtain the Delusion through the black market. He seems to not be a very good fighter due to him not being able to join the ranks of the Knights of Favonius and feeling unworthy because of it but it would be an interesting twist and make his character a lot deeper than he is now.
Khaenri'ah creating Delusions would be quite interesting as the Tsaritsa seems to have continued this for her Fatui, perhaps she gained the knowledge of how to make them from someone in Khaenri'ah.
Kaeya's father isn't actually someone I'd thought much about other than his leaving Kaeya in Mondstadt but I wonder what happened to him after that. If he was turning into a monster then it'd make sense that Kaeya would be his last hope as his father would be unable to carry out whatever task he was previously working on. I have a feeling Kaeya will see him again at some point in the future, in one form or another.

So it’s probably a decent connection to “the King’s Eye” from the bible where in a treaty the people are told to either gouge out their right eye and live in peace yet shame under foreign power or die opposing. This is one great video! Thank you for sharing it with us! :)
Now, Kaeya is one of the characters I have a soft spot for (he is actually my favorite) due to both his backstory and the fact that he is so misunderstood (another long discussion) and often painted as the "bad guy", while Diluc is labeled the "good guy" (don't get me wrong, I love Diluc as well and if there is one thing I wanna see, that is a reconciliation between these two). While Kaeya is shady and probably has ulterior motives I don't doubt that he is a decent person. He had every chance to betray Mond after Diluc's departure and the destruction of their relationship as there was nothing tieing him there anymore but he did not. He stayed behind and served - still serves - as a protector of Mondstadt. Also, if Diluc thought him a true threat to the safety of Mond, he wouldn't have kept his secret or allowed him to stay in town.
He has the vibe of the character that will commit some kind of treason only for us to later learn that he did it/was some kind of double agent in order to save the people he holds close. So yes, I do believe that he will side with Khaenri'ah (perhaps even the Abyss order, who knows?) for a time. Will he do it to protect Mondstadt? Absolutely, there is no doubt in my mind about that.
It is also worth pointing out that the Japanese version of his name is "Gaia". It sounds and looks very, very similar to Gaia (also written Gaea), the Ancient Greek Goddess of Earth, one of the primordial elemental deities, the great mother of all creation.
I saw the clips from Festive Anecdotes so I assume you've played the new quest (take note people, that from this moment forward my comment will contain spoilers so if you do not wish to be spoiled, I suggest you cease reading) and therefore you know of the love poem. The "Mi muhe ye" that Kaeya wrote does not mean "I love you". It actually means "I triumph over you" and it comes from a song the Hilichurls chant before diving into battle. I see a lot of people saying that Kaeya is threatening Venti which I think is absolutely ridiculous. Instead, this admittedly strange event leads me to think of these scenarios:
    1) Kaeya has his suspicions (in the game, there has been no canonical mention of him knowing) about Venti being Barbatos - if he doesn't already know - and is trying to confirm those suspicions while letting Venti know that he is aware of his secret.
    2) Kaeya was trying to warn Venti about something, most likely related to the upcoming main story quest. Kaeya has connections to all kinds of people throughout Teyvat. It is possible that something may have reached his ears, and he's trying to warn our dear bard. I'm almost positive that Kaeya and Venti's relationship isn't what it looks like. They know a lot more about each other than they let on. Venti was there when Khaenri'ah fell, he knows what happened and he certainly knows Kaeya is Khaenri'ahn.
    3)
It was really nothing and simply Kaeya trying to one-up Traveller again. Honestly, I find this highly unlikely because so far, everything the characters have done has contributed to the story in one way or another, directly or otherwise.
    4) Also, consider this. What if Venti was trying to warn Kaeya about something? Kaeya bolted from the room right after the poem was read, saying that he saw "someone suspicious". However, he was with his back to the window and the change in his mood was a bit too sudden. It was later revealed that the "suspicious person" was Rosaria but wouldn't Kaeya recognize Rosaria in broad daylight? They are good friends and confidants after all. We really don't know what the relationship between these two truly is like. What if Kaeya has known for a while now that Venti is Barbatos? What if he and Venti have been "working" together to protect Mond? What if Kaeya is looking for ways to protect his chosen family in Mond in secret so as not to blow his cover and cause trouble with the people from Khaenri'ah that expect him to betray Mond? Wouldn't surprise me.
    5) But there's a fifth option too. Kaeya, a genius, smooth talker - Venti himself calls him that - suddenly wants to learn how to write love poems. He is the one to suggest that the students do homework for Venti to review later. Then, we have Rosaria who seems to appear out of nowhere and knowing all about a personal letter to Barbara. And last but not least, we have Jean and Lisa out on patrol. Seems a bit weird, doesn't it? What if they have caught wind of something and are trying to keep Venti occupied to protect him? We all know what happened last time: La Signora stole his Gnosis. Rosaria sent them out of the city to look for the person who wrote Barbara's letter. Seems like they wanted him out of the city, no? What if they are stalling him with seemingly meaningless tasks like checking the homework of random people and sending him outside of town to keep him away from a potential threat?
So yes, Kaeya is shrouded in darkness, and in my humble opinion, will betray Mondstandt for a time, only for us to later learn that he did it to save the ones he loves. Which is where his relationship with Diluc will come into play and at the forefront.
Of course, this is just speculation based on the scraps of information we have and I could be criminally wrong. However, as much of a stretch as this might seem, I find it really interesting to think about! :)
If you're reading this, kudos! You made it to the end of my little rambling episode! Have a lovely day! XD

Very well thought-out and I've speculated his pretending to side with Khaenri'ah when he secretly is doing so to find information on Mondstadt in the comments today so I think we're of similar minds on a lot of your points.
The Venti speculation isn't something I'd considered though and from the trailer for 1.4 we see one of his statues of the Seven chained up and upside down behind the Abyss Herald so they could be after him. I imagine Venti knows about Kaeya's origins and Kaeya at least has his suspicions of Venti's true nature so I can see them helping each other out in subtle ways we may have missed. Jean and Lisa on patrol does seem a little strange and us knowing we'll encounter an Abyss Herald soon could certainly mean they've caught wind of it, it'd flow quite nicely if it was at the end of this event to lead up to the new quest too.
I was going to go over Collei's infection with the archon residue in this video but went off on a tangent that'd make this video not really Kaeya centric so I've saved it for another. Makes me wonder if the statue of Barbatos is being used to collect this archon residue and whether it affects him or just his gnosis though. Thought-provoking stuff!

    • @decknamen4948
      @decknamen4948 Před 3 lety +20

@@TheLaughingManLore Thank you! Yes, the fact that it was the Anemo Statue of the Seven that was chained upside down is very telling, I think. That purple residue is clearly linked to the Abyss as we saw in the "Bough Keeper" quest and even Abyss Mages we encounter in the game seem to have purple symbols floating around them. With his Gnosis stolen, Barbatos is weakened, and therefore a prime target for anyone wishing to weaken Mondstadt, which currently houses some of the Abyss Order's greatest adversaries. I would be willing to bet that Kaeya and Rosaria being at Angel's Share with Diluc, three of Mondstadt's most dedicated protectors, was no coincidence or friendly outing at all. It just feels a bit strange, though I could be reading too much into it (I doubt it, if Honkai Impact is anything to go by, MiHoYo simply adore foreshadowing and dramatic plot twists). Some people might not notice (though I believe most do, especially those interested in the lore) but this event is a goldmine of hints and clues.
Collei's infection is a whole other matter on its own. Very, very interesting and shows to what lengths these characters would go to protect Mondstadt, and the citizens. I'm somewhat surprised it took this long for Kaeya to become a bit more relevant to the game's story considering he is literally the MC of the manga. After all, the Tsaritsa, who presides over Cryo, is the Archon of Love. We just have to wait until the main story quest drops to find out more and until MiHoyo decide to become a bit more forward with their clues. Don't quote me on this, as I'm not 100% sure, but I think Abyssal energy does affect Archons, though we don't know to what extent. Venti no longer has a Gnosis so he is not technically an Archon so it might not even affect him at all.
      Thought-provoking stuff indeed!

      @TheLaughingManLore  Před 3 lety +5

@@decknamen4948 I think you're probably right about the foreshadowing, there's been quite a few things already in-game that were hinted at a while ago and seemed innocuous that were later revealed to be relevant to the plot. Their track record with Honkai as you say is very similar so they're probably really good at being subtle with these sorts of things now too. You've gotten me more excited for the upcoming story with all these little hints dotted around.
Kaeya taking so long to be more relevant is likely due to the sheer amount of characters there are in-game I think, we've had the Mondstadt introduction and the Liyue one so now we're back to Mond, things are getting a little more serious/focused. Btw where does it say the Cryo Archon is the Archon of Love? I've read it a few times but haven't actually seen it written anywhere in the lore. Not disputing it but if there's something I've not read, I'd like to read it haha.
I wonder if it twists the archons powers somehow as it removes them and that's where the archon residue is created. Though I'm sure the Tsaritsa is said to be against the Abyss, she sure uses a lot of things that seem to be linked with it (delusions and the archon residue experiments).

XD I am super excited as well! So many interesting connections and theories to consider! MiHoYo may not be a perfect company and the way they deal with player feedback leaves a lot to be desired, but they sure know how to write and tell a story.
You're probably right about the number of characters. After all, the Liyue and Archaic Lord arcs had to happen for the game to shift its attention to more "main plotline" material. As for the Archon of Love thing, it hasn't been stated outright, but we know that among the Seven Archons, there is one who represents love. We know from canon that Barbatos is the God of Freedom, Rex Lapis is the God of Contracts, Baal is the Goddess of Eternity, the Dendro Archon is the God of Wisdom (I don't recall a name mentioned anywhere so far), the Hydro Archon is the Goddess of Justice, and Murata is the Goddess of Pyro and War, which leaves the Traritsa as the Goddess of Cryo and Love. It is also very interesting how much emphasis is put on love when talking about the Tsaritsa. For example, one of the first tidbits of info we learn about her is that "she is a god with no love left for her people, nor do they have any left for her. Her followers hope only to be on her side when the day of her rebellion against the Divine comes at last." Very interesting are theTsaritsa's words from the trailer: ""Forgive me....to also have you shoulder the grievances of the world. since you could endure my bitter cold, you must have the desire to burn. Then burn away the old world for me."
That's an interesting thought! That makes me wonder if it twists the Archons' power as well. Would this twisted power serve as a "poison" to the Archon themselves? I also do wonder how this energy would affect the connected web of ley lines all around Teyvat. The Tsaritsa wishes to wage war against the Divine, which is why she's collecting the Gnoses of the other Archons - apparently, Zhongli agrees though we don't know to what extent yet - so it's pretty obvious she's willing to use any means necessary, included Abyssal powers. I wonder if her desire for rebellion was sparked by what happened to the people of Khaenri'ah and the old Dynasty. Honestly, she's one of the characters I can't wait to learn more about. And I bet she's not the "bad guy" most people seem to think she is. I would not be surprised if she turns out to be some sort of hero, "the cause justifies the means" type.

@@decknamen4948 I've been shocked by the game on a lot of fronts but the plotline and lore that's hidden away is probably my favourite too, there's nothing better than an engaging story. Yeah they're definitely not perfect but you can tell they've got a lot of people working on the game who are passionate about it and care about what they're making.
Ahh that makes sense then, thanks for clarifying it for me.
That was a strange line from Dain wasn't it? Tartaglia seems to think she's too soft/loving so it seems the two of them disagree. Maybe it's a sort of tough love she has to embody though, doing so for a greater good like freeing humanity from the control Celestia has over them but in the short-term it likely causing wars and snapping people out of a blissfully ignorant state they've gotten used to.
I definitely think it could act as a poison, it might even be what the abyssal infection is - corrupted archon/celestial energy and we know that affected both Dvalin and Venti in the past. I've read somewhere that the leylines are blocked atm and the most likely contender for being able to do that is the Abyssal infection. There's some Norse lore about a dragon named Nidhogg under Yggdrasil that secretes a poison at the roots of the tree that sounds a lot like the Abyssal infection. I go into it a little in my Dainsleif video.
Nobody seems to like the Divine haha, Venti and Zhongli had a very "meh" attitude to losing one of the most powerful items we know of in the game to the Tsaritsa so it does seem like they're unspoken allies or at least more on her side than Celstia's. I think the destruction of Khaenri'ah and the Dendro Archon being killed was likely the cause for her rebelling, if she is the god of love then it would've affected her the most out of all the other archons. Could even be that she had a thing with the Dendro Archon and Celestia were the ones to kill him or were the cause of his death indirectly.
I've got a feeling you're right on that, I can even imagine her sacrificing herself to defeat Celestia for humanity but tbh I think that about a lot of characters because I know Mihoyo loves a good tragedy haha. I hope I'm wrong.

And if so what timeline do they live in, and how did tue book get outside of Khaenri'ah? Because Khaneri'ah is some-sort of futuristic country according to what I heard and things might not get in and out of it so easily. A part of me feels like Kaeya has the choice to betray Mondstadt but he probably doesn't want to due to how he practically grew up there and though he's not in good terms with his new family, he still has them with him. The fact Diluc knows too, builds some sort of wall of trust between the characters while also bringing tension bc there is always that slight chance Kaeya could betray Mondstadt and its people. The question is, if Kaeya does choose to betray everyone, would it be on his own terms or would he be forced to? By either someone stronger or maybe he would be forced to take matters into his own hands. If the game does take that turn, he strikes me as the "to defeat evil, I must become a greater evil" type of knight.

And then I thought what if it's not actually 500 years but 500 years in Khaenri'ahn time?
I did a little bit of math, converting 500 years to months to know how many days it would be if converted to Teyvat time. Since 3 months there equals to 3 days in Teyvat, 6000 months = 6000 days. Then multiply it to 365 (I assume that their calendar is just the same as ours so I could be wrong) and you get around 16 years in Teyvat. Assuming that Kaeya is around 22 years old present day (the age can be changed) he must be 6 years old when Khaenri'ah was destroyed. I don't know how many years later he was dropped off to mondstadt though.
But then again I might get disproven in the future. I'm wondering if you age fast in Khaenri'ah or time just files by fast there. I'm not sure about my calculations too.

    • @TheLaughingManLore
      @TheLaughingManLore  Před 3 lety +4

Thats something I've wondered myself as we hear about the 3 months equalling 3 days for Childe in the Abyss but Dain also says Venti being gone for 1000 years was only half that time for him. I wonder if Khaenri'ah has a less severe case of time dilation or if Dain was even in Khaenri'ah specifically or the Abyss in general during Venti's absence.
Kaeya being around 6 when Khaenri'ah fell does make sense to me though as he'd be at an age where he doesn't really know what's going on exactly but old enough to be given some simple instructions from his father. I think most theories we make right now will probably be disproven in the future but yours makes sense so I'd be happy with it until we get some more concrete information that could say otherwise.
The aging thing is a hard one to figure out isn't it, especially with Dain being immortal and Rhinedottir seeming to be over 500 years old in regular Teyvat time and so probably having a greatly extended lifespan. I can't really make my mind up either way haha, I have a feeling that Childe only aged 3 days as opposed to 3 months but it's a short enough timeframe where maybe his parents wouldn't have noticed him aging by 3 months anyway.
I'm not gonna get my hopes up but with the Irminsul fruits coming in the Energy Amplifier event, we might get some little hints about the Abyss that could help us figure this sort of stuff out. Appreciate you sharing your thoughts Kaeya!

i just hate it when people sympathize diluc so much when
    - kaeya watched his nation being destroyed
    - kaeya's dad abandoned him by will when he was just around 10 yrs old while dilucs dad died saving his son
    - kaeya witness the father who loved him like his own die, and kaeya could do nothing about it
    - kaeya lives with fear of somebody finding out his secret, and the guilt of not coming clean to the people who accepted and loved him so much
i mean kaeya has been through so much, he just hides it behind laughs and smirks while diluc is openly grumpy

Acctually, if you do the photo glitch on his eyepatch, you can see his eye looks like fallen khaenri'ah (black, with orange-like squares, circles, his pupil stays tho) , that might be just MiHoyo's laziness but, they'd probably first finish the whole model before modeling additional details.
Also, his abyss-like fur cape on his shoulder, the same one abyss mages have.

I stand by the storyline of Khaenri'ah and as it pertains to Kaeya, Dainsleif, and Albedo to be the main reason I'm so into Genshin.... I'd like to think that Kaeya is the Prince of Khaenri'ah and will pull a Loki on us at least once, where he double crosses both the Abyss and Mondstadt. He's such an interesting and well-planned morally grey character that easily fits into either side, and that's why he's my favorite! I can't wait to delve further into the lore of Khaenri'ah

I've already commented on this video 3 weeks ago but I wanted to share my research combined with other peoples' information-
Kaeya's fourth talent used to be called "Heart of the Abyss", most people in the community know that.
Kaeya's voiceline of Fischl was also a bit suspicious to me, he said that he was also somehow a "royal progeny" because of Fischl having an eyepatch and being a princess, just like Kaeya having an eyepatch as well, but on his right eye.
In the Reunited quest, The Traveler or Paimon joked about Dainsleif being a 'relative' because Katheryne said that Dainsleif had exotic clothes and an eyepatch.
I've heard about this theory from a different person, but they found one of Kaeya's elemental burst voicelines suspicious. And the voiceline was "This moment will be frozen in time!". They thought it was suspicious because there was another theory that Dainsleif had an ability called "Chrono". And they thought that voiceline had something to do with Dainsleif's power. Wanted to share this voiceline theory.
Kaeya's japanese va said himself that Kaeya was more important than we think, and to look out on him, that might mean mihoyo's preparing something big for Kaeya most likely in the Khaenri'ah arc.
Mona's voiceline also might mean Kaeya would have to devide between Mondtadt or Khaenri'ah.
Wanted to share my thoughts, thank you if you notice this comment! Let's hope we all make it to the Khaenri'ah arc! ♡︎

  • @9990zara
    @9990zara Před 2 lety +6

I think it's worth noting that the character stories seem to contradict each other in small details. In Kaeya's character story 5, it says that at the moment of Crepus' death, "Sinister thoughts flashed through Kaeya's mind, and he simply smirked", while in his vision story it says about the same moment "that ancient plot [was] running through his mind", and talks of him feeling consumed with guilt. It's hard to picture him smirking reading only the vision story. Also, the manga shows him looking shocked/horrified at the scene, certainly not smirking. But story 5 cannot be ignored, either. Which is the truth? Perhaps he smirked afterwards or something??
It's also worth mentioning that in Diluc's story 3 it says "Crepus died shortly after in his son's arms", while in Kaeya's vision story it says "To set his father free from the unbearable agony, Diluc Ragnvindr took his life". Again, which is the truth? Is Diluc's story sugarcoating it, or perhaps this point to an error in Kaeya's perception of that day's events? If Diluc did kill Crepus it seems like it would have been a significant moment in his life, no?
Small contradictions, but contradictions nonetheless. It's been bugging me for a while, so I'd love to hear anyone's thoughts or clarifications in case it's just mistranslations or something lol.

    • @TheLaughingManLore
      @TheLaughingManLore  Před 2 lety +5

I noticed those contradictions too, the one that stood out the most was the Diluc killing his father as it doesn't seem to fit with what we saw.
Haven't really got any great ideas about it unfortunately but I suppose they could fill in the little moments we don't see - perhaps as you said Kaeya smiled off-panel and possibly Diluc had to put his father out of his misery off-panel too as it might've been too graphic to depict.
