    Here's a "making of" tutorial of my Epic Orchestral Trailer track: "The Landing"!
    In this video, I explain everything from how I went to create the track, to all the libraries I used.
    It's a bit sketchy since it's the first tutorial I ever made, but whatever. If you're a producer / composer, I hope this will be useful for you. :D

    The tutorial is very in-depth and detailed, thank you for this "dissection" of the track, it was very helpful. One thing I'd like to see different in your future tutorials is that you avoid repeating words when you talk, or stuttering while you talk because it makes it really hard to follow the music. If you play a section, try not to talk over it or if you do, try increasing the volume of the track and lowering the volume of your microphone.

    Ahm, Alex, I don't know if had read my last question with different kontakt on different patterns, I waited quite a long period of time for your answer, until I almost..., ahm, I almost had to give up using FL Studio and try other DAW. Well, I really tried one of those DAWs trial versions, but it annoyed me a lot with this elicenser stuff. Until I decided to analyze your "The Landing" and keep asking myself "How did he do that?" (almost like in 17:33, 18:35, 19:17 and so on) and tried to figure it out on my own. Now, dated May 22, 2017, I decided to make some trial and error on my DAW, and finally I found one of the basic answer to my own question. Now I can make my music without confusing on over lapping (found in 13:38) strings. Now, I still had to figure out on how did you separate those (like in 17:33, 18:35, 19:17 and so on), that you group them individually and make those colorful segregation in mixer.
    Your "The Landing" inspires me a lot to pursue my desire to create my own music, but it is a long way for me to make it not that perfect but exactly almost perfect. I just started last March 2017, listening your music and some orchestration music that can be seen and heard here in CZcams.
    Thank you very much Alex, you are my icon. Even though we are thousand miles away, you are a great help to me.

    Do you prepare all your FL Studio plugins by hand in the Channel rack, or when you're about to create a masterpiece do you just open up a FL Studio file that has the Channel Rack already layed out with Names and colors for you etc?(Cello - SUS, Viola - SUS, Horn - SUS etc...) Same with the view playlist. :D

    • @AlexMoukala
      @AlexMoukala  Před 8 lety

      Sometimes I do, after I was done writing this track, I saved the template with all the instruments loaded and the channel names/colors already set.
      Although, for the most part, I use a blank slate template with lots of empty MIDI tracks and about 8 Kontakt Instances, and I build upon it as I write the track.
      I like the second approach better than the first 'cause it's less limiting, but starting from a completely defined template like in the first approach can help your workflow in terms of speed.

    • @marcusfranzen1255

      Open the FL Browser (Alt + F8) -> go on Current Project -> Patterns -> Select the pattern with the curves, and it'll show you the names of all the curves drawn into it. Click on one, and it'll open up the curve graph. There you can delete it or cut it with Ctrl+X .

    • @hamzah6106
      @hamzah6106 Před 7 lety +1

      I am really new in this stuff, and same as you, I had no background in music lessons. The funny thing is, before, the known instrument to are guitar, piano, e-guitar, bass guitar, violin and drums, as I slowly explore this stuff, I found out that aside from those I mention, there are still a lot more instruments I never knew that exist, also I had learn about those alto,soprano, tenor, bass, a very much thank you about this, you open my interest in music instruments and music itself, you are really a big inspiration to the beginners like me who is new in music composition using FL Studio or any such things of music compositor programs, as of the moment, I slowly explore those libraries, but I am quite in focus on routing Kontakt in FL Studio, because I still have a little bit difficulty in routing it, especially when using different pattern but using single kontakt library.

    • @AlexMoukala
      @AlexMoukala  Před 6 lety +1

      It depends on what version you use. FL Studio 64 Bit can take way more than 6GBs of RAM usage.
      Also, stutters are often caused by the CPU, RAM has nothing to do with those.
      Increasing your CPU power will bring a better performance overall, but also optimizing CPU usage as I explain in this video helps: czcams.com/video/oUPtl5tYzGk/video.html

    I don't use so many instruments in my songs, does that mean I'm a bad composer? :(

    • @AlexMoukala
      @AlexMoukala  Před 8 lety

      Absolutely not. Infact, I'd argue that if you're able to write awesome tracks by using a little amount of instruments, it's a sign you're quite good.
      The degree of orchestration and instrument amount also depends on how complex the arrangement is though, this song here is quite long, and has quite a few parts that are very different between each other! If you check my other tracks, you'll notice I didn't use as many instruments there.

    • @80sForever29

      +Alex Moukala I was wondering, I started composing some weeks ago, I already made some tracks, though I don't knoe anything about music. Do you have any advice for me?

      +Quiel Evolution Gameplays Try to base your composition on learning new stuff as you go!
      Say, for example, if you're not good at writing chord progressions, watch tutorials or read articles specifically about them. Then apply that knowledge to write a track which's main goal is to have killer chord progressions.
      Study & apply right after, then rinse and repeat for anything you want to learn!

    You should always play through the track first.

      You're right! Will keep that in mind for the next time.
      Although, as I mention around the very first minute, the link to the track playthrough is in the description of the video. :)

      No no, it's a desktop. :)
      I'd like to get a laptop for production though, but they're much more expensive.
