Songs predominantly from the band Kin-Lalat, a group affiliated with the URNG guerrilla organisation which fought against the military dictatorship in Guatemala. Tracks have been digitised from the records "Maíz y Fusil", "Florecerás, Guatemala", "Policromia", and the cassette tape "Nsqarna", with an additional track from Sabiá's "Formando Un Puente".
Compiling a video like this has been a dream of mine since I first made a video in honour of the Guatemalan struggle 7 years ago. ( czcams.com/video/XVYC9Pd2o_g/video.html ) At the time I could only find the third song included in this video and I always felt it was a terrible injustice to the Guatemalan struggle that more songs from it were not more readily available. At last this dream project has finally come to light.
can you please post UN conspiracy houthi rebel song? Its my favorite song.

Thanks for putting this together. I spent a year in Guatemala in the early 90s when there was precious little music and an air of generalized trauma reigned, as did the death squads. Things were much quieter than it had been in the 80s (up to 250,000 Guatemalans murdered extrajudicially.) and the URNG was gaining ground, it was obvious - though few had the reckless courage to say it out loud. It was quite a year, changed my life. Rigoberta vive! A beautiful country, with beautiful people.
The shit that's gone down in Guatemala is a major reason why I feel roughly the same way about Evangelicals as Bobby Fischer felt about Henry Kissinger.
Viva a URNG!
Very nice work. GETChan seems to do a great job with all this type of music. Can you do a collection of music dedicated to the People's War under Chairman Mao Tse-tung?
I don't know Spanish, but these songs are so soulful... Everything is clear without words: a firm conviction of victory over the oppressors. Because of this, the light form of execution, at first glance, is inconsistent with the level of violence in Guatemala. Compare with the style of political song in socialist countries: pretentious and officious in 90% cases
