What kind of trend is this, calling almost all musicians underrated? Vince Clarke has an excellent discography with tens of millions discs sold and many successful concerts at the best stadiums in the world . There are truly underrated musicians, but this is definitely not him.
@@Rostislav-sx7hm In the US at least it'd be hard to find anyone who recognizes his name. Lots of people would recognize the music though, so I think that does count as underrated.
As an Abba fan, you should know that Erasure did a 4 track ep of Abba covers called "ABBA-esque", complete with a music video of the two in drag as Agnetha and Frieda. In return, an Abba tribute band called Bjorn Again released a cover of this song, in the style of Abba. Very cool. I have now typed the word "Abba" so many times in one comment that my auto-correct now recognizes it a a word lol.

I had the pleasure of meeting Andy Bell, the singer, in a bar in the East Village one night about 20 years ago. Very nice guy! And he has one of the iconic voices of 80s Brit pop!!
There were times in the 80's, many times in fact, where one would come across a ditty and stop what they were doing. And especially if it wasn't a genre you were into, by the end you just had to give props and (no pun) much respect. This was one of those times. I hope this will get you closer to trying The Communards (Don't leave me this way).
Oh, Erasure has a special place in my heart. I think, if I had to, I would say that "Blue Savannah", "Chorus" and "Take a Chance on Me" are my three most favorite songs of theirs, although I do love way more than just three of their songs. Their songs show up quite a bit in my playlists.
Vince Clark was the man, the GOAT of Synth in the UK over this decade. You'll find him appearing in loads of bands. As for Erasure they are fabulous. My two songs apart from this one are Love to Hate You - that's a foot tapper Always - because it really is the most beautiful song. There are many more they have done that are fantastic. They had quite a few great songs and they even did a ABBA EP - Abba-esque: 1] "Lay all your love on me"; 2] "SOS"; 3] "Take a cjance on me" and 4] "Voulez-Vous". 3 is a must to see! You have to watch the video as they copied what ABBA did and dressed up! So fun to watch. I was in France when it came out on MTV and nearly spat out my beer with laughter! lol
Great great song! There are SO MANY Erasure tracks you could choose to react to next. I’ll recommend my favorite Erasure track called “Sometimes”, however, so many others like “Blue Savannah”, “Chains Of Love”, “Oh L’Amour”, “Victim Of Love” and the GORGEOUS “Always”. Vince Clark BTW is an original founding member of Depeche Mode and features heavily on the DM debut album “Speak & Spell”. Also joined up with Allison Moyet as “Yazoo” (“Yaz” in the U.S. due to another act here in the states already called Yazoo) post Depeche Mode and put out 2 brilliant synthpop classic albums, the most successful being “Upstairs At Eric’s” which features two of the best synthpop records EVER “Don’t Go” and “Situation”. Post “Yazoo”, Vince teamed up with Andy Bell and they’ve been putting out gorgeous music ever since. Good to see the emotional reaction you had to this song. It’s a particularly powerful song to those of us who are gay particularly at the time it was released. Still brings me to tears in a half memory and half joyful celebration way. Not sure if that makes sense, but, that’s the best way I can explain it. Erasure has some amazing albums besides “The Innocents”. My favorites being “Wonderland”, Chorus” and “I Say, I Say, I Say”.

He left DM after their first album, which is a great album, and was with a few other groups before forming Erasure with Andy Bell. Erasure is an iconic 80sand 90s band and they are still making music. Their latest album "Day-Glo" from 2022 is excellent!
