Nowadays it's no point in visiting Venezuela, more expensive that rest of latin america, with the worst offer of latin america. At least years ago was the cheapest country in the world, but now with dollarisation and prices even higher than in Europe what's the point?

You may want to check the percentage of Venezuelans entering the US south border right now. @eciv2006 Nah I don't think it has anything to do with race for the most part. There are a lot of black chamas and chamos, just like there are a lot of costeñas and costeños, morenas morenos. But as in many cases, probably the high class European Venezuelans look down on the dark skinned Venezuelans. Just like how the light skinned Colombianos en Bogota look down upon the "loud and dark skinned" costeños in Cartagena. It's not Venezuela vs. Colombia unless we are talking about futbol. According to my girlfriend, who is costeña, there is no bad blood between the two countries that used to be one. They are like brother countries.

@eciv2006 Don't generalize so much. Dominicans don't so much dislike Haitians at all because of the color of their skin. There are so many black Dominicanas that I can't see them at night, lol. It's more economical. Because of the bad economy in Haiti, they go to DR for work, and they end up filling in the low paying jobs that the Dominicans dont want to do. Then, the Dominicans complain that Haitians are taking away all the jobs! When I went to Punta Cana, almost everyone serving the food and beer at the beach was Hatian.

Thank You, Rami, for Your quick view over Caracas. Isn’t it a bit superficial - as some people are mentioning in their comments? Living three years in Caracas in the ´80 and just coming back from doing a research work of two months over there: living with $20 or $40 is very difficult and I got to know a lot of families struggling to survive. Why the middle class fled first? Because life got more and more complicated, one of the richest countries fell into a black hole. They failed to install a „Norwegian State Fund for all“ - only the rich ones could save their money… One always needs as well a historical point of view - or not?
