It's so interesting to see what the dogs do to guard their territory. Foxy has it down pat and is a good mentor for the boys.
that was awesome
Interestingly, they are probably also a bit confused because their sense of smell is much more acute than their hearing, and they are responding to sound that is missing it’s smell. I guess there are times when they are upwind of the noise source.
@@MVsFavorites I think this would be one of the reasons not to do this test more than the one time-- don't want to reinforce an idea that there's nothing there. But the other reason, I think, after having lived in coyote territory for decades at a time, is that because they are territorial, you wouldn't want to attract the local pack to investigate the "interlopers".
The best part of you're approach is recognizing that every animal deserves a loving heart and care!
I had never seen guardian dogs in action. That was absolutely awesome Brooke. Foxy, Rocky and Bandit were great! We had a Siberian Husky that was our outside dog, Her name was Tasha. Once we had a repair guy come to the house that Tasha insisted on coming into the house and stayed between us and him. Tasha didn’t growl or bark at him, but she lets us know he wasn’t entering the house without her. She obviously had some concerns. In 15 years, she only ever did that twice. Her instincts were excellent. She also protected me when we were building the house. A group of kids showed up on the property with baseball bats during the build. I went out to greet them with Tasha and Smith and Wesson - asked them to politely leave. One kid stepped towards me with the bat and Tasha took him down immediately and I let the other four know there were nine rounds to take them out. They got in the car and left. Can’t be too careful! I learned to always trust my dogs instincts.
That's honestly one of the main reasons why I have a dog. I tend to see the good in people, often not noticing the not so good. But dogs see it all. And they know when a situation is serious. I would hesitate, giving the person the benefit of the doubt. But a dog would act.
My current bodyguard, Bella, is still a puppy at 8 months old. But my Boxer before her, Fiona, knew what she was looking for. And I learned to trust her.
If she said, don't go that way, I didn't. And if she said it was time to go in we went in.
Most of the time I lead, keeping her close by my side. And she obeyed. But if she touched my hand with her nose I looked to her eyes to tell me what she was warning me about.
One night we had just begun our walk around the parking lot. We both heard noises from next door. I had a bad feeling about the noises, but wanted to keep walking. But Fiona told me that we needed to end the walk right then. So we did. We quickly got back inside.
It turns out what we heard was an arson setting the house next door on fire. And they were probably very high. It would not have been good to accidentally be a whitness to something like that. So, I'm glad Fiona said get back inside. And I'm glad I listened.
Note: No one was home when the house burned down. And the fire trucks showed up very quickly, already having been called.
These dogs are nothing compared to Dagestan Caucasian volkodav, Azerbaijan azeri volkodav, Azerbaijan kanjal, Azerbaijan sylvan volkodav, tusheti volkodav, kazbegi volkodav, kavkasiuri nagazi volkodav. This is light weight work compared to the north caucus mountains, central asia who produces afghan kuchi and afghan gadi of aboriginal type. Pshdar dogs, serabi dogs, romanian bucovina, sarplaninic, and real Anatolian lions (anadolu lions aka turkish lions, not American hybrid Anatolian shepherds). This is a light show of work when it comes to real livestock guardian breeds who do real work without fences and roaming packs of other lgds, predators such as jakyls, bears, striped hyenas, Coyotes, and wolves.
I love your story, by the way. And I'm so glad you always had your faithful dog. ❤️
Wonderful video! Thank you Foxy, Bandit, and Rocky for keeping everyone safe at the farm❤❤❤😊
Good dogs !! You did your job and deserve an extra bone tomorrow - when you're off duty and ready to play !!
😂alll
@@johnking8679 and maybe a good brushing to remove the mats.
I would love to see a gps tracker on them that keeps their location monitored over a night. It would be so fun to see where they go and how they move around!
Great idea!!! We would then be able to see how the boys behaviour changes over time as they mature to become full fledged guardian dogs.
And glow-in-the-dark collars.
Loved this. Brooke you were meant to find the boys. For one you saved Rocky and another to be you guard dogs. I think they not only guard the livestock but you as well. Great job Foxy for showing the boys their job. ❤❤
When the puppies showed up and their behavior immediately identified their LGD genetics, I was just astounded because they were exactly what the new farm needed.
Yes, everything about the boys rescue and arrival was perfectly timed to be a blessing to them and to the farm.
The farm is under great care at night with Foxxy , Rocky & Bandit ,,amazing how they grow into the instinct without any formal training,,,great job doggies ❤😊
Wow ... what a great video to show how the dogs guard at night ! Foxy lead the pack , but the boys did great and followed her ! Thank you for sharing Brooke , Jason and MaryCarl..
It's both amazing and heart-warming to see all 3 dogs go from petting to protecting. Mother Nature is indeed fascinating.
That was awesome! They're wonderful guardian dogs! Wasn't it a blessing that Brooke found the boys as puppies to handle the larger areas of the property with her!!! ❤️ ❤️ ❤️
As new puppies, olfactory and auditory brain development begins at birth; whereas sight development doesn't begin until eyes open, days or weeks later. Yes, dogs' hearing tells them where to look. And the best part of you're approach is recognizing that every animal deserves a loving heart and care!
Great job boys and Foxy! Their response was amazing! That would have definitely run the coyotes away!❤
Brooke, I was listening to your video and my border collie was sleeping next to me. When Jason played the coyote sound, my dog became alert and when your dogs started barking he stood up and started looking around. It is amazing how tuned-in dogs are! My yard is fenced and sometimes opossums walk across the top of my fence at night because often my dog will bark at later hours of the night and tear outside to chase something (through the doggie door). We have coyotes in my area too (Chelsea, AL) but they can't enter a 6' tall wooden fence!
Sunshine and Foxy! 🤩 Good to seem them so well.
Look at Foxys smile while being petted 🥰
Treating any animals as anything other than another sentient loving being is just abhorrent to me.
How could anyone not give them love... just because they’re ‘livestock dogs’. 😮
Such a shame to hear that, and I don’t understand.
Anyway, enjoyed the upload Brooke!
We don’t get to see your Mums animals often, so it’s always a treat. I hope she’s well too.
God bless CogHill 🕊🇬🇧
Some farms keep a livestock dog in their pen and they all eat together. I wonder how they would protect them from outside the fence other than bark to hopefully scare them off?!
Oh my, this experiment was a huge success and all 3 of the LGD's were fast and brilliant on the job. The dogs are protecting your farm and your family. Keep showing them the love and affection they deserve. Take care and best wishes.
🤗♥️🍁🍂🐾🐾🐶
I found this experience amazingly informative, thank you.
You all give all your animals so much care and love and that's why I love Cog Hill Farm. 🥰
Along with protecting the animals, the dogs consider the 3 of you are to be protected too!! Loving kindness just makes them more protective of you! What a precious pair you two are! ❤❤❤
Today, Sookie heard something in the wetland. Sketch was first to alarm & she came across the yard in 4 bounds, growling a very low growl that I had never heard before. They are amazing when they're on guard & doing their job. The dogs are part of your family they protect everyone..
❤️🐕❤️🙋🏼♀️🐈🐕
Hi Broke, the coyote sound had my dog just carrying on , she became very alert.
Hello! That was the PERFECT example of what live stock guardian dogs do!! What a blessing they are to have!!! There’s so much life on your farm that needs to be protected! Well they are all safe from any invaders with Foxy,Bandit and Rocky!!! I’m proud of the boys and Foxy!!!
Thank you for a great video and subject matter!!!
With love,
Kathy
Washington State 🇺🇸🎃💀🦇🧙🏻♀️👻👋🏻
Foxy has got it going on. That was an awesome experiment. So glad you chose to do this.❤
I have a great pyrenees, and she is a wonderful family dog , but at night , she is all business, she is absolutely an amazing guardian dog ❤
Thank you for this video. Your dogs work hard and it’s great to see them doing their job.
Wow they are so fast at doing their job. Foxy is keeping them in line.🥰 It's beautiful to see that It's their instinct and they don't have to learn it. Thanks for sharing ❤👍
Haha… the moment your dogs started the alert barking…. Both my little dogs went into high alert barking, they responded to your dogs alert, something dangerous is out there alarm!!! Hahaha….. love our little furry friends.
As soon as your dogs barked at the coyote noise my dog answered them. 😂😂😂
Great video Brooke, your guard dogs are on duty at night. A peaceful feeling to know your family is well protected ❤
I wish you could have seen my Tuxedo cat react when Jason hit play and you dogs started barking. She was in a deep nap and instantly popped up and looked directly at the TV. She stayed that way until Jason returned to talk to you. She is a huntress herself. 😊😊
Great Fox story. Brooke, you look very healthy and beautiful. FYI.... just learned my baby daughter in Wisconsin s expecting her 11th baby. And my grand daughter in Maui is expecting first time... TWINS !!!!! 🕊 life is beautiful Cog squad.😊
While watching this video i noticed the flowers in your fancy lawn area climbing the big poles and flowers on the slope away from them. Do an update and show how well it's doing
They were discussing it recently on their "Live". They said they weren't ready to show it just yet, but I guess they just did.
Yes Brooke i agree with you all animals need love and attention! they all are great dogs sending many hugs to all of you from your adopted gram in Ct xoxo
Very interesting! Boy, that Foxy is a beauty! Thanks Brooke and Jason. As always, a pleasure.
This was awesome and informative! By the way, Holly is working, she keeps an eye on you and Jason. That’s her job to know where you are!
Fascinating!! Thanks Brooke.
That was a great experience and the dogs did awesome.
The boys were doing there job good boys you take really good care of your animals love your family ❤
This was awesome I loved to see Rocky and Bandit protecting the farm it’s amazing how they just know what to do!! Looks like Bandit needs a good brushing he’s looking ruff. 😊
Animal instinct is great.
A beautiful pack of dogs... to love and protect.
I almost thought Jason may prank Brooke after the three dogs doing their job. It is amazing to watch dogs work.
Wow i never realized Foxy would lead the young guns and show them the ropes. What a wonderful cooperation.
Great video Brooke! So glad you showed how LGD work and protect. We've had 2 Great Pyrenees and they did an amazing job guarding all our animals. And they were the sweetest pets ever. When i rode my horse, our boy went every time to protect me. They are amazing dogs! When you pkayed the coyote sound my Shipoo was asleep and barked, then when she heard your dogs she jumped up barking at alert lol. She does that when our outside guard dog barks at something. Love that you have 3 wonderful dogs/pets guarding your farm. I dont understand the concept some farmers have about not touching their LGD, I don't think it makes them any better protectors and they miss out on the love and affection. Looking forward to the next video, thanks again Brooke.
In places where the LGD cultures are still intact, the human bond with the dogs is considered an important aspect of the whole thing. It's really only people who dont know anything coming up with that "rule".
That was a great reaction...good job Foxy, Bandit, and Rocky...they will protect the farm well!
Good morning Brooke what a great video The dogs know their job and they do it well foxy is a great mentor she's showing the boys what to do your property is very well protected and I agree with you Brooke no matter if you have a working dog or not all animals need love and affection they give so much in return You enjoy the rest of your day Catch you on the next great one God bless❤❤
It is wonderful to know that the Cog Hill Farm is so well protected!!!
Im so proud of your dogs. Real angels! ❤
You would never think that they would react that quick. That's wonderful to know they will protect the farm.
This was so cool to see Brooke. What beautiful dogs you have and so well loved. They sure love you as well. You both must be so proud of all of them.. OXOXO to you and all your family and animals ❣️
Great idea for a video! Oh gosh I could write reams about Livestock Guardian Dogs. In cultures that still use LGDs as they have for thousands of years, the dogs are pets too. That idea about "dont bond with them" is an invention by people who dont know what they are talking about. Also, the tradition is that the older dogs mentor and lead the youngers. I'm sure Foxy is so happy to have a group, they really are meant to work in groups. Having lived with coyotes. I'd say the biggest reason to not do that test again is just that the coyotes are territorial and it could attract the local group to assert their territory. Last thing I wanted to share is we rescued a wonderful Great Pyr and had him on our farm a year before rehoming him to a 200 acre ranch with a lot of animals to watch over, we were moving into town and were so happy when the situation opened up for him. Anyway, while we had him, he orchestrated the neighborhood dogs to respond intelligently when the pack of coyotes would sweep through. Before him, all the dogs for a half mile or more radius around us, and there were a lot of them, would bark constantly, chaotically and frantically, the whole time the coyote pack was around. After him, and I have no idea how he did this, he got it so that only the dogs nearest the location of the coyotes would bark, so that you could tell where the pack was by the location of the barking dogs. As they moved, so did the barking dog sounds, with the surrounding dogs occasionally vocalizing in a conversational way. I know this happened because I have always gone out and listened and watched when I heard coyotes around, and the difference was stark. And it seemed to me the coyotes spent less time in our area after a while of that. It was a wonderful mystery I will always remember.
Thank you for introducing us to the doggies.❤
Can the dogs go all around the fenced in areas to chase off any predators and do they know how? Foxy is a very loyal and serious dog, so will the boys in time!❤
Love this! Thanks for showing us the dogs in action.❤❤❤
Oh, my when Jason started playing that my dogs went nuts too. That’s just too funny. We have coyotes here and they thought they were here in the daytime. It’s amazing what dogs do to protect their ground.😀👍❤️❤️❤️🐶🐶🐶🐶🐶
That was wonderful great video. Your dogs are on the ball. Thanks for sharing
Loved that demonstration.
Looks like the boys are blowing their coats and could use a good grooming. After all, we want them to be as sleek and fast as possible for their nighttime duties!! Great job everyone and I'm so very grateful you both have great advisors to help you with critter problems.
Good morning, Brooke from south Mississippi
I’m glad y’all did this test and shared it with us. I wondered how the boys would react to a threat.
Great video Brooke. So proud of the dogs
Thanks Brooke and Coyote Jason!😉
The boys and Foxy proved they are capable of holding their own, great job💜
Along with the other two, Rocky and Bandit are such a wonderful addition to the family.
I love the howling coyote sumulations 😅. That was clever; it sure kept Rocky & Bandit on their paws 🐾🐾 Oh, and I cannot leave Foxy out! 🐾
They're all gonna jump on Jason 😂😂😂
Absolutely love Foxy, Rocky, and Bandit. Beautiful and very smart❤❤❤❤
What a great video...was very educational for me...learned something new today....Thank you Brooke and Jason.
That was amazing! Awesome dogs! ❤😊
Brooke, you are right and most people don't understand that....Livestock Guardian Dogs are not the same as herding dogs. > Herding dogs...control the 'movement' of livestock.
Two different dogs, two different jobs. LGDs aren’t herders > they are protectors.
Foxy is the OG of LGD and Rocky and Bandit are Rookies in training. They were awesome. It's such a blessing to see all of your animals with unique personalities. They are the luckiest Animals to be living at Cog Hill Farm. 😊
So proud of Foxy & the boys! Thx for sharing.
They know where there home is and we're there loved ones are. They will protect the comfort and love they get with there lives. Great animals.
WOW that was a great dementration of the dogs protecting the fram. Thanks for sharing this dementration.
I love how all of the animals know they need to get along. ❤
It is remarkable how fast they respond! They have wonderful instincts and Foxy is doing a good job of showing the boys the ropes. 💖💖💖
How great that you got these two great dogs plus Dede and Holly. I bet you could teach Holly a bit of herding with hand signals
Very interesting video Brook!! I was wondering if Rockey and Bandit were protecting the livestock, very interesting 😊😊❤❤
Great job Foxy, Rocky, and Bandit! Great protectors!
Oh I loved that.💖💖💖 great job dogs.
GOOD BABIES!!! The best guards ever!! They will keep all of the unwanted away, and will provide kisses and hugs to the invited!
WOW, TY Brooke, very interesting video, GO LIVESTOCK GUARDIAN DOGS !!!!!!!
Happy Thursday Coghill family farm 🚜 ❤️
Great demonstration Brooke and Jason
Great job Foxy ,Rocky and Bandit ! Roxy will guide the boys as they grow, how to continue through the night protecting. Blessings to Mrs Cog Hill 🙏🫶🥰
That was great to see, foxy has taught the boys well.
What awesome 4 legged children you have Brookie!!
You didn’t have to tell me nothing and I knew all three of them would do their job they’re amazing..
So funny. When your dogs started barking, my GP started barking and I didn't think he was going to stop. LOL
Fantastic livestock guardians!!!! Doesnt that make you so proud of them!!!! Wonderful boys!!!❤❤❤
Foxy has such a sweet face. My son has a l/s guardian dog of the same breed, and her face looks the same way. Just tugs at my heart strings every time I see her.
I think just having a dog or even a couple of dog's are so wonderful! And I to agree w/ you Brooke, that all animals need to be loved no matter what!😊😊😊❤❤❤❤❤
Nothing better than a nice quiet evening in the fall hearing the crickets and Kadydids talking
That was cool! Foxy, Bandit, and Rocky are on the job.
That was amazing. They stopped playing and did there job. You are so lucky you found them and that Rocky survived to protect the farm now.
They work well as a team. It was interesting to see one of them lag a little behind to make sure the animals in the other pasture were still safe. Then he joined the others. Great teamwork from two very young dogs and one experienced guardian.
This was so interesting. Great job on doing this video. I have never had the chance to experience the dogs work like this.
Their barks definitely were warning barks and not friendly greetings
Love that Foxy is training the boys.
Just barely could hear and it was only seconds before they sounded the alarm. Great job to all the protectors
Good demonstration. LGD are a tremendous addition to any farm. I had one on my 10 acre farm and she was unbelievable. Thanks for showinn everyone..
That was awesome. Great job Foxy, Bandit, and Rocky. You are just amazing.
Its amazing the instincts they have. Good job Foxy, Bandit and Rocky. Thanks for sharing. God bless.
It's great Roxy can guide the boys on protecting. She will be a great Mentor ❤Teacher. Love how God knew you what you needed and brought the boys direct in your path.❤
Great job Foxy, Rocky and Bandit!!❤❤
Thanks so much for sharing the boys on the job
We all love those dogs so so much! Thank Brooke!
