What a tremendously helpful tutorial! Thank you so much for posting a detailed video with explanations of where to put your fingers for the guitarists who don't know many jazz chords! I love the Stray Cats but it's often hard to figure their songs out by ear :)

You really need to have the chords available, can't see your finger placement.
This tutorial is EXCELLENT! I have wanted to learn this song for ages, but for a long time it was way above my level...I'm finally feeling up to the challenge, but it's hard because Brian does SO MUCH variation with each different version. Of course the original is in Eb (played with the E shapes your demonstrate but down tuned), but he has these LOVELY solo versions...I've seen him do it in C, B, and even A...but these are all done on a baritone guitar. I wish I could find the SNL version in D you referenced. Doesn't seem to be on YT. I'm curious how he plays that. Some of the chord charts online are written in D. But they miss all the jazz chords that give the song some much color.
Anyway, I'm trying to adapt his version in C (because I love how it sits for singing...has some of the highs, but some nice lows too) for acoustic guitar. I'm not a jazz or rockabilly player, nor do I have one of those sweet Gretsch guitars...Anyway, even though it's in a completely different key, your tutorial has helped me understand so much about how to move those jazzy 9 chords around.
The only bummer is the sound quality of your voice is so low. I can hear the guitar fine, but I sometimes have to struggle to hear what you're saying (or tell everyone in the room to stop making noise...lol)
Wish list item...I'd SO love to hear you talk through his solo version in C. Even if not on a baritone, I'd love to hear your explanation of some of the supremely tasty phrasings and licks he fills in with. (link below)

I've been playing these songs for years and know pretty much all the Stray Cat stuff ha, so I thought ...why not start putting some videos out?
Not everyone has the time due to work, life, etc, to figure all of this stuff out but they still perhaps possess enough of a level to get some enjoyment from at least playing these songs.
